purpleronnie Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 It would have been nice if they picked some long standing season ticket holders and game some of them a car, or even free season tickets. Why give cars to millionaires who have been rewarded for last season and drive nice cars anyway. Unless of course BMW gave them to the club on the understanding the players will be seen driving them.

AKCJ Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Nice and all, but don't most of the players have more expensive cars as it is? Is it a sponsorship thing? Will we get an advert like Liverpool's nivea? Will we see a BMW hurtling along and jeff running alongside it before morphing into a panther or something? I just don't know.

Honestly? Because giving a gift to an employee is probably a tax write off, whilst giving gifts to random fans probably isnt...
MrSpaM Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 It's not actually that much when you consider the figures that were banded around for the promotion bonuses our players got in our last championship season. Weren't people saying the players were getting a million each in bonuses then? That doesn't seem to have happened this year, so you'd expect the owners to do something for the players.
foxes21 Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 this isn't just about rewarding the players. As you guys say some players probably have better cars already. But this is more about branding, image, marketing and giving the club a positive feel to the public eye. Nice one Top
kingfox Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 I'll have Benalouane's considering he's gone missing.

Whilst I understand the sentiment it doesn't really hold any weight when talking about football, does it? Football is about as detached from the 'real world' as you can get.

But if I can remember back to when I was working, "perks" were taxable, so the club have just landed all of the players with another tax burden....one that I wouldn't mind though
AndWhat? Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Could have lowered our season tickets by £100 to say thanks for supporting the club through all the shit times, but hey, sure those millionaires needed another car......
lifted*fox Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 For everyone complaining - if you step back and think for one minute, you'll most likely come to the conclusion that this is a marketing exercise - BMW have most likely gifted LCFC the cars and the owners have 'bought them' for the players. Increased exposure for BMW, increased exposure for the club. I doubt Top dropped over £1m (nothing in the grand scheme of things anyway) on cars for the players genuinely thinking they'd all want an i8. The same owners who recently donated £2m to a local hospital. Some of you really do get your little panties in a bunch very quickly.

Babylon Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Businessman rewards employees who made him a bloody fortune and people whine.
lifted*fox Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 "Thanks for the offer of a pay-rise boss, but I must decline after considering the thoughts and opinions of those less fortunate than me." Said nobody, ever.

Nice gesture but a pretty wasteful and unnecessary one. I did think the same but it could almost be like a medal in its own way. Classy move though. They're lovely cars.
Adster Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Come on guys this is basic marketing. They're even all in the blue colour for gods sake! It's obvious (like with the Krispy Kreme donuts) the club haven't paid for them. It's purely a marketing stunt to get BMW's name out their to the public eye. 19 of these cars is peanuts to BMW. The revenue gained from generated interest in the future is most likely more valuable to them than 19 i8's.
