Crinklyfox Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Last season we had a settled team of players who were confident and turned in performances that we couldn't have anticipated, we overachieved spectacularly. This season we have a stronger squad but have lost the form and confidence that took us to the title. Chelsea have a better team and they're showing it. We have to get some continuity and form back or we're in trouble. There will be easier matches than Chelsea away and we need results in those.

Losing Kante's energy and positional sense has left such a hole in front of the defence and we haven't adapted yet. DD and Amartey, two potentially creative players, are working overtime to get the ball back and then when they have it they're too tired, and sat too deep to start a counter and pick out a pass. We do need another body in MF and go one up front, or go to 5-3-2 if we want to compete in games. The problem is that leaves too many offensive wingers not able to get in the team (Schlupp, Mahrez, Gray, Albrighton, Musa) - what a fooking recruitment shambles. I wouldn't be bothered to see Musa and Jeff released and Albrighton's starting to go that way too

I thought Liverpool just outplayed us and you have to admire their performance but here and Man U it's more to do with how poor we've been than how good they are.

crazyleicester Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 A real shambles of a half and one of the worst 45 mins I have seen from us in years. Wes and Huth look like they have aged 5 years and especially watching Wes rooted to the peno spot like his feet were in cement was a really bad sight. Huth booked then handles the ball and kicks it away, almost like he wants to down tools and spent the rest of the game in the stands. I must admit I feel so sorry for three players today. Musa, Vardy and DD. Danny has done some nice things and is trying, Musa is running around like a lunatic but once again starved of the ball. We saw a glimpse of how to get the better out of him against Barca and lumping balls up with no accuracy isnt whats called for. Vardy will again get it in the neck but with DD playing so deep he isnt getting in the positions to pass through balls. I cant blame Ranieri on trying to mix it up but we seem to be lacking two things. One is creativity but the one that I cant fathom is desire. We are just not trying. We need a real kick up the ass to start putting it in and we need to get back to basics. I still cant get Wes out of my head from standing on the peno spot while Costa had a free run. Yeah Claudio will get as well but these lads selected need to take responsibility and start playing FFS!!!

Chelsea have the ball glued to their feet and we look like a flock of an under 9's team chasing it. Albrighton working hard, Vardy seemingly isolated, Amartey favours the easy pass which is sideways, safe or backwards, Drinky can't do it on his own, Jeff looks poor as does Huth and Morgan, Musa looks lightweight and anonymous, Hernandez seems to be finding space but without Mahrez there's no creative overlap and Fuchs is not having a shocker. 3 subs at HT please Claudio - Slimani for Musa, Mahrez for Geoff, and Zieler for Amartey.

Poor team selection again (how schlupp gets anywhere near the team is baffling) and the defending is just Sunday league quality. We have gifted Chelsea 2 goals like we gifted united 4 goals. Dan Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 You cannot live off last year forever. There's not a single bit of defence anyone can make for this. It's nothing short of a disgrace. Defending has been appalling, absolutely nothing going forward and a complete and utter lack of intensity throughout the side. You cannot make any excuse for it. It's worse than anything we served up in 2014/15, a season we were bottom for six months for, and it's the fourth time I've said that in just eight games this season.

We haven't improved, Man United were better on their day than chelsea are now... don't worry though, stay tuned, could still turn into a hammering.

Quite unbelievable really especially when the front 2 are vardy and musa if it was Okazaki can understand it a bit more
Beliall Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 We have always been shit yes, that much I can handle, but I have never seen our team play without any fight or desire, this season in the league has been disgraceful. A club of our size should not be prioritising the UCL. the only reason I can think is the owners want their brand in the competition as long a possible, and Ranieri wants to keep his job, so we are throwing league games before our UCL games, this has to stop or we will be fighting in the bottom half of the table all season.
yorkie1999 Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 We could turn into a joke team. Do we actually have a midfield any more. Too much emphasis on defending is taking our own players out the game. It's like watching a poor kids team that sits back.
