That Free Kick (WHU away)

Recommended Posts

Ive not seen much discussion about it (maybe ive missed it), but that free kick that led to Huth's goal was stunning and the most intricate set piece ive seen us play in ...years.

Just brilliant. What a goal :) (hehe and Vards after)

25 seconds in :)

Albrighton's cross with the outside of his foot was exquisite.

Been a while since one of our 'training ground' set-pieces came off for us. And it was done to perfection.

Agreed - I thought that was training ground routine.  Albrighton is playing the best he has ever done and he and Mahrez have a developed a great partnership of late.

Paul Ince on BT Sport said it was a spur of the moment thing !?!

Paul Ince is a dull ****.

Hate him. He's so basic and simple.

I think the pic there sums him up. Very, very thick.

He's got to say that... making up for his move to Utd still ;)

It's a shame when good footballers become poor pundits... Ince, Owen etc....

A brilliant free-kick which was clearly rehearsed, which could only have been topped if benalouane had come back from go knows where and scored that free-kick from the half way line! Class on both counts lol

I think they must've been working on that move in training, executed it very well.

I've noticed a few saying we look more of a threat from set pieces recently, can't say I noticed until yesterday.

Great free kick - they've clearly worked on set pieces over the extended break and come up with some nice ideas.

And let's be fair... there was also a decent free kick from the opposition yesterday.

That's why we take short corners sometimes (much to the intense anger of people who sit near me), it moves defenders out of position and creates different angles.

Hope to see more of the same. Set pieces are so under utilised by almost all teams. Get creative.

I reckon the free kick was a bit of a fluke to be honest. Watched it loads now and I think the original plan of the routine was to work it to Fuchs on the left to have a chance at crossing, but it turned out that West Ham blocked that route so he had to go to Albrighton... Unless they had planned and practiced Mark Albrighton whipping in that ridiculous ball. Seems more likely that it was meant for Fuchs, but God knows with Leicester these days lol

Anyone got a video of that Benalouane shot??

I hate people making out like they're hard done by but if that assist was from a more glamorous player than Albrighton then the pundits would still be cleaning up the studio. Absolutely stunning stuff and just shows how much confidence we're playing with. Thought the MOTD highlights and analysis weren't an accurate representation of the game
