DANNY SIMPSON

It's always very satisfying to watch players improve their game. QPR fans I know cannot believe the error-prone shambles who was once their right back has a Premier medal to their name. But he is what he is and he does what he does.

btw i know the Ndiidi goal was technically assisted by DS but come on - really? A fairly standard, short midfield pass, turned into a goal by a piece of sublime skill..

But take nothing away from Danny Boy he does a great job for the team..

Danny is like Okazaki and Albrighton for me, as in I am constantly finding myself thinking which players we could sign for their positions to improve us. It's unfair on them and apart from our woeful spell, where every player was terrible, they have been just as good as the rest of the starting 11 and rightly deserve to keep their places. Maybe it is greed on my part, as I want Danny to be able to overlap and beat a man, Okazaki to stay on his feet and score more and Albrighton to chip in with goals too. I'm more than happy for them to keep making me question my greed though. They may not be glamorous players, but they are just as essential to our success and I suspect all 3 will be in the starting 11 come the start of the new season and rightly so.

but.... I'd still like to sign Trippier.. :D

Some of my family in London are rangers fans and did raise an eyebrow when we purchased Danny Simpson.

However, they have since agreed that some of his poor performances for them would have been because he was playing with dross around him. Put him with half decent players and he had shown his truth worth.

Whatever you you say about Danny, he knows and understands the full back position, unlike say schlupp and RDL whose positional sense is normally found wanting.

Simpson is a great team player and deserves the praise he is currently receiving.

I don't doubt you I don't know you. I was just having a laugh.

Simpson is limited in terms of ability and pure talent...but he has been coached well and his discipline in sticking to his job is his biggest asset. He seems to understand perfectly how he fits into our team/system and doesn't feel the need to try things he cant do, ie he doesn't push forward and overlap like Fuchs as he realises that his passing/crossing ability is limited, so he just lays it off, covers his position and keeps it simple, if he ever does get caught out of position he keeps it simple and either back to Kasper or out of play...no risks.

Like an earlier poster I always have right back as our first priority to strengthen, but that does Simpson a dis-service...he does all of the basics well, and never lets you down...would he get into many other Premiership starting XI's...I doubt it, but long may his current form continue.

I've held back on this for a few weeks, but think he really is showing his worth in the team. Always first on the scene when we net, two assists today, Danny will never be an out and out wing back but he is part of the system that clicks. A very solid and underrated player who has proved me wrong...anyone else?

I can't help but agree with you on this one. Tbh there was a lot of pressure on him after his off field mis demeaners, but I really have never got the negativity about him as a footballer. From what I see, he seems to have a very decent attitude and his right back shirt has rarely been challenged. A good so,I'd player who, in the main puts in a shift for us

Just read any of my posts under any other thread relevant to Simo.

Best outfield player this season. Was underrated from last season.

Great defender, couldnt give a monkey that some think incorrectly he doesnt drive forward enough.

He doesnt have to, but even last year he put in a few assists to the assist, and from the right often starts

the forward move.Though one sees his personal priority is defending, at that he is for me one of the

best in England. His backline covering is 2nd to none.Defender wise he pips fuchs imo.

Now!!   if he left, that would of pssed me off. Even with the right money and finding A RB who would sign

I cant see many around Europe that I would say, they are good enough/better  to replace him.

I have seen a couple of good young uns , but only for cover.LB is different...

I like Walker, also for England, but I prefer Danny at Leicester. Rb like walker are not rare.

Danny has better qualities as a defender, from halfway to goalline and covering backline during

individual games...Far too many negative posters on this forum, criticised just for something to say.

They looked but never saw his game. Of course he slips up occasionally, he just makes less than many,

and is solid and reliable..Again our best outfield player this season...well done lad..:scarf:

I think next season (if he starts) he will be a club legend (IMO), right now, the legends in this club are 6 (Kasper, wes, kingy, drinky, mahrez and vardy) but players like simo, huth, Fuchs, marc and few others have the chance to make it.the term club legend could be deferent from a person to another so, people my not think the same.

Sunday morning I come on FT and see a Danny Simpson thread and my first thoughts are The Sun, Mirror, People ? WTF has he done now??

As a right back he's very solid, positionally excellent. I don't care if he doesn't bomb forward as Riyadh's Idea of defense is to wave his leg at the ball.

Agreed.

I've been saying that about Albrighton for the past 2 years but I think everyone has now recognised what a player Albrighton has been for us over the past 2 years - both his historic goals in the CL have probably helped that.

So I think Simpson is the most underrated now. Him coming into our defence last season completely sured us up after the Arsenal 5-2 defeat and we or he have never looked back. He's completely won me over. One of the best full-back I can ever remember pulling on the Leicester shirt.

He did very well defensively yesterday. Not so much forward but that was to expect. Great performance yesterday night, one of the best players through the whole season.

Take a bow.

Completely agree. Defensively I reckon he is one of the most consistently good defenders in the premier league.

Going forward he doesn't always offer a lot but you know that you can always trust him at the back.

Mr consistent this season, I just wish he'd offer a bit more going forward and quality on the ball, he'd be superb if he could. An occassional overlapping full back would help Mahrez too. A lot is made of mahrez not helping Simpson but it works both ways.

He's probably only behind Kasper for player of the year for me.

Since he broke into the team he has been solid, made a couple of mistakes along the way and isnt the best going forward, but i have said this for a long time there isnt a better defesive right back in the country. If England played 4-4-2 (which they never will) he would be the first player on my team sheet.

He wears his heart on his sleeve when performing in a LCFC shirt and it's a pleasure to watch him play. Best right back we've had in a bloody long while. Top man.

He's just been on TalkSport and sounded like a broken man after last night. I thought he was going to start crying and he was completely devastated. Don't tell me professional footballers don't care...

Quite possibly one of the best defensive RB's in the top flight. I contiune to like Simpson as our RB, key to our backline.

The amount of times he pops up in the LB spot to clear a ball is incredible

As well as managing mahrez's defence work and keeping him in position

The man is a legend
