So why on earth is he going to Scotland? What a waste. Even if his chances are limited he might as well have signed with us on a better wage than Rangers (surely) and got a loan move there.

It's clearly not what I meant. We don't know when the contract was offered, but it would seem a bit strange that we hadn't offered him a contract sooner when he showed promise. maybe we did and he's just rode it out. If he wants more football elsewhere, that could been done under a loan arrangement. Seems a bit of a shame as he had shown promise if he does go.
Great Boos Up Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 Looks like we put forward some sort of offer, but Rangers is a fantastic move for him if he can secure a squad place. In reality we've had an awful lot to protect the last few months, let alone pushing hard to strengthen. As priorities go he's maybe the one that got away but our net is full of pretty big fish. I hope he is a fantastic success and wish him well.

It's only players over 23 that have to have a contract offer on the table I believe. If he goes and we can't agree a fee it will go to a tribunal.

I don't know if Scotland is termed "abroad" either?

Patrick Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 I thought it was quite peculiar that he wasn't at the trophy presentation or parade when he played in the Premier League last season, yet players like James, Chilwell, Hamer and Moore were.
