Matt Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 I've gotta question their fitness you know. I'm seeing alot of lack of intrest. enthusiasm, quality comments and I can't disagree but also I personally wonder if it's lack of fitness aswell which could answer a few of the other 3 things suggest.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 We are fortunate that there are at least 2 poorer teams in the league than us in Hull and Swansea. Then it's anyone from us, Palace, Sunderland, Burnley, Boro. Strap yourselves in.
Spudulike Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Hadn't realised that Everton hadn't won away since September. That would explain the OTT goal celebrations and shirt chucking etc. Expected a bit more decorum and general coolness from fans and players, to be honest.
MC Prussian Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 6 hours ago, Struwwelpeter60 said: It is very simple. Last season he played in both games against Everton (because Huth was banned), and he did well. He has the right physique to keep Lukaku at bay. I guess, that is, what Ranieri was thinking, before he decided to field him. It's not that simple - maybe in your theory. Wasilewski has barely played (even less than Hernandez, I think). And yesterday, his lack of pace showed. Physique is one thing, but Lukaku is also pretty fast if need be. It's also worth remembering that with the rules against clamping, physique has become even less important when defending or works against you as a defender because it leaves you with a lot less options. The FA has obviously an interest in a more spectacular, less physical but fast brand of football, augmenting the speed of play and increasing the amount of goals scored per game. Oh, and don't tell me neither Hernandez nor Benalouane wouldn't have the physique to handle Lukaku.

Guest Danny Clender Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 I missed the game yesterday and just catching up through the posts on here. I genuinely think I'm worried now. What's the feeling from the stands? Is there any 'Ranieri Out' sentiment? I'm still not asking for Ranieri to go and definitely not advocating we should, but nobody in football management is immortal. Anybody got a fix for the situation?

VLC86 Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 I just think we might be a little bit shit. I mean, how in anything above Sunday league is it possible for the keeper to get an assist from a goal kick
dedlock Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Their first goal was almost a copy of the goal we conceded to Middlesborough. A lack of concentration or communication between the centre backs. To paraphrase Lady Bracknell, To lose one such goal,Mr Ranieri, may be misfortune,to lose both is careless. We haven't learnt from our mistakes.

We haven't learnt from our mistakes. Again..if you really look at both goals we conceded yesterday, why we're our two slow and ageing centre backs left completely isolated for both goals? Yes, it was schoolboy defending for both, there is no getting away from that. But their first goal was scored by one of the quickest players on the park and their second goal was scored by Lukaku who you just KNOW, will muscle defenders (even bigger defenders) out of it when one on one. Why did our centre mids or the fullbacks not drop off a little, especially from the goal kick? The Lukaku goal was a weird one. In fact, he took quite some time to get the ball past Morgan, work it into the box, jog past bloody Wasa, then finish it. If you watch, you'll see one of our centre mids jogging back towards our own area (no names mentioned), having had time to get much nearer the play than he did, but lack of anticipation meant that he actually was nowhere near being able to cover and make a challenge. i don't get it Claudio. We knew that we had old and slow CB's, yet we left them isolated both occasions and that was actually what lost us the game.
spionkop1969 Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 First post. Obviously saddened and disappointed with results so far, which I find inexplicable given largely the same team/set up as last season. Winning the title was bizarre, and the thought of being relegated the following season is equally bizarre. It will surely be occupying the minds of sports coaches, sports psychologists and the like as to how on earth such a thing can happen – it surely is not down to one person, or one player.
eastendfox Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Too many posts ignoring the fact that they took their chance and we (Ulloa) missed ours. Two poor teams, but we weren't much worse, they came to not lose and our attack couldn't deal with their seven man defence.
Raj Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 IF,and I hate saying IF...Ulloa had directed that header either side of the goalie....

Probably one of only two starters to come out of this game with a shred of credibility. Slimani and Albrighton should be shot at dawn for their performances today. A few others scraping through with just a good hiding. If a manager can't get any performances from a team then eventually the manager comes into question. Today though, in all honesty it was more about the lack of technical ability of too many players. Yup. I'm normally one to criticise Amartey, but he was much improved today. He did give the ball away carelessly on a few occasions (who didn't?), but his tackling was much more on point, and forward passing improved immensely also. He certainly wasn't the problem today (he can't do much if the ball is kicked straight over his head by the goal keeper....). Him, Gray and Chillwell did better than anyone else on the pitch.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 December 2016 Posted 27 December 2016 Col effectively blaming Amartey for Wes and Wasyl's abysmal defending. Have a day off, man - we get it.

I do not and did not blame Amartey for either goal. Instead, I made the point that we left two ageing defenders isolated for both. The first against a speed merchant, the second against a powerhouse. And asked the question why was this? Where was any sort of cover, especially for the second goal? But in your normal way, you won't discuss this, you'll come out with an glib remark. I said it was schoolboy defending. It was. But look at the bigger picture. Namely, that we've conceded more goals this season than any of us thought we would. Already. Watch the second goal back and tell me that neither of our centre mids had any time to at least TRY to get back.

At least that is a positive That was probably the only positive from yesterdays game that the young players performed well. Chilwell showed that he can step up and Gray likewise. Amartey is improving every game. It's time we get back to basics, as we need points quickly before panic sets in. At present we're not to good to go down but a couple of wins can work wonders to moral and our league position. On the other hand I just cannot believe CR cannot see whats wrong with the Team. It seems it's glaringly obviously to everyone but him.

We should have had Mendy with Amartey and Drinkwater.Amartey and Mendy to block and mop up. Drinkwater to do the nice passes and attack. With then Gray and Mahrez attack alongside Ulloa or Slimani (definitely Ulloa on form).

You might not specifically say Amartey but the forum and its dog knows who you're referring to here. Don't try to be smart, you just look like a colossal tit. I don't know what you've got against him, but it's as ridiculous as your cambiasso vendetta. Amartey has been inconsistent, but he's not one of the many that has rested on their laurels from last season or even regressed. He's no kante replacement, there's very few players in the world that would be, but he's not the problem, certainly not ahead of Wes and huth letting themselves get bullied by all and sundrie, or Albrighton having no end product, or Vardy lacking the agression and determination of last year, before we even talk about musa, slimani or Hernandez and how they've bedded in.
