Lesta blue Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Musa and Vardy will be a great strike force no doubt. Give it a little time and they will gel. Today Vards had clear chances that he would normally put away , but it wasn't to be. If we had scored earlier we would have gone into win comfortably and none of this gloom and doom would have surfaced. Against Arsenal we will win, just like Hull unexpectedly beat us today.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I have a horrid feeling Arsenal are going to beat us quite easily. We are leaking goals.. Hope I'm miles off.
brockmyster Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I think without Kante we cannot play 442, it leaves us too exposed and Arsenal are definately a side who would exploit that, I would like to see the following: Zieler Simpson Morgan Wasyl Fuchs Amartey Drinkwater King Gray Musa Vardy Dropping Mahrez to the bench will hopefully give him that kick into gear. Much more balanced and musa and vardy can constantly interchange which would be a nightmare for any defence but especially a possible makeshift one like Arsenals.
Grewks Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 A mis-firing and tbh lazy Mahrez has to be dropped against a side like these. Can we play a 4-3-3? I'm not too sure. Wouldn't mind a return to a 3-5-2. Always seems to cause teams problems when i see others use it. Zieler, Albrighton, Hernandez, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Amartey, Drinky, Mendy, Musa, Vardy. 3-5-1-1 if you like.
WiFoxes Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Not confident at all after today. Get Huth back in there, put Mendy or Amartey alongside Drinky, Albrighton on one of the wings and Shinji behind Vardy and let's see what we have. Unfortunately right now I see a 3-1 Arsenal win.
chicagofox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Schmeichel (Just about) Hernandez Morgan Huth Albrighton Mendy Drinkwater Fuchs Okazaki Vardy Musa Subs: Zieler, Kaputska, Mahrez, Amartey, Schlupp, Ulloa, Gray

Richmondfox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 We certainly missed the extra bite in Midfield that Shinji provides in breaking up play. Gray had positive intent but wasn't feeding the forwards or offering any support to Fuchs, he also misplaced a lot of passes or maybe I was noticing him more as I want him to do well. Arsenal wont crowd our players and park the bus like Hull but will be really efficient and deadly with any chances they have, hopefully we can play our own game. Either keep it tight with an extra man in midfield as a DM and let our three most attacking players loose or tried and tested 442, either way I don't think King is the man to add extra steel in midfield or creativity that we desperately need, just till we steady the ship. Id prefer this team, it doesn't have the width we normally have but seems more balanced if we want to have of the two fastest players in the league on the pitch. Schmeichel Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Mendy Amartey Drinkwater Mahrez Vardy Musa Schmeichel Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Mahrez Mendy Drinkwater Albrighton Shinji Vardy/Musa Id like to see Kaputska come on in this game, he looked positive and showed no fear against Barca.

If Liverpool rip them up today it could shatter their confidence. I am beginning to wonder if they were ever serious about Mahrez, or whether it was all mindgames to mess with our heads before next week. Certainly will not want to pay £35 million on yesterdays display.
Livid Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 We certainly need to make some big strides forward in the next week. We looked to be physically fit enough but the football was nowhere near sharp enough for the Premier League. This time yesterday I saw our first three games as winnable. Yesterday afternoon I'm thinking maybe a point against Swansea.
Crinklyfox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 I hope that the Hull match has dispelled the complacency that seemed to be prevalent on Saturday. A lackluster performance that would have lost us the points in most games last season against an ordinary Hull side that wanted it more than we did. We need a huge improvement if we are to stand any chance against Arsenal. I'm hoping that can happen in a week but fear not. There could still be comings and goings to the squad before the end of August which could further change the chemistry that worked so well last season. I'm not expecting a repeat but would hate to see us fail to achieve in the PL and get demolished in the Champions League, we may never get this chance again. So a rapid and positive reaction to Hull is needed.

Brooksy Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Zieler Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Mahrez Mendy Drinkwater Albrighton Okazaki Vardy Think we'll improve but they'll be too good for us. Another 2-1 defeat
chili_con_carne Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 This game is perfect for musa and vardy on the counter. Although I imagine arsenal will sit back also and play on the counter. Seems ridiculous but this game could be a 0-0. Or maybe a 1-0. With both sides just sitting back.
Munshi Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Surprised at how many people are dropping mahrez for this, he's one of the two match winners we have in our side and dropping him would be stupid. Him and Vardy are the only two players we have who can score a goal out of nothing

An Away Move Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Lost 3 all last season. Looking at losing the first 2 IMO. How they respond to that will make our season. I am already in mourning for the fantasist in me who had the unreal expectation that we might somehow defend our title.
LCFC FOX Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Kasper Simpson Huth Morgan Fuchs Amartey Drinkwater Mendy Albrighton Vardy Mahrez
tsintskaro Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Far from the idea that Arsenal will win easily,or will win Claudio will have talks and that game would not be lacking team effort as yesterday 2-2 maybe 3-2 and i will forget defeat against Hull
FireFox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Zieler Hernandez - Huth - Morgan Albrighton - Drinky - Amartey - Fuchs Mahrez - Okazaki - Musa
Tielemans63 Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 God I hope we win this, if for no other reason than to shut up the miserable ***** who come out of the woodwork when we don't perform to proclaim our inevitable demise. Yesterday's performance was shit but ffs let's have some perspective. Let's not write off this season and most of our players an hour and half in.
bpfox Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 i hate to say this but on yesterdays game , the gunners by 6 and i think that would be a good result. our mid field is woeful and the attack seems lost, we need 3-4 players A.S.A.P , please buy some quality or its back to the championship me thinks.

Wow! taking it bad only a week ago we pretty well matched one of the favourites for this league over confident yesterday. Completely forgot the stuff that got us where we reached last year. Manager and players all guilty. Like I said yesterday, with the money sloshing around, it's not far from European battle to relegation fight. Mental attitude the main difference.
treer Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Played 2 won 1 lost 1, after 2 matches, if that is to be the case, we have definitely lost the right match. Beat Arsenal and everything is back on course.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 14 August 2016 Posted 14 August 2016 Last year we started with King and Drinky in the centre together in a 442. We also started with 6 of the starting eleven in blistering form. This year a lot of our players are not all guns blazing at the start of the season so we have to adapt. Kasper simpson huth morgan fuchs mendy drinky amartey mahrez musa Vards
