LCFC FOX Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 If he goes out on loan that implies he's still under contract, doesn't it? What am I missing here? his contract has expired but Leicester have offered him a new contract. So he has two options open for him at the moment. Sign for Leicester and go out on loan to Rangers Or sign for rangers permanently on a free transfer.
foxfan92 Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 http://www.ibroxnoise.co.uk/2016/07/rangers-complete-signing-of-ghanian.html?m=1 Signed?
mozartfox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 We were obviously not overly fussed to keep him. Should do well playing in the Scottish Pub League.
lgfualol Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Hope this doesnt become a thing every time one of our youth players that might actually have a career beyond the conference or league 2 comes through. Chilwell's future isn't too clear and now Dodoo. Choudhury next
theessexfox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 I thought it was quite peculiar that he wasn't at the trophy presentation or parade when he played in the Premier League last season, yet players like James, Chilwell, Hamer and Moore were. When did he play in the Premier League?
NewEnglandFox Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Not looking good. £250K. #RudkinOut http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3691208/Leicester-striker-Joe-Dodoo-join-Rangers-Ibrox-seal-ninth-summer-signing.html#ixzz4EQq8pPSn
Grewks Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Warburton's recruiting well. Brentford would be in the prem by now if their owner wasnt insistent on playing some kind of Virtual Reality Football Manager. A good 12-24 months at Rangers and he could be a future target for us. The football he had his side play against Celtic last season was incredible for that level and he's actually coaching and improving players, a rarity in the modern british game.
LCFC FOX Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Good luck to him. Hope he does well in his career. Fair play to him for wanting first team football.
Tuna Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Whoever is responsible for allowing this to happen needs to be sacked immediately.
kingcarr21 Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Fair play to Dodoo for wanting to go out and get first team football. He would have had some serious restrictions if he stayed. He could easily make a name for himself and then move on to bigger better things. Good Luck Joe.
whitlock Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 We trust the club to buy the right players so you have to trust the club to let go players too.
dylanlegend Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Can't we do a Barca and insert a buy back clause in case he's any good?
Babylon Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Whoever is responsible for allowing this to happen needs to be sacked immediately. Maybe, just maybe... he didn't want to sign a new contract.
Babylon Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 It's clearly not what I meant. We don't know when the contract was offered, but it would seem a bit strange that we hadn't offered him a contract sooner when he showed promise. maybe we did and he's just rode it out. If he wants more football elsewhere, that could been done under a loan arrangement. Seems a bit of a shame as he had shown promise if he does go. If he sees himself unlikely to get game time here, he might as well move away and get games somewhere else and move up the ladder that way. The loan would only benefit us and not him, he could end up tied to us, playing crappy u21 football again for another season. Least this way it's his decision and not the clubs. Personally I'm not sure it's one we'll end up regretting, but time will tell.
baldeagle Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 It may be quite possible that we didn't rate him that much so only offered a rubbish contract
Simo86 Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 It may be quite possible that we didn't rate him that much so only offered a rubbish contract Or we offered a contract so that if he joins a lower league club in England we'd get a fee?

It's all probable, just seems that whilst we're aiming for the stars at the minute and that's great, who's to say we won't need him in 2 years time. We're hardly turning over a plethora of potential strikers out of the under 21's, buying strikers in seems an expensive strategy.

But, to be fair he's decided to take his career in his own hands. Can't argue with that really, as he's not going to get the time here. Many lads keep taking those contracts, I think it's a brave decision what he's doing... but ultimately probably the best one for him if he wants to get games, develop and control his own career a bit more.

Then it's a shame that the offer wasn't to his measure, and we weren't happy to better the terms and offer him a decent loan where he'd get those games, come back a stronger player prospectively and want to play for us in the future. I wish him the best if his path is otherwise. I haven't seen us snap up or even be linked with players for our under 21s (maybe I'm not looking in the right places!), and if we have any hope of hell in seeing a long term successful future this needs to have either seeds sown and/or retaining them too.

We signed that Spanish lad a few weeks back, you see the odd one signed specifically for the U21's. But when we're buying them in late just for the U21's, they've generally not done much... although you only need one to worth to make it all worth while. I'd imagine we want to focus on getting better quality in very young and developing it better. That has to be the aim of the Cat 1 status. Not following the Man City and Chelsea route of paying millions for 18 years olds. So we might have just signed on the next Ronaldo for the under 10's, but we'll never hear about it.
Gerard Posted 15 July 2016 Posted 15 July 2016 Not bothered by this at all, I'm happy to get a fee for him. I went to all our League Cup games last season and despite his brilliant goal and hattrick against Bury and his goal against West Ham I wasn't impressed with his play as daft as that may sound. I think in five years time he'll be mid table Championship level at the very best but probably League One standard. He's a year older than Demarai Gray and not anywhere near his level. Dodoo wasn't going to make it at Leicester so any fee for him is half decent business.
