fuchsntf Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 Should we put in a Cheekey offer for Defoe...?? I reckon a couple of middle of the table PL clubs will go for him, When Sunderland go down... He will score goals, until he retires, is he worth a punt. Could help Musa and Gray... Now hang me..
EGBFitness Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 Defoe coming off the bench for last 20 mins... yes. He will want to play every game and be a key member of the squad, something we (hopefully) wouldn't be prepared for so no thanks.
Guest the fox Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 amazing positioning and finishing but not suited to our style, i would've liked him as a plane B if he was 2-3 years younger
MPH Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 Couple of years ago, maybe... he'd be puffing like a steam train after 20 minutes playing our style... cant imagine him chasing down the lines running on to a ball sent over the top...

We make the bid, we make the terms...Promise him he will be a key member of the squad, guarrantee him x- amount of games. Beliall, thanks for the rope..even prepared..

Beliall, thanks for the rope..even prepared.. I think you misinterpreted what I meant by key member of the squad. He will want to be a starter and play majority of the games, something I don't think we should offer him. He he has got in the England squad because little options available really, I doubt he will make much of an appearance.
Guest MattP Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 Nah, not for our style. Would prefer to see us opt for younger players.
BenTheFox Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 If he wants to stay in the premier league I think he'll go back to West Ham.
adejo92 Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 If we are planning another relegation battle for next season then great, i am all for buying him....personally, however, i would be hoping to be aiming for something other than a relegation battle and therefore Defoe would not be on my shortlist. He will no doubt swap Sunderland for Brighton next season.

I have no thought either way, but I am sure, his name will be put forward for some PL clubs, even promoted clubs. He has a great talent, he scores goals, handled well then maybe 2-3 seasons, if no major injuries, and no 38+ games. It must be worth a passing thought. Neither he or his agent, will be demanding too much over the odds, even if he has a good cameo for England...

lgfualol Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 If we go down yes. But he would probably retire after 3 months of pressing with us.
NewEnglandFox Posted 20 March 2017 Posted 20 March 2017 Defoe gets to walk when Sunderland get relegated. The question is where he wants to go because he can do a job for quite a few clubs. I don't see the point of bringing him here. He's a slower, older, but more clinical version of Vardy.

There will be no shortage of premier league clubs interested in him. Besides, if we go down then we'd be more interested in reducing the wage bill, not adding another high earner to it.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 March 2017 Posted 21 March 2017 I'd offer a cheese key-ring, but that's as far as I'd go.
STUHILL Posted 21 March 2017 Posted 21 March 2017 Another top striker but again, doesn't really suit our style of play, especially with Vardy in the team. I could actually see him working really well with Ulloa, and for once think Moyes was right in that decision to try get him to join them. The old little and large combo with Ulloa winning countless flick-ons for Defoe! If Slimani did go though, as well as Ulloa, then having Defoe come on when we needed a goal, would be pretty epic, but as someone else said, he will want to start every game and can't see us dropping Vardy or them working as a pair. I imagine he will go to one of the promoted sides like Brighton etc and become their key man.
Steven Posted 21 March 2017 Posted 21 March 2017 I would prefer a cheeky bid for Lanzini as an Okazaki replacement!
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 21 March 2017 Posted 21 March 2017 Wish people would stop putting the word 'cheeky' in front of stuff.
