I was being Sarcastic

But for the record  I hope he clears off

because he isn't a positive influence on the squad

Last seasons performances is all I need to go by. A world class player when he tries that is for sure, but last season was a disgrace I'm sorry it just wasn't good enough. We expected him to leave but do it professionally perform for the club paying you to do so until you get your move.

Without a doubt there were times when his attitude looked off - i'm not going to debate that - but the same could be said for a lot of the players. Albrighton couldn't pass the ball to another player for 3 months is just 1 example.

What i also saw alot of, was riyad trying to do too much which is just as infuriating. Just because he didn't play well, doesn't mean he didn't want to be here. Form can come and go and everyone struggled for me last year, (with the exceptions of kasper and simpson) so does that mean we need to sack off the rest of the squad?

The talk of a "Gentleman's agreement" about the owners supposedly just asking for one more season is complete bollocks.

If he wanted one then he should have gotten his agent to ask for a release clause in the pay-rise contract he happily signed last year.

He's a Leicester player and he's paid handsomely, it's a world cup year too. It's not like he can afford to sulk.

Until the fee is paid, he will remain a Leicester player and I'm sure we'll enjoy the Mahrez we all know and love. I'll be gutted if we sell him but downright angry if we let him go for less than the 50m we've set.

The point being that the levels of the other players raised from that Liverpool game. Riyads didn't.

I don't think it was purely that he just didn't try. I think his body language gives off that impression which doesn't help him. For whatever reasons he had a poor season and that has put off the top clubs from wanting him. It's up to him to rebuild his reputation

That's a statement prepared by his agent mate.

But I agree with the sentiment- if we keep him, hopefully the lack of interest wakes him up and we get something close to the 2015/16 Mahrez back.

He has to sign it off. It doesn't go out without his eyes looking at it. He's a footballer, not an academic. The statement echoes his sentiments.

I agree with the last bit 100% - Just think the hate in here to one of our greatest ever players (even if it was just for 1 season) is completely wrong and unjustified. People read between the lines and believes what suits them.

I have no problems with people doing that, i just want them to keep their stupidity to themselves. At the end of the day, it will be down to Shakey to decide whats best based on what he says and him actually knowing Riyad better than any of us - so in Shakey we trust!

Awkward.

Another way of looking at this is that he has reported for training a day earlier than he needs to.....

.... Just saying.

if he had been playing local football, and he was been pushed of the ball that easy he would have dragged off the field. he just showed what a spoiled brat he is. the sooner he leaves the better.

I don't think any of it is hate. Occasionally it gets a bit carried away on here but I think it's mainly in jest.

Nobody can dispute the impact he had on our title win

Definitely. Doesn't mean they're his sentiments though- it will have been prepared by his agent to try and keep relations with the club and fans positive as he plots his way out.

Can we just put some things into context re: Riyad as i'm fed up of reading complete shit spouted over and over by our fans - the hate is ridiculous!

Firstly the Statement he released, We all knew he would look to leave this summer, so the statement wasn't a surprise. I actually give him credit for his honesty that he would like to move on as it shows he has respect for the club and the fans. He also did it early on to give the club plenty of time to find a suitable buyer and replacement. He is looking a little silly now, as nobody wants to pay the money for him but people on here saying he's desperate to leave, hates it here etc - read the statement again:

"Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester City Football Club I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on," the 26-year-old said in a statement.

"I had a good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.

"However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.

I've always enjoyed a good relationship with the chairman and everyone at the club, and I hope I have been able to repay the faith shown to me by my performances and commitment on the pitch during my time here.

I've had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment. I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League champions.

The relationship I share with the club and our amazing fans is something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision."

I read that and i don't get the impression of a mardy player whos ruining the dressing room spirit. Behind the scenes im sure the boys will be winding him up, but I see no reason why he won't come back and hit the ground running whatever happens with the transfer.

He's always come across as sulky and yes he didn't have a great season last year, but thats no different to most of the team. As long as he is a Leicester player, I will support him because we know what he is capable of.

Personally, i hope he stays, has another great season and gets his dream move to Barcelona next summer.

Any player that thinks he's too good for us when it was us who picked him up and gave him the stage gets no respect from me.  And it was really big of you to give us another year to help this poor little club out  seeing as how you were so far superior to the rest of the players  ( except you weren't and had a p*ss poor season ) Yes Riyad we understand your decision now fvck off . ( oh whats that no one wants you ? )

If anything that clip makes me like Riyad even more.

Love our sulky Algerian genius!

Listen, if Arsenal don't pay up, he will stay and Shakespeare and Appleton WILL get his head right. If he wants a move he will have to play well in the new season.

His teammates WILL get along with him because he's done nothing wrong from their perspective. If a colleague seeks a higher paid and more prestigious job you don't fall out with them do you?

I wouldn't be suprised to see him start against Arsenal and shredding them, having been motivated by Shakey and Appleton to show them what they missed out on.

All he's done is said he wants to leave, he's not tried to force a move and hasn't sulked and refused to come back. Give the man some respect, he's more than earnt in.

Getting rather tiredsome now.

It's seem now he feels guilty in saying he wishes to go publically and should've really said nothing to third parties and tried to get another deal in 'closed doors'.

He's about 10 stone wet through, not a physical player, and he was constantly left trying to take about 3 players on on his own for 3 quarters of last season. Bloke scored 17 in a year we won the title, stayed another year when Kante didn't, and his strengths were absolutely not played to last season. Spoiled brat lol amount of ungrateful, deluded, entitled shits supporting us these days is baffling.

For the record, I also think it's probably better for us that he moves on as soon as possible. I choose not be an arsehole about it tho

He didn't last season, for some reason, though.

Has he?

An article I read last night said he was to report back to training today, of course the article could be wrong but that's all I can go off, where have you seen/what makes you think he's a day early?

Shakey said all 'International Players' report back Monday.

I know Fuchs is still in USA and N'didi/Musa are still in Nigeria so just going off that really

u forgot to mention the year before when he was still 10 stone, he was rarely push of the ball. the reason he had 3 defenders on him last year because he refuse to take them on on until they had got back in numbers.

The future of Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez is still uncertain, with the Algeria international poised to return to training on Friday.
....

Mahrez has already handed in a transfer request but is expected to attend training on Friday with his future hanging in the balance.

That's not what has been alluded to in some reports within this thread. It has been said that there was some resentment towards him in the dressing room last season.

Few ITK's saying players have already fallen out with him over this...
