I'm sure this would've been mentioned already, but can we have a moment of appreciation for Schlupp's Schlupp moment to set up their firstlol

But because of the goal difference it does mean Swansea have to get ten points out of a possible 15 to catch us. And that's if we lose all of our last six.

WHOOSH. I know buddy, cheers Geoff.

If that was Amartey defending like that for Cabayes goal not Ndidi he'd be getting absolutely roasted.

Ndidi shouldve snapped Schlupp, or cleared the ball properly at least. Ah well

I think the reason he isn't getting roasted is because that's probably the first costly mistake he's made. People can accept an exception to performance imo.

Great away day. Very entertaining game- I'm not particularly frustrated that we squandered a 2 goal lead, I always thought we would tire towards the end but we seemed to get stronger- bodes well for Wednesday.

With other results going in our favour, we're pretty much safe. Bring on Atletico!!

Yeah, just stating the obvious really. Have to say I've been impressed by his range of passing lately, can be really classy on the ball fairplay to him.

He was also responsible for Clucas's goal for Hull with a suicidal crossfield pass. He's still so young with so much to learn but definitely not time to get on his back.

Disappointing to have conceded a 2-0 advantage, but let's face it CP would have been really unlucky to have lost. Huth standout - we will miss him! Do we have enough players left for AM?

Reasonable result given the circumstances but we were tactically very poor yesterday and Shakespeare was out manoeuvred by Big Sam in the second half.

As soon as our second went in we should have immediately switched personnel and introduced Amartey and Chilwell for Mahrez and Ulloa to enable us to shut up shop by reverting to a 451 and doubling up at full back with Albrighton covering Simpson and Chilwell covering Fuchs.

Unfortunately for us Sam's been around the game long enough to be able to spot a weakness, exploit it, and also play to his own teams strengths.

Their tactical change at half time to target and overload our right side putting Townsend up against Simpson, whilst supporting him with Benteke, Cabaye and the overlapping left back Schlupp later followed by the fresh legs of Van Aarnholt, was a great move particularly as Mahrez wasn't tracking back. The fact that Mahrez also wasn't offering any threat going forward gave their left back the freedom to push on as weren't able to pin him back and exploit the space left behind. Sam also recognised that by keeping Zaha on the right, Palace would be able to stretch the play as we'd have no choice but to keep a close eye on their in form winger and this gave Cabaye a little more space to operate through the middle as King and N'Didi were being pulled out wide to try and give support to Simpson and Fuchs.

The injury to Benalouane is a worry particularly with Tuesday's game on the horizon, and I hope the Palace game hasn't taken too much out of the player's both physically and mentally as there were a few out on the pitch at the full time whistle yesterday who looked completely exhausted.

Anyway irrespective of the performance and taking into consideration results elsewhere the result takes us yet another step closer to ensuring Premier League football returns to Leicester next season, which given the situation a couple of months back is an achievement in itself.

Let's hope that we can give it another big push on Tuesday and continue the fairytale.

Are you free Tuesday evening and can you play CB?

Very insightful post, but regardless of formation, basic defending was terribly at fault for the first goal, an the 2nd where watching it again if Ndidi tells Simpson he has cover an to go to ball he or Ndidi stops the cross, I believe we would of gone 4-5-1 a little later, but to do it at 53 mins is inviting even more pressure on.

Yes, it's amazing how little has been said. One of the softest goals we've conceded in recent memory and N'didi was woeful. King would have been slaughtered. Agree with ian marshall about Mahrez too. He's so frustrating. There's almost always a moment of magic such as his goal-feed to Vardy but he's a real liability at times too.

Really surprised we didn't get a peep, from the commentators when Benteke climbed all over Benny for their second.

Niall Quinn on game of the day analysed it several times. Basically he said it's a fee kick if you're a defender and a goal if a striker. No complaints if dean had given a free kick but as a former CF, he was pleased it stood.

Fair enough if it stands but if we are in this kind of a game where challenges like that are ok Ulloa should not have been whistled every 5 mins when challenging.

Really enjoyed yesterday. Just a good away day. Selhurst Park is always a mission but it's a brilliant old ground.

Thought when we went 2 up we'd see the game out/maybe get a third. But conceding so early after scoring was a big problem. From that point on our defence looked all over the place.

They looked really tired though and in the end a point was fair enough. I'd have taken a point prior to the game.

I think a point is a good result given the circumstances.

And more than I thought we'd get. However, we did play a stronger side than I thought we would.

To be fair, you can't hold them to the same standards. Vardy and mahrez are allowed to have few "quiet" games and most will brush it aside because of what they did, gray and slimani on the other hand, not so much.

I think n'didi did more than enough to deserve a little bigger "margin of error", plus, no one can challenge him for his spot in this squad.

I agree about the defending, there were some real school boy errors in the build up to both goals. I take your point regarding formation but as soon as we got the second we needed to kill the game. At 2-0 the next goal is crucial so it was important that we prevented a quick response by Palace. Sadly that wasn't the case and handed them the initiative both on and off the pitch.

Initially seeing the line up, we played a much stronger squad than expected.

Overall happy with a point away from home, and Palace are playing with a bit of confidence at the minute on a relatively decent run.

Just leaves a small sour taste as with going 2 goals up we should have seen the game out, as both there goals could have been avoided.

I did feel that as much as we are not a possession based team, we really were extremely poor at times when in control of the ball, as we sat so deep at times.

Numerous misplaced passes to nowhere or the defence needlessly putting the ball into touch.

One things for sure, we need a few quality additions in the summer in certain areas, that also may give a kick in the ass of certain members of the squad that may be getting complacent.
