Dr The Singh Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Made hard work of it, second half we were poor
Larry_LCFC Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 The most ridiculous weather I've ever seen. Sounded like a bomb going off when it hit the stadium. Thought Amartey was utterly brilliant throughout. Shame to concede but we should have scored more. Please fgs don't let mahrez near another penalty.
LanguedocFox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Think it would have been better to sub Mahrez than Albrighton, who seemed to be coping better with the conditions, and was shoving in some great passes. Worried me a bit that Zieler didn't come for crosses, but overall I thought that it was a good performance. Back four were rock solid, midfield outstanding again, and Vardy/Okazaki look great.

Vardy has been more consistent with them, and would have preferred him to take it. I think neither of them should take pens if there is a better alternative. Remember that Vardy also missed the one that was very important for him to catch Kane ...

I don't think Vardy is an amazing penalty taker, but I think that's the only one he's missed? At least that I remember.

tyfox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Mahrez ain't up to speed that's clear to see. Fuchs had his hands full today. We did look very good but the conditions ruined it near the end
The Guvnor Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Great win with two great goals, Wes reacted so quickly to smash his shot in the back of the net, any great striker would have been proud of that goal. Amartey played well looks like he can do a job, conditions were atrocious towards the end.
Benno_Levin Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Great result considering the tricky conditions. They didn't really help us to counter attack! Agree that Amartey played well. I know Mahrez wasn't great, but I was really happy to see him still trying to take people on even after the penalty miss. He'll get back to top form soon.

MattCan Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 I hope Amartey can keep it up. He has been the biggest positive of the day.
Collymore Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Agree Vardy should be Penalty taker permanently from now on. Amartay looks really accomplished in the that midfield role. I loved his amraam heat seeking missile passes through to the forwards. If we could get James fit and firing on all cylinders a new midfielder might not be as important as it seemed 24 hrs ago. Drinkwater is pure class. I still would love to see a class number 10 come in who could play off Vardy and really pull some strings. Okazaki brings somethings to the party but I do feel there are few times where he has more faith in his ability than he should (often trying his swivel and turn but forgetting the ball) and fails to pick out that final pass. Saying that his hussle and bussle is out of this world.
desertfox2 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Good win that in really bad conditions. Hope Kasper isn't anything serious. Looked like last season again and lightening on the break until the rain slowed the pitch. Is Montero only good against us or something? I only really see Swansea when they play us but can never figure out why he is always on the bench...
WigstonWanderer Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Good performance all round except for a couple of periods towards the end of the first and second halves when rain seemed to cause them to lose focus a bit. Amartey looked great! Everyone on song except for Mahrez who still looks a bit out of sorts. Drinky fantastic. 4 points out of 3 games, scales up to 51 for the season, I think I'd take that at the moment.
foxfan92 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Mahrez shouldn't be on penalty taking duties any more and there were times I was begging him to play a quicker pass rather than always try to take on his man but Mahrez will do that and it's not a bad thing to be honest. We need him taking people on and drawing the play over to him to generate the gaps up front. I thought the team as whole played really well especially first half and Shinj, Vardy and Albrighton all looked very good while Drinkwater and Amartey were immense. I'm still hoping for another CM and also that Mendy will be great but let's hope Amartey keeps this up and gives us the nice kind of selection headache. We'll need some rotation this season with the CL games too. Hoping Kasper isn't off past the international break. He looked good today too and I think his wayward clearance was a result of the injury as he hobbles straight after kicking yet still lunges forward to make the challenge.
Fox seen in Norwich Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Mahrez... Making games interesting since 1991
Rasmic123 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 great to get the first win, 2-1 flattered swansea who I thought were really lacklustre. Great performances from amartey, drinkwater, morgan and okazaki. Mahrez still looks a bit short of form and huth will be thinking he should have done more for their goal as he left morgan with two men but apart from that (and schmeichel's injury), all good! Onwards and upwards!
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Really enjoyed that game today. It had pretty much everything. Tackles flying in, pissing it down, chances, goals. Glad Claudio took my advice and played Amartey... he was immense and 'did a Kante', getting his toe in, stopping their attacks and keeping it simple. Mahrez...if we didn't know who he was and he was making his City debut, we'd have thought wtf! Giving the ball away at will and missing the penno which COULD have had a major impact on the outcome. We were back on song and played some lovely football. Smashing game.

Also, he was non existent really, wasn't the right conditions for him though so will cut him some slack for his over all performance. Take him off pens for fuchs sake though Non existent? .. Is that what you've seen? really?
