Alexis Sanchez for Most Despised Footballer of the Year Award! Bayern are apparently interested in him - I wouldn't miss him one bit, at least not him scoring against us.
MPH Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 So we gave up the lion's share of possession against Arsenal. Away. At their ground. They only scored from a badly deflected own goal. To me that's something you can get positives out of. Im looking forward to next season!

The lack of tempo shocked me, and we should have ran hard and pushed them further after having 8 days off, 6 of their outfield players played 120 minutes on Sunday. We never really extended them, and if we did they looked rocky. Nobody wanted the ball, it t was like a hot potato and the pass went backwards in most instances. Paid far too much respect and we got what we deserved, zero. Yes you have to repect Arsensal, but to play entirely into their hands was suicidal. Honeymoon period over I believe it was before Shakey first game he said this group of players need to play on the front foot and play their own game. What happened to that last night? I hope it's not a case of what you see when a coach realises he now has something to lose i.e. the manager's job. Starts over thinking and starts to worry about what HE can lose. Just go into every game to WIN it from the get go and stop ****ing about. The rest will take care of itself ffs.
brucey Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 Well Shakey has repeatedly stated he will be reflecting on his own performance as a manager at the end of the season. Which is a good sign. Would be too much of a risk to replace him in the summer IMO, as in the players eyes he's done enough to deserve a go next season. Not saying they are necessarily right (they might be), but without Europe we need to do everything possible to appease the players we need to keep, at least for next season.
Almo-Fox Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 Gutted with result and very iffucult to swalow You can see it all at drinkwater words to answer those questions he said is hard to swallow that defeat and you can see DD face who was frustrated with the gem and think also with poor quality players who stop leceister ct from growing to a normal team as all th 19 teams evn the relegated ones Hope nxt Mach on saturdy against WBA we will see gray and my preferred player Ben Chilwell and Leicester get the right answer
Callabinho Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 One thing that really stands out is we're desperate, absolutely desperate for a number 10...a proper play maker...Ulloa didn't do much wrong, but unfortunately he's not up to it at this level, without Okazaki there is absolutely no link between midfield and attack....the only thing that lets Shinji down is his goals return...other than that, he simply has to start.
Ric Flair Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 Gray should have come on with 20-30 mins to go as we had very little outlet in the 2nd half. Slightly improved when Shinji came on and we sure miss his pressing when he doesn't play. He's got to start on Saturday and we need to be relentless from the off. West Brom are horrible and we need to get in to them early.
Chico1958 Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 I was sat in a bar come Indian in West Brom, checked my phone 0-0 after 80 minutes Thought, bloody hell we're going to get a point, 7 minutes later looked up and my mates faces said it all Checked my phone and yes it was true............ they bloody did it again. Felt sick as a dog, had two more beers and went to bed....... It was like Madrid all over again Gutted
smr Posted 27 April 2017 Posted 27 April 2017 Cracking atmosphere in our end. That place really is a library tho. Shame we couldnt get a point. Dont think we deseved to lose. Fuchs.. brilliant... sanchez.. fackin woofter. Hilarious that was. You could see the venom from fuchsys throw.

It was embarrassing,I have never heard anything like it( or not heard)Then them singing for 5 mins when they scored made it more cringeworthy. Some say we are plastic with clappers but that was weird.

He causes chaos, which ties up defenders/midfielders and allows others a bit of freedom to create. I see exactly what he brings. However, is it something that can be replaced relatively easily? Of course. Stick Iain Hume in there. Paul Dickov maybe. As a footballer, he needs to bring a little bit more to the party. A decent touch maybe? Hold up play? An ability to score a goal or two. While watching yesterday, when we did attack. Subconsciously, my first thought was don't pass it to Shinji. I would love to see the stats of break or our play. Turnover of the ball, when Shinji has it. Iain Hume???? What an insult. 14 hours ago, Koke said: Even as an attacking midfielder his assist return is abysmal. Has Shinji ever had an assist for us? Genuinely cannot remember. I'm sorry but a CAM needs to contribute more than "hard work". Okazaki doesn't even get into positions to assist or score. No assists for us. Total of 5 in 212 games, none of those whilst playing for Japan and scoring 50 goals. Can't me many other midfield/forward players with worth assist figures than that.
st albans fox Posted 28 April 2017 Posted 28 April 2017 On the plus side, having conceded seven goals to Arsenal players the season we won the league, this campaign we didn't concede to any!

