Always Next Year Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Not good enough, should have let him go.

Jaspa Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 No need to get the knives out on the lad, hes twenny years old and this time last year was on loan with Huddersfield in the Championship. Its a learning process and he has to grow from his mistakes and move on

steflcfc Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 He needs regular gametime to improve, he can only learn so much on the training ground. He is young and in time will take Fuchs place eventually. Looked comfortable on the ball and can pass, but 1 on 1 Moses taught him a lesson tonight. No need to slate the lad, another experience for him and will have a bright future
filbertway Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Thought on the ball he looked good, put in a few decent crosses as well. Clearly he is lacking physically so u against some unit like Moses hes going to find it a struggle. Needs game time and could develop into a good top level player.
covefox Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 League cup. Perfect for a teenager. He is not finished, but not long, especially if he learns from fuchs. Give the lad time
psychonaut Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Lovely in possession and creative going forward but ****ing woeful defensively.
lnkstern Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 I think he has potential. IMHO his main problem is a tendency to wander far afield. I would like to see him focus much more on his defensive duties. Once he has proven his abilities there, then he might earn the trust to wander upfield.
sdb Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 We have such delusions of grandeur on here now. 19 year old struggles against top class side...slate him!

Honestly the whole forum is a joke when we lose, people saying we can't compete with this squad?! Absolutely mental!
Ric Flair Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 First time he's looked anything other than solid and assured. He was very good against Hull and Spurs last season and looked our best player against Celtic I thought in preseason. Tonight he was average. When's he going to get more chances though? We're out of the one platform he'd get a handle in, likewise Kaputska. I hope Schlupp is banned from the club and these two at least get the odd chance to improve.
ramadaone Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 The ****** on here never cease to amaze me
Captain... Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 He will have learnt more in that 120 minutes than a season loan in the Championship. Moses had the beating of him and he had very little support from our left winger, but he never gave up and was defending to the very end despite the scoreline and numerical disadvantage. Those kind of footballing lessons are invaluable for his development.
Mark Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Definitely needs a loan deal until new year now when we can play him in the FA Cup, he's not going to progress otherwise.
BigWesMorgan Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Very very poor tonight it has to be said
Tielemans63 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 I thought he did fine. He suffered late on as senior players with a lot more experience than him started making some pretty shit decisions. Not exactly ideal for a youngster having Wasyl next to you constantly losing his man and diving in everywhere and then having Jeff being Jeff in front of him. He was up against a top class opponent tonight too, and he had next to no protection most of the time. Very churlish to blame the young kid.

But to say he did fine is utter bollox I'm afraid. Kid or not, if he's good enough he's old enough. And Moses won't have an easier game all season.

This is Chilwell in a nutshell. He's a younger version of de leat OK going forward, liability in defence. Drinky and Grey did as much defending as Chilwell because they had to constantly keep covering for him. Not the first game either, he was awful in the u21 Toulouse tournament and Son had him on toast in last seasons cup.

Not slating him but I agree with Col he was given the run around and because he is young he needs games in professional games....I would send him on loan again in January.....my worry is his lack of pace and positional sense which can only be compensated for by more experience playing games.....he's a prospect and needs time to develop but like others calling for Gray, Kaputska etc to be in the team....they're not because they're not ready..........yet and time will tell if they can prem players!

It seems plenty of people are writing him off though, on the basis of this game - I'm merely pointing out how ****ing stupid that is. We'll have to agree to disagree as, whilst he has weaknesses (he's 19) he clearly has something. He had little or no protection tonight and until the latter stages when everyone lost their heads, he did okay IMHO.

But you must have been watching a different game to me mate. I think Moses was told to get at him tonight.
funkyrobot Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Think the expectation has been raised by Klopp's interest and Chilwell himself holding out for a long time before signing a contract. It's early days and he's a young lad but you can't deny that he got ripped apart by Moses tonight. He is our left back if Fuchs gets injured so despite his age, he will have to step up quickly.
