The whole world smiles Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 This phrase really annoys me, I've see a few people say it about Saturday. Really the only must win games in football are 1 legged cup ties and when losing or drawing means you mathematicaly can't achieve your aims. Spurs away at Chelsea last season was must win for them. The great escape season made me appreciate what a bollocks expression it is. we must have lost or drew 6 or 7 "must win games" and still finished 13th! It's early Feb and a loss won't even put us in the relegation zone. This is the exact opposite of a so called must win. However regardless of the result a much improved performance is definitely required we need to see the players fighting for their lives and creating some good chances to lift everyone a lift going into the final 3rd of the season.

foxy boxing Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 We really need to win tomorrow just to show that we can win an away game and stop the rot. We need to keep pace with those around us and give ourselves a chance.
davieG Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 Points wise you may be correct but confidence wise it's a must win game because we really need to start scoring and picking up 3 points the longer the barren spell goes on the sooner we'll arrive at our must win game for points
Jattdogg Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 Its a must win game because: -who we are playing (relegation rival) -if we dont start winning then we will get relegated -we need to go on a run to gain confidence -it annoys you
Fox92 Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 We've got to win tomorrow really though. Point doesn't push us far enough. A win is a small cushion.
Chico1958 Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 I don't see it as a must win game More of a musn't lose game We need to get a point at the very least but don't think Swansea will roll over Word down here is Paul Clement has galvinized the team and they are up for the fight. Let's just hope we get the run of the green
Guest the fox Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 I truly think that the team can pull another man city game and get 3 points against a top 6 side . COYF??
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 I agree entirely. During the 14/15 season I recall people saying that our home match against West Brom (the one in early November for those who don't recall) was a 'must win' game. I reckon we must have failed to win at least five games which were labelled as 'must win' by a good chunk of posters on this forum. Now, for some of those matches it was a reasonable enough statement to make, but for the majority it wasn't. Lets think about the situation we're in now: Are we really saying that if we draw tomorrow, leaving us two points outside of the relegation zone with 13 games to go, that our situation would be so dire that it would be unrealistic to think we could recover* it and stay up?
crazyleicester Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 I have no problem with the saying myself and i think tomorrow is exactly that, a must win game! I just think we need to get the winning habit and continue with it. We scored two wonder goals against Derby and the lads celebrating looked genuinely happy celebrating those goals. It reminded me a bit of last season where at times I was dumbstruck when a goal went it like Vardy at Liverpool, Mahrez at Chelsea and Man City and everyone seemed so happy, even the bloody neutrals!!!! Last season it was result after result and smiles after smiles. If we win this it means we have won two games of football on the trot for the first time since October when we beat Copenhagen and Palace at home. We also must win this game to get that monkey off our back regarding away form. I know last season we were great but the season before that we were poor. We secured 1-0 wins over Burnley, Hull and Stoke and that 3-2 win over WBA. To me, this is a must win game to start that momentum we need to get out of this shite.
ithuriel Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 Soooooooo,.........................................................................definitely,.......................................a,......................MUST WIN GAME
Nalis Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 Even if we lose tomorrow we wont be in the bottom 3. Ergo, not must win.
ZeGuy Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 The match against Swansea is a must win though.

murphy Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 It's a must win game because of the opposition, who until recently have been poor. Can you really see us beating a half decent side? It's a probably won't win game though.
adejo92 Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 Must win game. Even more so with our rivals failure to pick up points. This will be our best chance to start breaking away from them. If we don't get 3 points then we will stay amongst them. MUST WIN MUST WIN MUST WIN!
AyewJoking Posted 11 February 2017 Posted 11 February 2017 dont win and a little more pressure and one less game to go. i'd expect swansea to be well up for the game so if we somehow win, what a confidence boost that will be. im taking the pessimistic route and a likely defeat but its so close at the bottom it can all change week by week.
Monsell1976 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 They are all must win until we are mathematically safe
lcfcben76 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Think it's a must not lose rather than a must win

I'm not trying to argue that it's not a massive game and a win would be huge for us. It's just the term "Must win" is over hyping bollocks if we lose people will say hull at home is must win aka lose tommororw and there are still other so called must win games to save our season aka it is not must win just a big game. PS talking of must win am i the only person who thinks a point would be a decent result?