His lack of goals is certainly not the 'only thing' letting Shinji down, but he's still part of the most potent constellation we can muster.

Gray is not up to it and never will be a Mahrez replacement He has absolute shite like Drinkwater playing next to him who can only pass backwards He has mupped Ulloa ahead of him who puts absolutely fk all effort in tracking back Fk this if I were him looking at some of the pathetic comments on here i'd be off to somewhere I'd be appreciated Explain away please Mahrez has 2 goals from open play (one was the cross at West Ham) and three assists in the PL. Gray has 1 and 3 from 40% of the minutes played by Mahrez. If only I had information on losing the ball from passes and dribbles - that would be off the charts Riyad I would expect. Face the facts he not produced the goods all season.

That seems a bit random. I could argue that Gray's one league goal was a meaningless consolation, albeit a well taken one. To me, it was pretty obvious that if we were going to do anything in an attacking sense against Arsenal, it was going to come from Mahrez.

I would have thought it was pretty obvious and not random to exclude the 3 penalties from his goal tally. They don't reflect performance. If Musa had scored those three penalties I would not now think he'd played well all season instead of being appalling. We obviously have differing opinions on Riyad's performances this season.

I think it's fair to say that he hasn't lived up to expectations. But since the CR sacking, I think he has improved although not as dramatically as others. I don't think Gray has proven he's a reliable alternative to Mahrez, mainly because I feel the team needs the type of qualities that only Mahrez possesses.

Face the facts he not produced the goods all season. Whilst Mahrez has not been performing at the same level as last season in terms of goals and assists tally, he is still very clearly a level above his team mates and offers so much more than people give him credit for. You have to compare apples with apples.. every single player was performing at a high level last season. You can’t expect Mahrez to have similar stats when the team as a whole are below average, it just doesn’t work like that. Mahrez had one of if not the only shot on target against Arsenal with that half volley in the first half and had that have gone in we’d have been singing his praises. Until the team starting performing better, namely a more robust CM, Mahrez’s stats are not going to change anytime soon. It frustrates me when people single him out because I honestly don’t think it’s justified… he still creates, he still has a magic first touch that hardly ever lets him down, he’s still able to win countless free kicks in nothing situations on the receipt of a bad bass from Drinkwater et al, he’s chasing back and defending more than he did last season, he still looks dangerous on the ball and still has that proven ability to create something from nothing or convert that half chance into a goal. Gray is a massive talent but he is not a Mahrez replacement, they’re different players that have different qualities. The drop a world class player who is playing no worse than the rest of the team is a joke.
Eskay Posted 28 April 2017 Posted 28 April 2017 Still a bit cheesed off about this result. We had such a good opportunity to finally get a result against these. People travelled so far on a weeknight to be there and we didn't play with any sort of intensity. Within the first 10 minutes I knew it was the same old Arsenal from the start of the season. The fans couldn't be bothered and their attack was toothless. I thought the back 4 were impressive with Fuchs being the stand out. But ultimately the ball just kept coming back. The front line didn't hold onto it for longer than about a minute or 40 seconds and the defenders got no rest at all. They did really well to hold out as long as they did IMO! I'm waiting until this weekends game to decide on how I want the summer to go in terms of recruitment and managers etc. I'm not willing to accept that we will be pants away from the KP from now until we inevitably go down eventually - it's not a sustainable way to play football in this league.
