TAFKA Castroneves Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Thank you Carragher for writing our team talk for Wednesday - and well done Claudio for not falling for the presenters attempts to gain a scoop for Sky - and also thank you for confirming that you decided to try and employ different systems this season - and I understand your logic for doing so, however in practicality it was NEVER going to work this season with our extra fixtures, it no doubt concerned Claudio the amount of rest days required to employ the style of football we were playing and perhaps the prospect of having to rest more with the champions league games proved too much of a risk for him personally, that's fine, that's his call - but he's ultimately responsible. Looking back to Pearson's team-building I remember pretty vividly in his first full season back with the club we generally played pretty aggro for one half and then would sit back and kinda rest for a bit, Nigel seemed to balance out what he wanted the team to do while building up their fitness levels to the point where last season (and towards the end of the season before) we could finally hit at least 80 minutes of the game pretty hard. Nigel did this over seasons, Claudio decided to try and do it all swifty during a pre-season and general season where we have had less time available than before - not to mention all the awards we've been dragged over Europe for I'm pretty devoted to the backroom staff here who got this club to the top flight - convincingly as well by the title winning season, I believe in what they've tried to do because we ended up walking the Championship and despite requiring the "Great Escape" we never looked as lost as we did this year. If we'd lost Shakespeare, Stowell etc instead of Claudio i'd have been MUCH more concerned about our future, it would have been Swansea levels of stupidity - and look how well they've done since they've pushed aside all the backroom work they put in with Martinez, Laudrup and Monk, they sacrificed that for a "quick fix" a few times (bradley etc) - and I believe Clement is the guy they've brought in to try and get back to what they had before. If you see how Southampton operate when it comes to managers - they pick a manager to fit what they are setup to play - and if it wasn't for that i'm sure with all their transfer issues they would have gone down by now, constantly losing players to Liverpool. Let's be honest here, Claudio was not a pick to fit our system - even though he agreed to work with our staff. But once again thank you Claudio for last year, of course i like others are very sad it didn't work out for you - but I believe as a fan the path you were offering wasn't right for the club at this time.
K1FOX Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 From what I watched of that tonight I didn't hear Claudio even once accept any blame whatsoever for this season or even accept he made a couple of mistakes. Instead he just kept on talking about 'his' system and 'his' players and the team 'he' built. Very strange and today I saw a level of arrogance from Claudio that I didn't think existed in him. Thank you for managing us last season Claudio but you really need to stop playing this victim card and acting as if you were wrongfully dismissed.

Was it Mrs Ruskin or Mrs Pearson ?
yorkie1999 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Well one things for certain, sky didn't have Claudio on for his tactical genius in analysing the arsenal game, he sounded fvckin clueless to me.

Thank you for managing us last season Claudio but you really need to stop playing this victim card and acting as if you were wrongfully dismissed. That's the thing, the CR lovers (those LCFC fans and everyone else) want him to carry all the glory for last season, but it's teflon time for everything that was wrong this season. Not him, but it must be the players, the snakes, the other staff.....et al? I just can't get my head around those that wanted him in the job still, even if we'd got relegated. Other fans of other clubs, yes whatever, but Leicester fans actually feeling he was bigger than our club? Crazy.. He hasn't shown any humility or self criticism about anything he did wrong or could have changed or not changed. It was just bad luck/confidence....eventually leading to the players, oops sorry now it's the other(s) getting him the sack. Anyone remember Pearson going on TV within just a few weeks of getting the sack bleeting of injustices? No, the bloke waited months and months until away at Man City before he spoke about it and even then didn't come across as bitter and certainly didn't milk the teams unfolding successes. Pearson isn't everyone's cup of tea and I get all the reasons why, but that day he calmly circumvented the subject of his sacking (either way he had a chance to say something) and praised the players and staff instead. I really wish CR had gracefully waited longer to have his say. Barely 6 weeks and just 48 hours before CL game shows last night was all about him again and does him no favours imo. They often say silence speaks a thousand words, but not for Claudio. He wants the "sorry for him bandwagon" to roll on longer....
Lovejoy Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 So basically the long and short of Ranieri's moment on tv is that he still wouldn't acknowledge he did anything wrong this year and was taking us down. Decision to fire him doubly vindicated then.
sk3since03 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Claudio who? No in all seriousness i love the man, it's hard not to ! Sacking has been truly justified though! It also has me wondering if Shakey was the one pulling the strings last season and the owners realised this

The more I think about it, I feel Claudio was a figurehead who did all the media stuff, while Shakey (and coaching team) did all the footballing 'legwork' - analysis, tactics etc - perhaps even team selection. I also agree with you Lovejoy, he still won't admit he was at fault for this season.

yorkie1999 Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 I missed the start, but did they mention Pearson's involvement in building a team and an infrastructure that Claudio took over from, and also did he feel any gratitude towards Thai prostitution. and what his thoughts were on the positivities of rimming.

Mike Oxlong Posted 11 April 2017 Posted 11 April 2017 Carragher must've had to put his tissue box away when CR said the players didn't stitch him up.
