I'm sure the owners of those titles will be happy with the increased sale though. That's it revenue will be through the roof, and they'll keep stocking more and more . Possibly the dumbest protest I've ever heard of.

How fvcking arrogant of these idiots to assume that because they think they know best then nobody should be allowed to read the stuff and make their own adult decision. Although what is kinda funny, is that they don't see by doing such things is one of the reasons they never get the result they are desperate for and are so narrow minded they really cant see it. Typical of the left really, wasting money because they can. Do something useful with it like give it to a homeless guy or charity. Sad thing is, they'll be burning effigies of May come Saturday.

Almost looking forward to staying up until 3am just to see their reactions over social media when yet again they have not got the result, at the same time as being about £50 out of pocket and not 1 newspaper to show for it
David Guiza Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Incredible really; depending on whom you listen to we on the left are either dogooders who daren't question a terrorist through fear of being insulting or radicallist anti-semites who will stop at nothing to bring down the beautiful right. It's damn hard work keeping up this juxtaposition. Then again I suppose if you're right/centre right you're considered to be a poor/disabled/human hating cyborg. Swings and roundabouts.

The left trying their best to bring Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 to fruition.
Livid Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Just like the Brexit vote I find my Facebook timeline full of people who I've always viewed as reasonable and unbiased sharing all kinds of guff/fake news/twisted stats/lies in favour of one party or the other. I find the whole day very depressing and I can't wait until it's over.

This It is really depressing how desperate we are to justify our votes by slandering the opposing party to the extreme. I am bored of reading how Labour will let all of terrorists in or how Tories will privatise whole of NHS. Only yesterday, my partner's brother came home from work and said someone at his work is voting for Tories because Labour wanted to reverse Brexit FFS.

Fcuking hell a visionary, someone who professes to know Labours stance on Brexit negotiations.

I do believe they call that Schrodingers Leftie. Much like Schrodingers Immigrant and Schrodingers Benefit Claimant. It'd be funny if so many people didn't use it as an actual argument and then vote on the basis of it.
Rincewind Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 I've been called a Muslim because I have said not all Muslims are terrorists. Then they say they are not racist. I posted no you are not racist because Islam is not a race and Muslims to not belong to one single race. One of them posted Those with closed minds have the biggest mouths. I thought how perceptive of them even if a little ironic without realising it. Another is 'The chinese have been here for years and you don't see them protesting saying they want to kill us' True but there also are no wars rampaging through China, extremists bombing the shit out of the citizens or other countries invading them. Basically they have no 'excuses' to turn to for protesting against us.
leicsmac Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Also, an interesting article from The Economist today talking about what it perceives to be the biggest divide in voting patterns: age. http://www.economist.com/blogs/speakerscorner/2017/06/youth-booth?fsrc=scn/fb/te/bl/ed/theyouthatthebooth Think that does make a certain amount of sense.

The problem which people find it hard to accept is that people come from different backgrounds, some have completely different life experiences, intelligence levels, personality traits etc. That's why we all have differences of opinions. I think social media is utterly dreadful during elections but then again, without it, I'd probably be more inclined to vote tory given the bias in the mainstream media.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 8 June 2017 Posted 8 June 2017 Not directed at anyone in this thread, but an observation after listening to people I've spoken to, I wish people would vote based on their own opinions after doing the right amount of research. I know too many who haven't read any manifestos, but have instead based their opinions on the most uninformitive sources ever, such as unverified factually incorrect shared news on Facebook and other social media. I also don't like the animosity from all sides of the political spectrum towards people who vote for other parties, people fall out over politics far too often, and at the end of the day, bar a select few, we all vote for the party who we think will run this country best.

The old are stupid and the young are stupider.

Very simply put the older you are the more elections you've lived through, the more Governments you've had to endure and you base your decisions, in the main, around your own experiences. A youthful vote is not tarnished with the realities of times gone by. The older you are the greater wisdom people tend to have for such matters, certainly with a case of reflection. I suspect this is why those say, 40+ are much more likely to be cautious with who they choose to vote for, than say as 18-22 year old.

Individualism leads to all of this, which is why there are so few matters on which everyone actually agrees. Hell, if NASA put out the news that a catastrophic asteroid impact event was happening within two weeks, likely somewhere between a third and a half of folks simply wouldn't believe it and a proportion of the rest would be ticking the "Great Big Meteor" box down at the local polling station. It's interesting you mention social media in that context - over here in the US the positions were inverted. 5 minutes ago, TheUltimateWinner said: Not directed at anyone in this thread, but an observation after listening to people I've spoken to, I wish people would vote based on their own opinions after doing the right amount of research. Well, that's the benefit and the drawback of universal suffrage: 50% of people are below average intelligence, and quite a few across the intelligence spectrum are very easily led by a narrative. But there isn't a better system yet, so...

So much of the argument on here is, "I don't want to believe that, therefore it's a lie".
