ALC Fox Posted 3 September 2016 Posted 3 September 2016 I've been watching the season review and it reminded me of just how important Okazaki was and continues to be. It's up to the new boys to force him out I'm afraid. After listening to The Boot Room on Radio Leicester on Thursday, Slimani sounds like Ulloa and Okazaki rolled in to one, so he'll eventually replace Shinji I would bet, but not immediately.
Osavo Posted 3 September 2016 Posted 3 September 2016 Okazaki. Playing brilliantly at the minute and whilst people, including myself, we're slightly critical last season, without him it is so difficult to play our game. His work in dropping back into the midfield is pivotal to our pressing of the opposition defence, whilst his link up play has massively improved and for me, Musa cannot replicate these traits at the minute. Would however like to see Musa utilised in a wide role, reckon that's where we might see him used most frequently.
STUHILL Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Maybe better to ask this question after we see Musa play with Vardy more. Okazaki until Musa changes my mind!

Sionnach gorm Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 This is so fantastic. The fact that we have so many different points of view (all valid in their own right, I must say) is brilliant. Who would have thought two years ago we'd be debating where to put exceptional players. I love the embarrassment of the choice!
lcfcrinaldi Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 We haven't spent £30m on a player, for him to play just the cup games and see if he can work his way in. We need to throw him in the deep end and show us why he's worth what we payed. He may take time to adapt, but that's what substitutions are for. Plus Shinji might enjoy having a change of perspective being the Sub rather than subee, maybe not though. Slim Shady and Vardy for me.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 I would start Okazaki for the first half then whack on musa for the whole second half.
HighPeakFox Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 I'd let Slimani train at least once with us before thinking too hard about what to do with him next match...
NeilLCFC Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Okazaki isn't a striker for me. Team definitely functions much better when he plays, he seems a much better player when I think of him as a midfielder.

Claudio agrees
stevelcfc Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Has to be Shinji for me until the other develop some sort of understanding with Vardy.
bpfox Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 we just paid a fortune for islam, i want him and vardy playing up front. would not mind seeing okazaki playing just behind them.
filbertway Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 If we play any games where we fancy taking the game to the other team a front four of Musa Slimani Vardy Mahrez would cause havoc!
dorsetboy Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 i do like shinji but slimani is a beast hes basically okazaki and ulloa all in one and can finish maybe drop drinky a little deeper as he can tackle and like to ping the balls from deep to front line so we could play a 4-1-2-1-2 ------------------------------kasper------------------------------ simpson---------huth---------------morgan-----------------fuchs ----------------------------drinky---------------------------------- mahrez---------------------------------------------albrighton/musa ---------------------------shinji----------------------------------- --------------vardy--------------------slimani----------------------
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Okazaki by far. Musa doesn't have the touch or tekkers to hold up the ball and pick out a pass, he's good for getting his head down and trying to beat a man with the ball at his feet. Shinji is much more skilful and strong and suited to playing without space while tightly marked.

Maybe do need a more holding player than DD in there, though. Would be a dream going forward mind.

bpfox Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 i wonder if the boss would ever change to this. kasper morgan huth fuchs amartey danny mendy riyhad vardy islam musa
sdb Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 I despair at anyone not saying Okazaki. For now at least.
foxy boxing Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Musa and vardy seem to be similar type players while Okazaki is different from them both, having both Musa and vardy up front they may end up in each other's space and probably will have to work on a partnership. Musa can also come in off the wing. Okazaki would most likely work harder for himself and vardy
Dickov22 Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 We're not spending £30m odd on a player to have him on the bench. It'll be him and Vardy as a pair and I can't wait to see it.
Tanya Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 Shinji deserves to keep his place, but if Slimani lives up to expectations he'll be replacing him fairly soon in the starting line up. Musa is a super sub.
AyewJoking Posted 4 September 2016 Posted 4 September 2016 i would expect slimani to go straight into the starting line up considering his transfer fee. It will all sort itself out though because if you arent playing well or need a rest then you will be replaced. vardy/musa okazaki/slimani (assuming we stick with the 4411 formation) do you think ulloa would make decent long term back up to central defence?

I personally think Slimani will fill the role in behind vardy as he's basically looks a better version of Troy Deeney! Oka will still have a massive role to play and it wouldn't surprise me if he grabbed a load more goals coming off the bench after slimani and vardy have run a defence ragged for 60/75 mins In todays football, its too short sighted to buy a young player believing they can only play in one type of position. If you had noticed, his goals so far for city have come from the middle...Musa is a front line player, if he could play in hole No idea, but I wouldnt say its not worth trying , far too early to starting believing this or that player...cant!!!
