DANNY SIMPSON

It might be time for everyone who cried for a RB to replace Simpson to admit they don't know as much about the game as they think.

I've held back on this for a few weeks, but think he really is showing his worth in the team. Always first on the scene when we net, two assists today, Danny will never be an out and out wing back but he is part of the system that clicks. A very solid and underrated player who has proved me wrong...anyone else?

I've always argued for a better right back on the ball but defensively he's rock solid and right up there with anyone in the PL.

He's a square peg in a square hole for me, given how attacking Mahrez is you wouldn't want an expansive wing back there. He's a solid but limited defender. His distribution can be frustrating even when we're playing well. He's a steady performer though and he works hard.

What about those calling for an RB to provide Simpson a bit of competition and more importantly to ensure that we have a reliable alternative if for some reason Simpson isn't available for a match?

He has to defend 2 on 1 regularly. I was someone calling for a new attacking right back but I've seen over the last weeks how important and the balance he gives to the team.

If we want to continue to improve and become a stable prem club bidding for Top 10 then we need to look at improving wherever we can.

No doubt that Simpson has improved tremendously but he holds a position where we can have even more threat from.

Personally would love to see a pacy attacking right back as competition or as a swap if we want an attacking option e.g. Trippier type and we need to have as many quality options as possible.

To find the right calibre may be tough and costly although as Albrighton ages maybe he could drop deeper whilst I would agree we have more pressing needs for next season - keeper (Zieler is awful irrespective of if we can keep Schmeichel and if we can't then that will our biggest challenge, centre half, ball playing midfielder, replacement for Riyad who will leave, No.10 and a Vardy type back up).

He frustrates the hell out of me with his shit passing, but he never looks out of the place when the team clicks. His 2 assists yesterday seriously baffled me, but more of that please!

Agree with 100%, thought his time had come earlier in the season but he was my man of the match on Saturday, even saw him bombing down the wing on a couple of occasions!

Ignoring all the off field antics as a footballer I love the type of player that he is. Rarely does anything spectacular but is very consistent.

As soon as his opponent gets the ball he is there in their face harassing them trying to win the ball back.

Credit where it's due he is a good defender (without wanting to Jynx him)

its just a shame that he doesn't have the same crossing ability as Fuchs.

Might be a bad time to raise this considering his 2 assists on Saturday. :)

A fair point - may be his crossing and passing in the final third is something that he's been working on - because in fairness to the other poster Danny has not demonstrated nearly the ability on the ball that's Fuchs has time and time again but credit where it's due for his performance on Saturday.

What I love the most is how much he seems to love LCFC.  I remember when we won the league some of his tweets/instagram posts saying "I ****ing love this club", "This is my club", etc.

Since the likes of Muzzy, Elliott, etc...we haven't had much of that over the years...Momo Sylla certainly didn't give me much passion.

He knows what he needs to do in every game.  He orders Mahrez back into line when defending.  He's always talking.  Very solid member of this side.

He's improved so much since he first came .... his positional sense at the back is superb.

Seems to be one of our most underrated players and I can never understand why ?

easy to answer that ?

People on here need a scape goat and always will. Because he slapped his ex Mrs he is and alway will be a shite footballer to some.

Seems on here you can't be two things at once. He's a total twat for what he's done to his ex. But that don't stop him being perhaps our most consistent outfield player last season and this.

But some will never judge him on his football alone.

Whether or not We get another world beater of a right back in i would happily keep Danny for backup for the next few seasons.

He is Obviously good in the changing rooms regardless of his personal issues he had.

I think the reason he gets quite a bit of stick (footballing wise) is because he doesn't have any particularly outstanding qualities - he's not really fast, strong, tall or technically gifted. However, for us, he's ideal. He holds his position very well, rarely gets caught out and has never stopped throwing his body on the line for the club.

He doesn't love the club that much, it's money ultimately. My girlfriend's best friend is an emirates air hostess in Dubai.. He goes there a lot and when she was back from Dubai during the summer and she was staying at his in Manchester.

She said he was on the phone a lot with his agent regarding a new contract. The agent had told Leicester what he wanted in terms of contract but they had heard nothing from Leicester. I know for a fact his agent was speaking to West Ham.

I agree he is very solid, but we could do with some decent competition for him.

Not so long ago someone posted 4 donkeys in regards to the back 4. I can't see any donkeys.

I suppose he needs to ensure his future, whether that's with us or another Prem team.
I'd agree - he definitely needs competition.

Doubt me if you want but I am just telling the truth.

Seems the spat he had with Carragher, when he basically called him shit, has spurred him on. He always was safe in defence but seems to be going forward a bit more. Apart from his 2 assists on Saturday, he had a great run against Seville when he ran at their defence. Never seen him do that in any game before.
