Donut Posted 2 January 2017 Author Posted 2 January 2017 Rob Ullathorne must have had some mental strength. Was still playing after his Leicester career after two broken legs.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Ian Walker - made some mistakes when we got relegated from the Prem but was a classy keeper the vast majority of the time. James Scowcroft - used to get a lot of stick but did a real job out of position for us and I thought he was always reliable
TheUltimateWinner Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Dyer - Outlasted different managers and philosophies but was always effective when called upon

Got him for nothing if I remember correctly and went on to score quite a lot of important goals for us, especially in the promotion season. Got a reputation for only scoring penalties from people on here. And we still got a good fee for him when he went Boro You also got the impression he was a great man to have around the club, always joking around. Loved his persona on the pitch Agree with this too. Never a prolific PL striker but he's quite a good player in general, I rate his link-up play.

Loved his persona on the pitch I think people underestimate the importance of the last point. Having players like Nugent, Fuchs etc round the club is great for morale. They keep everyone's spirits up and their antics take pressure off. Important to have even if they barely play.
crazyleicester Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Gary McAllister He doesnt seem to get mentioned in these types of threads and even when he was a TV pundit or even manager never got mentioned as a former player of ours but gets mentioned as ex Liverpool or Coventry! His passing, skills and all round play was the first time I saw what an all round midfielder was "live". He was quality. I was so gutted when he went to dirty Leeds but thank him for being a jewel amongst some real shite, especially during the Pleat days.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Ian Marshall, proper CF, could do with him now.

filbertway Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Yeah, I think I have to agree with Nugent. We always looked better with him in the team. I think that fact he had a poor miss in the locker automatically meant the brain dead equated that to him being a poor player. He could be frustrating at times but one look at that cheeky smile and it was hard not to forgive him.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Bruno Berner was disgracefully shunned aside by Sven despite being nothing but perennially reliable.

The Lloyd was a great servant for this club and never moaned or complained. Still a crying shame he missed out on Prem footie and the way he departed...

Channy'sboots Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Andy Feeley. Ex painter& decorator who got lucky or grafting full back who operated in old div 1 and never got a chasing, I remember him playing the game of his life for us against Manchester United at Filbert Street. He was up against Strachan, Whiteside and Hughes and dished out some fearsome tackles that day.
shen Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Can't comment on players before the late 90s as that's before my time as a Leicester supporter. Think Dickov was influential during his first stint here and shone both the promotion and subsequent relegation season. People acknowledged it then, but there aren't many shout outs for him these days. I always found Callum Davidson to be very solid and versatile too.
foxy boxing Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Lloyd Dyer- played really well for us and was a constant threat on the wing

Who do you think are the players that maybe deserved more credit, or ones that actually had a bit of talent that didnt seem to get picked up on much? I think theres a few for me that fall into this category in more recent times: Theo Zagorakis - A great leader for Greece and just happened to be around at the time of Savage, Lennon and Izzet so his game time was limited. But a very good midfield player Callum Davidson - I thought he had great attacking intent and was a good all round full back for the time he was here. Billy McKinlay - In the premier league season under Micky Adams, he always seemed to be a 100% man in a lot of games that were lost causes and what he lacked in talent he made up for with sheer determination and hard work, allowing our better players more freedom. Jonny Hayes - I think this was an unhearalded Rob Kelly signing, but when he played he actually looked like a tricky winger who had good crossing ability, considering our side as a lower mid table championship team. His name seems to regularly pop up for goals and assists now he is playing for Aberdeen Just wondered what people thought? Pretty sure Hayes was a Martin Allen signing?
