lgfualol Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 If Newcastle can get 30m for players like Sissoko we should try and get more than suggested. Try to take advantage of the PL money.

From what I saw he played well enough and Matt Elliott named him as among our better players. someone else highlighted the fact that we had more chances in the first half than we'd had for ages so, no, our problems were elsewhere and I've tried to explain as much in other threads.

Even if this happens, I can foresee a mass clear out: Ranieri - sacked Schmeichel - £12m to Man City Zieler - £1m to a club in Germany Huth - £3m return to a club in Germany Fuchs - £2m move to club in the US Wasilewski - released Benny - £3m to a club in Italy King - £2.5m to Derby Mendy - £8m return to a club in France Drinkwater - £9.5m to West Brom Albrighton - £4m to Stoke Mahrez - £20m to Monaco Okazaki - £5m to a club in China (paying way over the odds!) Slimani - £30m to a club in China (paying way over the odds!) Vardy - £12m to Everton or a promoted Newcastle Ulloa - £7m to Burnley Musa - £10m to a club in Russia That's around £130m to spend on replacements. Only first teamers to remain - Simpson, Morgan, Chilwell, Ndidi, Gray, Amartey Only first team pl This isn't Football Manager, it never works like this
sylofox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Does the OP even know how the transfer system works? If we stay up the wages some of that sh1t are on we could not even give them away. What clubs are going to pay more than we are to Fuchs Huth Morgan Vardy Okazaki in fact to any of them.
stevelcfc Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 King stays, keep Ulloa for the championship. Think we will struggle to keep hold of Gray, Chilly and Wilf; probably struggle to get rid of the rest. Championship 11 something like; would be a dream. Zieler RB Amartey Benny Chilwell Gray Ndidi James Lawrence Ulloa ST
Fox92 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Players like Slimani and Musa will leave. Kasper is probably the only one that deserves a move. Struggle to keep hold of Gray and Chilwell.

MC Prussian Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I can see where the OP is coming from, but a clear-out of such a scale (basically two thirds of our first team) won't and can't happen. First of all, who's going to take them off us with the type of wages they're on? We've had the chance of a minor re-establishment last summer, but opted for giving extended contracts to Vardy (5 goals and 3 assists in 22 league games this season) and Mahrez (3 goals and 3 assists in 23 games so far). Quite the return on investment. In hindsight, it would've probably been necessary to start somewhat anew and make clearer cuts, but can you begrudge the board of directors and owners for trying to keep their most valuable assets at the club no matter what? Some of the names mentioned will have to leave, some of them will leave on their own and hand in transfer requests. Some of them will want to stay, others will be made staying.
Blanchflower78 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 The op may be a bit specific but the sentiment for me is correct. Huge fire sale will take place. People forget agents for many of these will be lining up deals now. some wont fancy another promotion assault and others simply not dropping down a division. Lets be honest, as a Lester supporter we are used to poor/average - good spells at best. Last season was a complete one-off, whilst none of us expected to fall THIS far we are now pretty much where we are used to being. Maybe we should simply embrace that, keep out your dvd, books etc - memories wont fade and get ready for needing Barnsley to get a result to push us back in the playoffs, players showing some fight and greed on a lower scale. Maybe even the odd youth prospect getting a chance and being in Millwalls shoes, drawing a Premier League team and having a bloody good go. Appreciate some will find this utterly depressing but its who we are im afraid.
Topman Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 all depends on which division we are playing in and they could even be playing for the European champions with the defence of the champions league title next season to look forward to......wishful thinking but not entirely impossible....

For example, we don't want Kasper to leave but the chances are that some of the big teams (Man City/ Liverpool, possibly Everton) may have their eye on him. Would he want to stay with us after what's happened this season? We're not going to sell one of the best keepers in the league for 12m ffs 20m for mahrez.. double it.

Argarath Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Team for the championship: Zieler New Rb - Benny - new cb - Fuchs Kapustka - King - Amartey - Gray Okazaki - New striker Rest sold

BenTheFox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I'm at a point now where I'm looking forward to next season regardless of what league we're in. Looking forward to putting this behind us and hopefully some new found optimism.
SuperStevie'sShin Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I'd go further - disband the club, sell off the land around Filbert Way to build a Brexit themed adventure park. Have the owners, players and management killed. Every City fan should undergo experimental brain surgery to erase any memory of the club ever having existed.
foxfanazer Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I can think of 4 players I'd really wanna keep Gray Chilwell Schmeichel Ndidi Other than that I honestly couldn't care less
lgfualol Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 My prediction for Championship team Zieler Simpson Amartey Benny Chilwell Albrighton James new CM New LW Barnes New ST/Ulloa I think Simpson will stay as nobody will pay him what we do. Hopefully Albrighton leaves but might be decent at championship level. James could leave for a newly promoted Prem team, or someone like Bournemouth. No chance we keep Gray, Ndidi or anyone else we want to keep. I can imagine a lot of our players going out on loan due to wage disagreements.
BenTheFox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Maybe I've been hiding away too much but I've not heard that many people say 'careful what you wish for'. The club's position can certainly be worse, but I'm not at all convinced that our performances in relation to what league we're in can get any worse.

That doesn't even look like a team capable of promotion King would probably stay as well And we'd get Jeff back on loan
Tuna Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Lots of the existing squad need to go, yes I agree with that, whether we are in the premier league or championship (likely). I think we may be able to shift out more than most of you think actually, it's the players over 30 we'll be stuck with. We'd be able to get rid of Musa, Mendy and Slimani easy enough.
