thegaffa Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Take out vardys goals since he signed , he has been a pest virtually game in game out prior to this season. if Vardy only scored a couple of goals from now until the end of the season but had his high workrate style of play, I would be relatively happy as he would be giving his all. unfortunately without the ball he has zero interest in winning it back and that's not acceptable.

josh_baskin Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Probably he's dwelling on the fact he could have signed for Arsenal.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 The Vardy of old would create chances for himself out of nothing. The Vardy of olds off the ball work was sensational and made him the player he was. He isn't that player this season, yes he isn't receiving the same service, but he also isn't the same player as he was in the past. Call it lack of confidence, motivation or whatever but he isn't the same anymore, the attitude seems to have changed. Vardy along with the rest of the team need to remember what made them the team last season, the hardworking, dedication and perseverance, not just for themselves but for the team. Last season we were a band of brothers, now we're just a team of individuals, a mixture of some poor players, some low on confidence players and some poor attitude players.

Suddenly, his mere presence lifted his team mates. He said the same thing about Spurs when they brought on Alli. This for me was his main point.......'suddenly the forwards start running again, because they know the ball is coming' Footballers are just people. They will get completely frustrated when they are working with others who aren't on their wavelength. In happens in the workplace every day. I'm not expecting many on here to get this point, or to agree. But for me, it answers the question, at least in large part. Vardy is making the runs and time and time and time again he's not getting the ball anymore. We have a rubbish midfield offensively. All this talk about Mendy, Amartey...they are not creative in any sense of the word. Drinkwater looks disinterested, King can pick a pass, but gets over run. This is why we aren't seeing the same thing from Vardy this season IMO. I agree with Shearer...that Vardy has made his fame and that it's MUCH harder to stay at the top. But I agree mainly with Murphy. We don't have a Coutinho or an Alli, or a Pogba or a Yaya. Our forwards must be fooked off having to play in front of this rubbish. I fully agree with the rubbish in the midfield and lack of service. I'm livid every time I see Morgan, Huth or any of the midfielder trying to hoof the ball in his direction. But Slim is living on the same scraps, yet still scores more and have arguably more influence on the front than Vardy. I think that Vardy must reassess and adapt his game because the space behind the defenses is much smaller than last years. He ran riot against ManCity because of Peps hubris and will still do very well against high defensive lines, but I'm afraid this won't be the case very often.

Guest Danny Clender Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 2012/13 = poor season 2013/14 = good season 2014/15 = poor season 2015/16 = good season 2016/17 = poor season I'm no expert here, but that looks like a pattern to me. Can we really afford a 50/50 player?
Dan Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 I honestly don't know. I'm inclined to say a mixture of a few things. It could be motivation but I don't know what's in it for him to not give everything. Col's point is spot on too and I feel the same about Mahrez. The pair of them have proven they can be deadly at this level. We shouldn't drag that down, we should be doing everything to try and bring it back. It doesn't just stop happening for no reason.

Mike Oxlong Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Jamie's fine. We're playing Chappers whist JV is busy with his media commitments.
justfoxes Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Some think that Vardy not signing for Arsenal last summer was a great bit of business that didn't happen !! Some on here think with his performances so far it was our loss we didn't sell him ?? http://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/fixtures-results/lucas-perez-performance-southampton-proves-12522920

MattCan Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Critics opinions: disinterest, loss of pace, wife. Fans opinions: lack of service. Close thread

Rialto 290352 Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Then a midfield player is available for about £10 million who can pass a long ball accurately and is competitive, Snodgrass. We show no interest even though it would be well worth buying him to strengthen the midfield and also to keep him away from improving rival teams. ?????????????
NewEnglandFox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Even when he was getting service I've seen him looking for layoffs and not turning towards goal. I don't get it.
OhForFoxSake Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 5 hours ago, filthyfox said: For 6 months?.... are you an ostrich? Vardy doesn't seem to have the same maniacal intensity this season... maybe he doesn't take the same 'supplements' any more. Because last season when I looked at him I always had the thought 'a wise philosopher once wrote...'

Stevosevic Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 He used to offer something to the team even if he didn't score - can't say that now.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 People can talk about service and there's some truth in that but Vardy's not working hard enough to create his own chances. I could accept if he was being a nuissance and putting himself about but not scoring because chances aren't being created for him. As things stand, he's just a passenger and looks like he's lost all of that desire that made him the player he was.
Bob Hazels shorts Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 There is a lack of camaraderie that we witnessed last season. There is obviously multiple nationalities, more so than last season and not all speak good English, some very little. Its not a case of Kante going and one player slotting in. We have signed and tried to accommodate 7 players and others for development that will take time to slot in. The squad last year were mostly accustomed to the surroundings and newcomers were absorbed easier, that was noticeable. The spirit is difficult to get across and the customary banter is not the same if explained slowly. Other teams have a similar situation but in fairness are better players, we are dependent on that spirit. .................Doesn't help that the players are also rich beyond their wildest dreams.
Mywifehitmuzzybyaccident Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 I still see him making some really clever runs into great areas, we just can't hit him with the ball like last year. Playing with Demari must do his head in.....
HighPeakFox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 One or two people have alluded to the whole team being below par. I really think that in Vardy's case, this is the more relevant point. I don't think it's worth dwelling on individuals and pointing the finger (however justified it is), and finding reasons that may or may not be accurate as to why. The whole team is out of kilter, and I would want him there when the jigsaw fits back together again.
