Livid Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 I actually had to nip down to Bedford at half time to pick up Mrs L. I had to put Talksport on as RL were wittering on and I was losing the signal, The second half just sounded like Liverpool Liverpool Liverpool Goal Liverpool Liverpool Vardy Miss Liverpool Liverpool Goal Absolute Radio Was it really that bad? One hell of a big DILLY DING DILLY DONG!
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 I do think we're going to need to sacrifice one attacking player to tighten up a bit - post Kante. Perhaps the muted 433 would work.
Wymsey Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 Appeared quite a few holes that Liverpool exploited. Perhaps one of those days.
st albans fox Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 Ouch long time since we've looked as outclassed as that. Maybe second half at home to Chelsea as they played for the title or second half at home to Arsenal last season. (PSG and barca preseason not withstanding) claudio doesn't have time to address the issues because of the no of games we have but at least we aren't facing top class opposition next Saturday so he can have a plan for yanited in two weeks. Suspect we will see lone striker next time we face top six sides, especially away. Post international breaks have never suited many of our players Riyad rarely performs and Shinji always has a long way to go. With his game so reliant on his fitness, no surprise to see him Ineffective. In restrospect, we should have played a midfield five with two holders and three in front. I suspect we planned for mane and clyne to be more marauding down the right and they weren't particularly. loads for claudio to get to work on. he has to come up with some new ways of playing because we are too predictable and the better teams seem to have worked ways of getting at and in behind our back four. an interesting period coming up - are we pacing ourselves? Don't look to be quite 'at it'.

They never seem to be on the pitch together going back to NP. But seriously am I missing something as to why they don't. The obvious thing is Ulloa good in the air Albrighton good crosser and I'm not having a go at anyone NP or CR just never been able to get my head around that one if anyone has a theory enlighten me plz. The options are to take off Albrighton or Mahrez and Claudio always chooses to take off Albrighton. Except for that one time he took off Simpson and put Albrighton as a right wingback.
J.Lisemore Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 Klopp sussed us out. His game plan worked perfectly, whereas our gameplan has clearly been thrown out of the window by the loss of Kante. I feel like we need to change, we wer overrun in midfield and that's gonna happen a lot this season if nothing changes.
Corky Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 We were utterly dreadful, I can accept losing but not like that. The problem is that the Hull game has set us back, had turned up in that one then we'd be in an ok position. We need to improve at least 70% on Wednesday.
KFS Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 The problem today was the glaring gaps in midfield. Stick 5 players in there against us and we can't cope. Through balls from midfield other than those coming from Danny D were shite.
DelBoy73 Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 Blimey, that makes it 15 goals conceded since the game against Barca last month; while last season we arrived at the Boxing day with less than 20 goals conceded, you do the math. Claudio's tactic has been found out big time, it was my view of the situation during our pre-season display, and these four games into this new season just confirmed my thoughts. Ranieri has some deep tweaking to apply to his tactics if we want to stand a chance of consolidating a top 10 finish, let alone not being a laughing stock during our first CL campaign. First of all, we need to sort our back-four together and become tight at the back as we were last season. We shouldn't need to win an away fixture by four or five goals for christ sake. Secondly, the time of hoofing the ball forward expecting Vardy to do some miracles are over. We need to make some big improvements to our builds up, and take advantage of having Mahrez double/tripple teamed to move the ball to our free players into the opposition box. We also need to make significant improvements with our ball retention, right now we are giving the ball away left, right and center. Last but not least, our midfield needs some sorting asap. Teams are constantly flooding into our 18 yards like a knife through butter. I hope people are now recognizing the tremendous work Kante was doing last season to break-up the opposition builds up, because now we are as open as a wet young virgin in her prime. Claudio has his work cut out for him since our weaknesses are there for anyone to see. I have a huge faith in him and i know he will come up with a new efficient tactic.

The game at anfield last season wasn't that much different, obviously the scoreline and they got in more... but today we just didn't even do the basics right, which resulted in this scoreline. We were sussed out long ago but teams couldn't still handle us, this season we aren't doing the simple things

Yeah he seems a little bit short of confidence but still think he will be a great player for us. Just needs to try and take on the full back direct like Rashford or Mahrez (last season) at the moment he just looks for the pass straight away but clear to see the talent is there and can't think of many full backs that would want him running at them.

Shambolic throughout at the back, Okazaki falling over constantly (still - sort out your studs!!) and then not holding play up. He gave away possession so often that led so many dangerous counter attacks. Drinkwater did well in the circumstances with no real support around him until he got tired late on. One crumb of hope: I know Mahrez has been slated on here but I thought he showed a decent understanding with musa second half even though final delivery didn't come off. He must be the only player these days that wears Diadora. I thought they were out of date at the turn of the millennium, makes me wonder how he'd perform in a decent pair.

But can see why Ranieri wouldn't want to. Moment of magic from Mahrez and can turn a game.

True we did lose there last season but we were nowhere near as bad as today, Drinkwater can't do it all on his own, Amartey was awful and that's where Kante was the difference, he always had a good game. We won't replace that, and we need to adapt I feel.

And not have to drop back so much... We haven't replaced him with anyone like for like We haven't replaced him like for like as there isn't another player like him in the world. Imho. Which makes him priceless but if he insisted he wanted out and didn't believe in what we were doing then that makes him worthless, so happy for for the 32m. Even when makalele was around, people saw what he could do, tried to find their own version, there simply wasn't anyone doing what he could at the time. Even if there was another "kante" he would cost extravagently more than the 5m we paid and at lot more than the 32m we recieved. he never wanted to come here in the first place, he had his eyes elsewhere from the start, enjoy the achievements of last year, but move on, he was of course, an important player for us but we are a team and remain a team. Bad day at the office. We learn and move on.

That game could of so easy been ours. But we pressed to much. They caught us on the break. We did not punish them when we hit them.
Callabinho Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 We're actually pretty easy to defend against....last season mostly was down to hard work and the formation suited the personnel (no point going into it we all know who). But today we looked like the Pearson sides of old with no real idea of what to do. We're very one dimensional, we can't play keep ball and don't move sides around enough to exploit them. We heavily rely of pace and balls over the top or into the channels, it simply won't work wonk anymore against better teams than ourselves. We didn't win the league last year because we were better than the other teams, we did it with hard word, grit and determination. People le say don't get worried but I am....we're are the champions, and they played Lucas in defence.......we hardly created a chance, that is poor.....We need to figure out a new plan, otherwise this season will turn ugly.....

eddylcfc Posted 10 September 2016 Posted 10 September 2016 Admittedly it was dreadful but I have full faith in the manager and more importantly the players. We will finish 12th and finish 2nd in our CL group that is the standard we are at. We're the shadow of last year but we're still miles ahead of the side that survived under Pearson.

As i said earlier, a top 10 finish is till in our bracket, but the battle will be tough.
