Doom and gloom! Bubbles burst! We've got Slimani to come! Gray needs to start coming off the bench for mahrez! Kaputska needs a chance! Mendy to come back! We'll finish mid table where we belong. Calm down everyone

For anyone to say any of the players who helped us win the title is useless is insulting but he's no Premiership striker. His value is in the consistency of attitude and application on behalf of the team - mostly as a harrasser and willing support. Ulloa is a far better striker given the opportunity and I have to presume Slimani and Musa are too.

Just disappointing to be satisfied with a mid-table finish when we had a chance to spend and be more than that. There was an attraction to this club with champions league football and Mahrez and Vardy signing new deals to have got serious talent in. Yes it would cost money but 30 mill net spend isn't enough if you are serious about competing in Europe regularly.

We didn't play badly going forwards. But it's now a case of finding the right formation, unless James or whomever could come in.

Got to get him off the burger diet first

Morgan crap,Mayrez crap,Claudio hasn't a clue.Schmeicel can't kick...anyone else we hammering today having lost to a team who WILL give a good few teams a shipping!

Honestly we really need to evaluate how far we have come and what we've achived.

Really can't understand this pessimism.

We won the league. We have never won the top

league in 138 years before this!

What we've achieved? What we've achieved is the impossible.

We're 4 games in. We have lost 2 games of those 4 but we only lost 5 league games in almost the last 50 and we can't credit Kante with all of that record since he didn't play for a number of those games.

We got ripped open at times during the game and I didn't like seeing it, but we also hit the bar and Vardy should have scored when one on one.

We're not necessarily going to defend our title this season. I'd love it if we do, but this is a transistion. For years we've been the team that gets promoted to the premiership then after a season or two relegated again.

For the first time since the O'Neal era I feel like we're a team that's making forward steps and unlike back then we seem to have owners capable of sustaining and building on our achievements.

As supporters we need to keep acting like the 12th man, we have a chance on Wednesday to kick start our season with a real moral boosting victory in the CL!

Claudio will have the team fighting harder than ever after tonight and we just need to get behind the team and watch as we keep evolving and get better and better.

Admittedly I do think we really missed a trick in not signing another central midfielder.

It's looking like it could be a big mistake. Likewise with CB/RB. IF we get knocked out the CL and midtable at best come January, might have to battle it out with Sunderland and Bournemouth for new players.

I think the management team have a lot to answer for. Leaving it until deadline day to secure your first real serious signing?

We broke our transfer record twice before then?

One positive as far as our squad is concerned is that we have plenty of options going forward. At the same time it's a bit frustrating seeing as we're very short in midfield & maybe lacking a body or two at the back. For me it isn't what we did or didn't spend in the summer, it's where we spent it. It's all well and good having loads of attacking options but it feels a bit like we've signed players we want instead of players we actually need. If that makes sense?

Well it depends if you feel that 13 and 16 million is going to guarantee you a top six finish giving what others are putting down... if you want to be a serious side that can fight for Europe you need to be spending more. Last season was remarkable and we got some gems but you can't keep doing that, expecting to spend close to what even championship sides put down and expect anything more than mid table... we had a fantastic opportunity this summer, and I feel we didn't take it

Agreed. I think we would have shown more urgency in signing a midfielder if Amartey didn't play so well against Swansea. I said to my mate during the Swansea game that my only concern with Amartey's performance is that we might not go out and sign the CM that we realistically need.

I'm pretty sure people thought that Musa was a serious signing at the time.

Let's be honest,we got absolute dicked on this evening. For some reason (Kante) we are no longer good enough to beat teams like, hopefully don Claudio realises and makes a few changes. Musa for Albrighton and Slimani for okazaki please

It's beginning to look like the pundits were right about last season - a freak season where mediocre players all exceeded their natural ability.

To repeat - that isn't actually possible.

What is disappointing today is we have not prepared for the loss of Kante. One player doesn't make a team but we were an incredible unit last year. Kante was a part of that unit and we've lost him.

Instead of accommodating to that loss, we've gone into this season with the same again attitude and we simply can't because we are not the same team as last year.

That means one of two things: 1)you spend 60 mill to replace him; or 2) you adapt to the loss. Today, in addition to the Hull and Arsenal games shows we have not.

