Got him for nothing if I remember correctly and went on to score quite a lot of important goals for us, especially in the promotion season. Got a reputation for only scoring penalties from people on here. And we still got a good fee for him when he went Boro Very good shout i agree
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Steve Howard. Helped rescue us from the dark days and set us on the right path. That play off game at Cardiff he was a man mountain.
Chico1958 Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Mark Wallington took over from 2 greats pity he went to Derby..................... But I forgive him

onekeithweller Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Weller. He would have been an England regular if he'd played for Liverpool, Man. U. etc.
GazzinderFox Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Steve Guppy. Did what he did very well, you could garuntee 10 decent crosses into the box every game, Ian Marshall and those big centre backs in particular did well out of his supply line. Slimani could do with someone like him to play with right now.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Bobby Smith great player very underrated imho
Tielemans63 Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Might get shot down here but I think Matt Oakley was an underrated player for us. He's not always remembered fondly because he joined us the season we got relegated and then his career fizzled out pretty quickly and he became a bit of a liability by the end. However for two seasons he was a mainstay of the midfield and a very solid performer. He captained us brilliantly the year we won League 1 when we really were in danger of doing a Sheffield United and then played very well the next season to help us finish in the playoffs. As I say, sadly his legs had gone by the time he went and from a fans POV he was probably here 18 months longer than he should have been but for 2 and a half years he was a good player and a good captain. He just suffered a bit from being unspectacular.
SystonFox Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Nugent and Oakley two cracking shouts. andy king in more recent years. Matty fryatt (who's now disappeared off the face of the earth)
1972 Fox Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Muzzy Izzet for me. Not underrated by us Leicester fans but much underrated by so many others. Was good enough for England and should have been capped many times rather than playing for Turkey.
murphy Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Ian Wilson. Everyone (who is old enough) remembers the Lynex, Lineker, Smith forward line and I think that Ian Wilson suffers from being the other one on the left from that team. Classy player though IMO.
Corky Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 I'd go for Nugent. Free transfer yet scored 60 goals in four years, formed a brilliant league winning partnership with Vardy, worked his bollocks off and even in a tough Premier League season scored four goals in matches that helped us to claim points. Never the best player but certainly one of the better servants pre-last season in the past 15 years.

Loved his persona on the pitch Agreed, love the nuge
Koke Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Iain Hume Played for us when we were a pub team but he was better than 95% of our squads at the time. Akways gave 100% and came up with some vital goals. He wasn't a great player by any means but I do think he deserves a bit more respect than he got. Also, for a guy who is 5'7 he won an amazing amount of headers against 6'2/6'3 defenders.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Some right stinkers in this thread! Supposed to be most underrated. Oakley, Howard and Hume, B I N
SuperMike Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Good shouts, Iain Hume and Ian Wilson! Also remember Kevin ROOSTER Russell and going back many years hardman Bobby Kellard.

Played really well when we were one up and under the cosh with his hold up play and intelligence. That's probably my shout too. Beyond the jokes he was actually a fairly tidy footballer. It was a very smart signing.
