Vardy's 2nd Goal Today!

It's a great pass and contributes to what makes it such a great goal, but it's the sort of thing you see probably once a game. I've never seen anything like that touch from Mahrez.

And Mahrez made it look so effortless! It might not have gotten the accolades it deserved on British TV, but it was chosen as THE moment of this weekend's games on Danish TV by Brian Laudrup and Mikkel Bischoff ahead of Hendrick's and Costa's goals.

Was sayin to my old man that we needed to play long balls like that because we had so much space and time to be creative behind and just in front of their defense.

Soon as the ball left Fuch's boot I said "That's the ball!"

What happened next was sheer mesmeric joy, the way the ball was controlled and perfected to Vardy from Mahrez was just unbelievable. He could have controlled a meteor hurtling from space at 20,000mph with that touch, without killing so much as a blade of grass in the process.... a thing of pure elegance, simplistic beauty and the epitome of deft.

Not quite.

Hoofing the ball to the wingers or (small) strikers when they're marked and a deep lying defense already in place and hoping they'd come up with something - god knows what - is a bit different than a pinpoint long pass on a break against a completely desorganized, high defending back 3.

No it wasn't. That's a load of absolute rubbish.

It was an intelligent, accurate pass to someone making a clever run in to space.

What "this forum has been crying over" is clueless punts either deep in to the channels to Vardy out wide or aimlessly at the head of Shinji or Slim.

I know you don't mean it, hence the 'rolls eyes' smiley but there was nothing 'hoof ball' about that ball from Fuchs. We've been guilty of hoofing aimlessly up the pitch on many occasions so far this season, but this was not one of those occasions.

Great vision and technique from Fuchs.

Shame we couldn't accommodate Mahrez and Knockers in the same side. Possibly the best two ball players we have ever had.

Mahrez still comes up as a spell check error -whats the lad got to do to get in the dictionary !

Knockaert is a smashing lad and a tryer, but he's not even in the top 20 of our best players.

Amazing that they looked about par when Mahrez first showed up, in fact, I'd have given it to Knockaert just about for his confidence if nothing else.

Sadly, as well as having sod all pace the boy is also thick as fvck. Mahrez can be selfish at times but he sees the game, he reads it. Knockaert was just all over the place.

That brace at Huddersfield is still probably the best brace I've ever seen, mind. Absolutely ridiculous. The first one must have gone in from about two hundred and sixty metres and the second was football porn.

At least someone grasped out at my sublime humerous wit..:P

Knocky was unfortunately born with quite short legs I blame the parents,

\he was good though was he not.Hope he gets back here with Brighton next year should get a great reception without doubt.I can still see andy king trying to head the ball after it it was in via the scorpion kick.

The touch for Slimani as well was outstanding that led to our first goal. I genuinely think his ball control is the best in the world atm. A bit more consistency and he could genuinely win the ballon d'or one day.

Agreed, and his second assist was just as good, he showed  poise, patience and control.

You all seem to forget, that without Fuchs's fantastic 40 yards pass

to Mahrez, Vardy's second goal would not have happened.

How much credit does he get?

Correct.

Just for balance in this Riyad love in.

I'm pretty sure the difference in Mahrez today was the one thing being talked about - passing. Not only the great touches but the fact that he actually passed to a team mate.

Game after game this season he has not looked to keep things simple, but has constantly ran into blind alleys when marked by two or even three defenders.

He has been far too selfish.

The first half today more often than not he passed the ball instead of dribbling.......to devastating effect.

Thats what we have missing from him, rather than the constant of trying to display a virtuoso freestyle dribbling performance in circumstances which make a positive outcome impossible.
