I remember people writing similar brain dead posts to this in Vardy and Drinkwater's first season here. Some people are too stubborn or too thick to learn I guess. 5 starts.
EGBFitness Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 The lad is frustrating as hell! Im not sure if it's him being a poor player or what he is being told how to play. He doesn't run with the ball, he can't control it, he has no strength at all and any moment he has the ball under control he is looking to get rid of it as quickly as possible even if he is in a shooting range/area to run into. Maybe we are playing him out of position? I was confused and frustrated why we didn't play him up top on his own for the last 20 mins today. We was sitting deeper and deeper and whenever the ball was pumped up boro back line had no pressure on the ball and was allowed time to build play back up. Thought he could of played abit of a Vardy role on the last defender with the pace I thought he had
elvisfmcfly Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Our fans don't give new players a chance but underperforming managers get forever to get it right! The lads barely had a chance like the rest of the new signings
ousefox Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 I want to give him a chance, but he's one of the few players I've seen who I genuinely don't believe there's more to come from him. I hope I'm wrong but we've barely even seen glimpses of talent from him.

Koke Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Him and Okazaki are similar in many ways. No technical ability. Lightweight. Rarely scores. Never assists. Shocking ball control. But people bizarrely rate Okazaki because he runs around a lot and hassles the opposition. I expect more from a #10 but people get emotional when you point out how bad of a footballer he is. Musa is appalling. But we need to find a position for him. He doesn't look good though.

murphy Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Disappointing so far. Poor that he can't get a start even when Vardy is suspended and Slim is out. Yes it is early days but I don't think that it is unreasonable to have expected more from him.

To be fair Oki did score 3 game winners last year to net us 9 pts, make him ok in my eyes!
Izzy Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 He's only had half a season in a new country with new team mates and has been in and out of the team. For me he's shown a bit of a lack of confidence sometimes when he's had chances to shoot, and hasn't taken the responsibility on himself. I still hope he'll come good, but it might be next season until we see the best of him once he's truly integrated and settled in. Too soon to write him off IMO so maybe we should all get behind him and support him, rather than slag him off and take the piss eh?
Callabinho Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 You can be critical of a player who's cost close to £20million and can't even control a football properly....the Russian media did warn us that he was more bad than good, the lads got pace and that's it, he's useless and will be gone in January IMO.

Mahrez and Vardy really carried this team offensively last season.

I think the fact that he started regularly as a number 10 in a title winning team is more indicative of the irrelevance of the statistics you're quoting than anything else. He was an absolutely critical part of our team last season.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Some players hit the ground running (Kante, Kramaric, Huth etc) other needs time to grow (Amartey, Mendy, Musa)... Its just that our predicament doesn't allow for players to grow into the team, last season would have been perfect. I'm sure he's a good player, but like Amartey needed time, he does too.

At the risk of you claiming that I'm being emotional about Okazaki, this is probably the silliest thing you've ever posted.
Kitchandro Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 I said the same thing during the game. Ali Dia reincarnated.
The Doctor Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Think people are getting carried away here, he's not looked great but similarly he's in a new country, only been here six months and he's not really got a run in the side. What's the longest run he's had? To my mind it's palace through to being subbed v west brom. Two and a half games, and tbf to him he scored 2 and if I remember rightly assisted one in that run.
Bamba's Babes Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Utterly, completely and unfortunately useless. Dud.

I agree with the youngsters like Amarteya but with players that cost seven figures with champions league experience I expect to see some signs of quality. How much time do we give Benalouane? Look at Gokhan Inler. We do seem to have an uncanny knack of picking duds recently.

Firstly why are you sure he's a good player? All evidence suggests he's appalling. He's got no ability or brain power at all. He's marginally better than Schlupp because he tries. Secondly you talk like Amartey has proven something whereas the reality is he still looks absolutely hopeless. Again, he can't control or pass a football and doesn't win many tackles. He's nowhere near the quality we should expect. He's a championship player.

I personally thought when Kram joined he made an instant impact in games, yet didn't get many due to being out of favour. But everyones entitled to an opinion!

He set up the second goal against Stoke as I recall, with a nice side pass to Fuchs, who put in the cross that scored. Certainly he has been frustratingly patchy, but at times he has showed real skill. We will need him and Grey while Slimani and Mahrez are at the AfCon. In the right formation (433) I think we will see him at his best.

I don't think he was our worst player today and in the past few games he's looked our most consistent midfielder. His passing looks better and his interceptions are becoming more notable. He could go the other way and decline, but since he first started playing in midfield, in my opinion, he's only improved over time. In terms of Musa, I just don't want to write him off yet, he's not had many games (although he's been poor in all performances) but I think he should be given more time before we form an opinion (me wishing he turns out to be good is just a hopeful prediction).
