Ted Maul Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Yeah I'd class tomorrow more as must not lose. We need to get past our difficult fixtures neck and neck ready to pick up some form when we get to a more favourable run of games.

It's just the term "Must win" is over hyping bollocks if we lose people will say hull at home is must win aka lose tommororw and there are still other so called must win games to save our season aka it is not must win just a big game. PS talking of must win am i the only person who thinks a point would be a decent result? a point against a relation-side is not a decent result, no way
adejo92 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Must win match, end of. We need to pick up points and if we can't get 3 against our relegation rivals then i don't see who we will get 3 against.
Roosters boots Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Aren't all games must win ? Thats the the whole point if it surely ?
Mike Oxlong Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I'm banking on the teams below us losing all their games save for getting draws against each other. Only need a couple more wins. Might be tough though
Guest Danny Clender Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 If we win today I will rename my son, Mustwin.
WigstonWanderer Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 12 hours ago, The whole world smiles said: This phrase really annoys me, I've see a few people say it about Saturday. Really the only must win games in football are 1 legged cup ties and when losing or drawing means you mathematicaly can't achieve your aims. Spurs away at Chelsea last season was must win for them. The great escape season made me appreciate what a bollocks expression it is. we must have lost or drew 6 or 7 "must win games" and still finished 13th! It's early Feb and a loss won't even put us in the relegation zone. This is the exact opposite of a so called must win. However regardless of the result a much improved performance is definitely required we need to see the players fighting for their lives and creating some good chances to lift everyone a lift going into the final 3rd of the season. I understand what you're saying and the phrase is overused, however the great escape is probably not a very good example. It eventually took an almost superhuman effort for the last 9 matches (top of the table form I believe) to get us out of the mess we were in. No one should assume that we can do anything like that again. 12 hours ago, st albans fox said: It's a 'must not lose' game I agree but fear that this will mean that we go there playing for a draw. In practice this will mean sitting back for most of the match, letting them come on to our shaky defence. No chance of that succeeding for the whole 90 mins, and when we inevitably concede, heads will drop and we will lose. Need to be bold and play for the win. Pearson learnt this the hard way during the escape season.
sylofox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I don't get this? We all want the best for our team. Look at last season to finish top every game is a must win game. No you do not have to win every game 3 defeats and some draws won us the league. But once we had gotten ourselves into a position at Xmas every game was must win. For a different reason than any other season but still must win games. I'm sure Sir AF started every season thinking we can lose six games and draw a couple and still win the league NOT. If you want to win leagues gain promotion qualify for Europe every games is a must win game champions don't start games thinking we can lose this one or it won't matter if we lose. No prizes for coming second in this game. Just as there is nothing in it for bottlers.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Splitting hairs I reckon, ok it's not a "must win" but we definitely need to win.
Crinklyfox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I can't see us managing 40 points this season. Our survival will depend on how we perform against our relegation rivals, starting today. Sunderland and Palace are still stuttering but Hull and Swansea are looking better so unless we raise our game and play to our potential we're going to be in the mire. We have a few 'must win' games to come but even more 'must not lose', this is the first.
Wolfox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I'm with the OP.... too much hyperbole and too much pressure on me as a supporter otherwise... 3 points would be very welcome though
maddog Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 If we draw we stay above Swansea. It's a must draw game this one.
norwichfox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I'll take a draw today....but much rather we won this must win game

In fact I'll take the solitary point now if offered but I'm still hoping we can win. What a great boost for us if we can go into the Millwall and Sevilla games knowing we have a 4pt breathing space from the relegation zone. We could play the reserves against Millwall and really put everything into the Sevilla game. This time in a fortnight we might be on the verge of a great season if things go to plan.

If they can't beat a relegation threatened team at home then what chance do they have? I'm happy for Swansea to get a point against us as they need to beat us more than we need to beat them.
ithuriel Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 To reach the 40 point mark we need six wins and a draw from our remaining games, that is almost one win every two games and we play Liverpool at home in the league next who have just broken their losing run. We really cant afford to not go into games with the mindset of this is not a must win game because until we reach 40 points, they all are.

foxinsocks Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Ideal it is a must win by 3 goals type of turning point opportunity
