Super Mario Odyssey is an absolute must have game. An easy pick up and play game that i think would be perfect for you. By far the best Mario game ( i haven't played Wonder but even that i doubt will be better than Odyssey)

 

There are obvious big titles like the Zelda games but if you are a casual gamer then Zelda might be too intense, i cant imagine it being a game you could just have an hour here and there.

 

Get on the Nintendo Store and look for some deals. I for one am a lover of the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney games, if you like to solve crimes that are proper head scratchers then its brilliant.

I love the thing, and the Switch has been the platform that a large % of my favourite games of recent times sits on, but the internal hardware was garbage on launch and was showing it's age years ago.  Long overdue.

I think at the same time the cost and retained value of switch games is a real issue. It isn't a cheap console to have or enjoy.

I have an Xbox One and Switch. I much prefer the Switch, but if a game is available on both, I'll always buy the Xbox one (second hand), as it's always so much cheaper than second hand Switch game.

Yeah kind of glorified mobile phone gaming technology at this point. Still love it though and will probably buy the new one a year or so after launch.

Really liked the look of the new 2D Zelda, should be great fun, and enjoyed that same artstyle in the Links Awakening remake.

 

Also - Metroid Zero Mission, Turok and Perfect Dark all on NSO, today! Had to immediately pause the direct, get the N64 Switch pad out and start charging it at that point.

 

Felt sorry for RPG fans though, barely anything announced for them...

Best to register interest with a few different companies and you’ll probably get one. I managed to get 3 PS5’s on launch day using that method and gave 2 of those to family. 
 

Im going to need 2 Switch 2’s for Christmas for my kids, so hoping for the same luck.

Hell of an era the Switch. My favourite console since N64 and this is still my favourite ever video game trailer.

I brought the Switch on release eagerly waiting for Metroid Prime 4. How has it took this long for it to come out  

 

I actually cant wait for this. I feel like Nintendo are going to smash it out the park. If they announce a new Zelda that sticks to the original formula (much prefer the normal formula to BOTW/TOTK) then i will be a happy man.

 

A new 3D Mario is always welcome. Odyssey is a masterpiece

Yeah I would imagine a big part on Mario Kart and probably also a the next 3D Mario platformer. Maybe they say a Zelda is in development but that’s probably a bit too soon.

 

I’m pretty certain we’ll get some mention of the Zelda franchise though, so if it’s not a teaser for a new one, I would absolutely adore an Ocarina of Time remake.

The big reveal was Donkey Kong and Kirby Air Riders. Meh

 

As much as i love Zelda ive never played a Hyrule Warriors game so that hasnt filled me with excitement

 

Honestly the most exciting thing i found was the Gamecube games coming to the Switch 2. If they release Skies of Arcadia i will be a very happy man. 

 

Has it made me want to pre order the Switch 2? Probably not

I kind of agree. Mario Kart and GameCube did it for me, although gutted Zelda: WW got the nod over Zelda: TP (criminally underrated Zelda game) for now.

 

My kids loved the Mario Kart trailer, so will probably be getting it day 1 anyway. DK is out in the summer and Kirby isn’t a strong enough franchise to be a system seller, so I still think 3D Mario will be their holiday title. They’ll probably reveal it at a summer direct.

Zelda TP being criminally underrated i agree 1 million %. Its by far my favorite Zelda game. Still prefer that over TOTK (BOTW i think is terrible, TOTK corrected some of my most hated points of BOTW but still hasn't topped TP as my fave Zelda)

 

Yea Mario Kart looks great. I also like the Game chat feature. Mario Party would be a right laugh with the Game Chat

I’ve done the same.

 

Lucky really as a pre ordered one in Northern Ireland on Smyths about 10 minutes before so this saves me a long commute

I don’t see the hype for the Switch 2 now? It’s entering a market where the performance of the hardware itself is still going to be inferior to PC, XBox and PlayStation.
 

As a console it is essentially a glorified phone tablet isn’t it? My daughter rarely uses hers, preferring the iPad or PS5 for gaming. 

Mario Kart repackaged for the umpteenth time at £60+ isn’t appetising for me 

 

Zelda though …… if they release another breath of the wild …. I’m buying it for that

In terms of lifecycle, a Switch 2 was overdue. It's been 8 years since the introduction of the first one. You see other consoles getting major updates after four, five years.

 

The console itself isn't the issue for me. I've preordered one. I think in terms of technology it's a great step forward. Let's also not forget they've upgraded the docking station.

Adjusted for inflation, the NES was more expensive, the SNES on a similar level.

 

What I find disappointing is Nintendo's pricing for the Switch 2 games. We've seen game prices falling for the past few decades, and now the're becoming more expensive again.

Also, the "glorified updates" for certain titles seems to be a bit of a scam. The differences in graphics would need to be major in order to justify shelling out big bucks again for what essentially is the same game.

Add to that the absurdity of having to pay for a game that explains the console for you.

 

I do hope Nintendo to be more straightforward and open about what games are down-compatible. I don't want to renew my entire games library.
