Dunno, maybe the facts.

Well the whole Corbyn is a terrorist sympathiser debate has been dismissed as a smear by many and yet it's based on things in the public record. Claiming it's incorrect doesn't mean it's so.

Very simply put the older you are the more elections you've lived through, the more Governments you've had to endure and you base your decisions, in the main, around your own experiences.

A youthful vote is not tarnished with the realities of times gone by.  The older you are the greater wisdom people tend to have for such matters, certainly with a case of reflection.

I suspect this is why those say, 40+ are much more likely to be cautious with who they choose to vote for, than say as 18-22 year old.

Hmmm...you could make the converse argument that older people are just as self-interested as anyone else, and will therefore vote for policies that guarantee their own short-term gain. Why vote for policies that won't really take effect until after you've gone, after all?

They also understand the power of voting better than most as they remember having to fight for it, so turnout is higher.

I'm sure a lot of older folks at least think they have the better interest of the country in mind when they vote, but I will never buy the idea that all or even most of them are altruistic.

As Webbo said, facts and data sometimes aren't enough.

Take a look at the election over here last year, for instance.

Who decides what is factually incorrect though?

So much of the argument on here is, "I don't want to believe that, therefore it's a lie".

Like the oodles of climate change data?

If you've allowed your vote to be swayed by something you've read on Facebook, or you are one of these people that think they can sway other people's votes by posting one sided nonsense on there, you are quiet frankly, an idiot

(I'm not calling you an idiot)

I'm sure there are some people's views that are swayed by what they read on facebook but I doubt they're the sort of people that vote.

Skepticism is healthy - except when it has no logical basis, viz. questioning those who have absolutely no good reason to lie.

That's true, but they certainly did over here last year.

Well, Facebook, Twitter and 4chan, I guess.

It was quite depressing, but totally unsurprising watching EMT yesterday. They went round Notts/Derby/Leicester asking people questions about the election. 3 people couldn't tell you who the prime minister was, some couldn't identify the leaders of the Labour/Liberal party from their  pictures.

I'd laugh but that's terrifying.

I watched a similar video online where the BBC went round telling people party policies without revealing the party and the person they were asking had to guess which party said which... they hardly got any right.

Think I'll take a break from the forum once the result is out, always horrendous with people either chatting complete sh*t or catastrophising. End of the day we are getting another 2 years of the Tories but they've made more than a few **** ups so there's something to smile about whatever your political inclination. (and something to be miserable about)

Can any Tories confirm this email, or is it fake news?

ive heard naff all from the lib dems today. ive been averaging 7 emails a day from them too.

i thought you weren't allowed to campaign on polling day or is it you cant cover it much on tv/radio as its broadcast law?

I'm all for Labour to win today, despite previous reservations, but it is quite funny looking into the very left echo chamber. Talk of people shaking, excited. One person claimed to have cried three times already today because of the hope. Hope that today might be the day.

Yet was it here I read it'd take a 12 point Labour lead in the polls to produce a majority of 1 for them in the Commons?

I subscribe to the theory in the other thread about Silent Tories. Demonise people enough and they'll go quiet to do their voting where it matters, just like last year's ref.

Easy Con majority.

Imagine it's the kind of thing all parties send out on polling day? Be nice if it did mean they were bricking it, but think he's putting two and two together and making five.

Hoping for a high turnout though.

Do you reckon Tories actually are demonised? Feels like there's a lot less of that going on this election and it's mostly Labour supporters being positive with a few Tory tribalists circulating smears.

Also there were no end of loud brexiteers last year.
