surrifox Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 And since a lot of the arse fans are desperate to sign him and want to know what their massively overpriced season ticket proceeds are being spent on - Wenger is starting yet another season in a toxic atmosphere
desertfox2 Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Wouldn't put it past Wenger to bid 35/36.99m a few days before we play them. Knowing full well we will reject and hoping to get Mahrez to throw a strop. No way will they pay 50m and they won't sign Lemar either. They might panic right at the end of the window and offer the 40m they were rejected for Lemar. If it's true they have agreed terms with Lemar but not the fee with Monaco how are they not getting done for tapping up? Hope Mahrez agent is advising him that he needs to work his socks off for anyone to show us the money... Oh and a hat trick against Arsenal would probably do it.
UPinCarolina Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 I don't want him here at the season's start if he's not staying until at least January. Recipe for disaster.

Albert Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Truly laughable the stick Riyads getting! People accusing him of a bad attitude because of a 20sec video and writing him off as a one season wonder as he didn't hit the heights of the previous yr and we should cash in for £35m?!?! £35 MILLION IN TODAYS MARKET?!?! ARE YOU MAD?!?! Interested clubs aren't buying potential here. They're trying to buy a player that's done it and has the medals to prove it!! Pls look at other transfers and calibre of players going for similar prices and you'll realise that they're not even in Riyads league and that the club is 100% right at setting his value at £50m!! Andy Carrol went for £35m and that was 6yrs ago!! Arsenal are clearly interested but they're doing their usual tricks of trying to get players on the cheap! Switch the tables for a sec and imagine that he was an Arsenal player. U think they'd be wanting £35m for him or would they be asking for £50m+?!? Its pretty simple, if a club isn't willing to pay what he's worth then he won't be going anywhere. The owners aren't mugs and they won't be bullied by anyone, especially as he's got 3yrs left on his contract! Before anyone suggests he'll be a bad apple etc pls have a think whether the rest of the boys, the senior players and management would stand for anything like that!!
Wymsey Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Hope Monaco positively respond to Arsenal's offer for their own winger, so the possibility of Arsenal making a bid for Mahrez never happens. http://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/transfer-news/thomas-lemar-arsenal-transfers-monaco-13296110
Tuna Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Riyad Mahrez will be dropped if he downs tools to force move from Leicester, insists Craig Shakespeare ‘With him coming out, we know where it stands but ultimately he's contracted to the football club,’ Shakespeare said. ‘We have to be professional with him but more importantly he has to be committed and I think he has to show supporters, staff and players that. ‘If he's selected he has to perform and if he doesn't show commitment he won't play. He's got a contract with us so he has to understand that. 'We haven't had any bids and if we don't have one, we've got no decision to make. I'm open-minded. It can be disappointing when players go public with it but sometimes in the modern game outside influences are behind that. ‘I will have a one-to-one. When I sit down with him I'll get an idea of where he's at. I know what Riyad is about, I know he’s ambitious and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with any player having ambition. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4676038/Shakespeare-Mahrez-dropped-downs-tools.html#ixzz4mBnVK7GB

Well said but you'll also have people telling you on here that Riyad is getting all the stick he deserves! It's simple, we would not have won the league without him (not saying he won us the league, just that he was massively influential - yes so was Kante, Vardy, Wes/Huth, Kasper etc but there was a reason he was player of the season). If people don't pay up then we keep him and he can prove to all he is worth the hype and be a 50m player by doing it again. If Barca, Bayern or PSG come and get him then fair play, he's earned it and I will thank him for contributing to another amazing season. If we don't get the money, then we keep and he plays for us. I for one will always be grateful and sing his name whenever he wears the shirt!

Showing some serious maturity and sounding like someone whose been doing this for years! Shakey's just saying the obvious which everyone of us would be saying in his position. Like I've said previously, we've got a very strong dressing room and players/management/staff wouldn't stand for anyone that would try and play up or rock the boat. They'd be put inline very quickly. Regardless of all that and pls trust me on this, Riyad isn't the sort of lad to behave and act like that despite what some of our skysports news fans think. The lad has been honest to come out and tell us that he thinks it's time to move on and if u take the emotion out of the situation do u really blame him? After everything he's done for us I personally believe he doesn't owe us anything and I'd wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career IF the right deal is there for us. If a deal doesn't materialise I for one would be ecstatic and would be drooling over the thought of him, Vards and Iheanacho as a front line.
KFS Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 That Thomas Lemar looks quality. Hope they sign Riyad over him purely with my eyes on the opening game!

The Andy Carroll transfer fee was such a massive outlier, such a shockingly ill thought out over-valuation, that it can't really be used as a baseline for other transfers. I wholeheartedly agree with the remainder of your post, though.
dpjfox Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 Get Appleton to have a "quiet word" im sure we will get offers before the deadline
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 Monaco valuing Lemar at £80 million and Arsenal bidding £40 million ? Got a feeling that there is a slim chance that Arsenal might not get him.
EnglishOxide Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 That's what I wanna hear from Shakey. None of this 'he can leave if he wants' shit. He can leave if we get the right bid for him. Until then, he's a Leicester player and he will put in 100% if he wants to start the opening game of the season or risk his career go downhill.
ronnup Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 Looks like we're sticking to our 50 million valuation, which will put plenty of people off. Arsenal love a late panic buy, especially if Sanchez goes, and Monaco will be more reluctant than us after being stripped partly already. It's clear there's only one team interested, and we can play the long game and exploit it.
katieakita Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 It is a different world that these Footballers move in compared to us mere mortals. Have not got a problem with what he came out with these footballers do move in different circles to the rest of us. A very simple thought process for me, if he does want to go and someone comes in for him at a price we are happy with let him go. If he does stay though great as long as we get the committed Riyad not the sadly out of form, one we had for much of last season. Also believe he had family issues that must have had an effect and you must take into account agents. Those fvckers have very much vested interests in a players career. They will always come out with the "we ae looking after our clients bollox" you represent a player who got the contract Riyad got last year and your cut sets you up for life, you secure him a big move this summer and your cut is a life changing lottery win amount. Would be very shocked if the agent was not constantly reminding Riyad who much he used to earn when at Le Havre and his first contract at Leicester and now how well the agent has done for him in securing his families financial future and also would think it reasonable to suggest the agent would not be spending that much time pointing out the scouting staff who brought him here had helped his career or the coaching and support given to him here that has got him into this position. Whoever advises him will have vested interests which rarely benefits a players current club sadly

Buce Posted 8 July 2017 Posted 8 July 2017 10 hours ago, Sly said: Word on the street, he'll be staying until the start of the season unless anything significant changes. Blows all those fake Twitter accounts out the water that we're adamant he'd signed for Arsenal earlier this week. No one is willing to meet our valuation. We value him at a price that we'll need to replace him. Close thread.