I don't think we are a bad team and we have a lot of talent in this squad. However, being carved opened like that (the same happened at times in the Arsenal game, without the same result) is going to get old very quickly.

Yes, we were spoilt last year but that doesn't mean we go quietly into the night with an absolute trouncing every other week. I want to see the team and manager adapt to this loss in the next few games. That is not asking for the planets to be moved but a genuine expectation for what is in essence still a very good football squad.

We can put today down to a bad day. We have Man U and Chelsea coming up and if we approach them in the same manner, it will lead to the same result. Without Kasper and a bit of luck that could've been 6/7 to them. It is unfair on Mendy and Amartey to try and fit them into a hole left by an incredible footballer and tell them to do what he did. It's unfair on us as fans to be expect them to do the job.

Dont make this season a what if Kante was here nightmare. Claudio adapted very well last year with minor tweaks. He needs to tweak again, and I back him to do so.

Not really, he could end up being but he isn't the guaranteed quality that will keep you were we want to be, for us yes but for a serious top six side he is the norm. You have to spend unfortunately like the top six do in the league to think about challenging for Europe.

Perspective:

Hull (a): Shock defeat.

Arsenal (h): Draw improving on last year's result.

Swansea (h): Win maintaining last year's result.

Liverpool (a): Defeat maintaining last year's result.

And we have new players yet to bed in or even play a minute.

Love your optimism but comparing the 1-0 smash and grab last year to this dicking is a little generous. We lost 3 games last season, we have lost 2 in 4 so far.....

I love my team thay have given me the most emotionl season I will ever have , I cant  watch anything  on tv to do with us winning the league with out crying  ,and from now on nothing will ever beat last season  .I thank who ever,  I was alive to see it happen  unlike some of my mates . Be honest we were shit  last year team are finished we have been found  out much like after arsenal at home last year .im sure Claudio noes this and it will change from now I just worriy we are to liteweight in midfield

What ever happenens last season will. Never  be taken away from me

I was hoping the Hull game would be the worst performance of the season. I think we've beaten that just one away game later. Absolutely horrendous stuff from us. Think we need to shake up a little bit. I'd only use 4-4-2 sparingly personally. We clearly lost the key man who made that system work.

Posted

I don't go to many away games but did today.  Pretty embarrassing that some of our fans were more concerned about rambling on about Steven fvcking Gerrard to rile up the home fans, rather than actually watching the game that they've paid for. Or am I just being a killjoy?

Posted

I think there are a lot of things we can improve on really. It was a pretty awful performance all in all.

4-4-2 isnt going to work without the Kante factor. Sorry to bring him up, but simply going 4-4-2 and playing either Amartey, King or Mendy alongside Drinkwater is naive and wont work. None of them are either of the quality Kante had, or perform the role Kante did. I cant think of many in world football that are genuine box to box players with quality. Maybe Arturo Vidal? But anwyay, its suicidal to persevere with the 4-4-2, especially in tough away games.

The back 4 have looked shaky this season, but i dont think its solely a back 4 issue. I think firstly, the back 4 arent receiving the same protection in front of them from the lack of the Kante factor. Another reason why the extra body is needed in midfield.

But also, the team shape looked wrong today too. Fuchs in particular seemed to tuck in really tightly when Liverpool were in possession down their left. I cant understand this, as it was almost a free invitation to Clyne when they wanted to switch the ball to the other flank and create a 2 v 1 overload onto Fuchs every time. I just couldnt understand the logic of this.

And we seemed to be caught inbetween pressing high, and sitting off and retaining our shape. At times we did press high and this at times forced mistakes from their back 4, but often we were doing neither....players were moving towards the ball and not really pressing or putting any pressure onto the player in possession. It just ended up opening up gaps to pass through us that wouldnt have been there if we had gone with a solid 2 banks of 4 mentality.

The recruitment i dont think has been right. A quality central midfielder and a right back was a higher priority than a striker, but we spent 20+ million on Slimani. Not convinced it was the right thing to do. And im not sure if we are utilising the players we have brought in to the best of their ability. Is Musa better as a wide player? i think he may be. Mendy seems like a Drinkwater type player, do the two compliment each other? not too sure.

We have got to get Mahrez firing again too. Hes been so quiet, hes our main creative outlet.

Disappointed today but must regroup quickly.
