England team facing drinking ban after ten stars party in nightclub until 4.30am

Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney last night apologised after pictures emerged of him looking worse for wear on a night out.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is furious with FA staff for supposedly neglecting their care of duty given there were officials with Rooney at the bar in the England team hotel on Saturday.

And according to The Sun, up to TEN England players went out in London on Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday morning - when they were due to report back for training.

The players in question have not been named, but the FA will now review their policy on how players and staff spent their free time while on international duty.

They are grown men.  Up to them how they spend their free time.  If they then have a crap game though, they should fully expect to have their commitment and attitude questioned.

To be fair, if they're expected to be present on Sunday morning then they shouldn't be on the piss till 4.30.

No harm in going out when they've got the next day off but it's unprofessional and you'd expect the England squad to behave.

Yeah it's no different to how most workplaces don't appreciate their employees stumbling in on a Thursday morning still half drunk from the night before, in fact I'd say this is worse given how most jobs don't require you to be physically fitter than 99% of the population

They weren't due to report for training until Sunday afternoon.

They had been given the evening and following morning off

I think they were sill in the team hotel and were invited to join a wedding taking place there.

Hardly a big deal

in a world where there is a always a camera in your face and where everything you do gets mentioned again and again on social media these footballers should know not to give any ammunition to the press it's just common sense. if they want a few drinks then do it in your hotel room or go to a private bar where you will not be seen. these are professional sportmen and should take their job seriously, yes they deserve much needed down time but it doesn't mean they have to get drunk and act stupidly. why don't they spend the down time with their families after all they always complain they don't get enough time with them. why is it always England we hear these stories and never any other football team

I guess because people get all offended / outraged!  So the press know they can cause an outrage!  OUTRAGE!!!!

Has a football team ever turned up to a game as drunk as ours did the next game after we sealed promotion to the Prem? We won the league a few years later as well so maybe more teams should just get pissed

I suppose maybe this story puts us one step closer to people collectively turning on the media rather than the players.

No surprise that the FA caved in as per.

Imagine a 30 year old bloke having to apologise for going out on a Saturday night and getting drunk.

Guessing you aren't married mate.

Rooney going out on his own was fine but if they all went out together then that's great. A bit of team spirit in the England team would make a welcome change.

One thing that I didn't think of.

There are pictures of Rooney completely bolloxed on the front page of every paper with him in his Vauxhall sponsored England training kit. Can't imagine they're best pleased.

I'd agree them all going out on the piss together is a good thing but not if they've got training the next day.

Still the FA shouldn't have any control over what these players do in their spare time.

As the ten havent been named yet I presume Vards was leading the way in the drinking session?!

You'd have thought so from his heavily tired eyes against Spain.
