Mahrez to .......................?

I've sold the equation of Mahrez's valuation.

Arsenal paid £42.2 million for Ozil.

Mahrez is clearly better than Ozil.

Mahrez costs £55.7 million

Easy!

I think you'll find that isn't a view shared by the vast majority of football supporters

"Ungrateful turd" are you ****ing insane? He chose to stay with us when literally any team on the planet, far more illustrious teams, would have signed him in favour of playing with us in the Champions League? And apart from the fairly legitimate transfer request after many years with us he has acted like a true gent. Where's your anger at Ulloa for asking to leave mid season and venting his anger on Twitter? Jesus ****.

Except...There were no bids.

We have never ever received a bid for Mahrez.

No one wanted him last season? I'll take your word for that. You seem to be in the know.

Do you know that all these super clubs wanted him but he chose to stay?

Don't take my word for it.  It's pretty public knowledge and easy to look up.

Arsenal wanted to bid in August but were told he wasn't for sale. they were petrified of the stigma of bidding and us turning them down after vardy had dissed them in June. they are massive Arsenal and we are little Leicester remember. I think moksy indicated Chelsea had a sniff too. clubs tend not to bid if they are told not to bother.

My view ........

If the day we signed Mahrez for less than £1,000,000, someone had told me that he'd be part of a fairly tail, that ended up with us winning the Premier League Title and then be sold on for in excess of £30,000,00 I'd have snapped your hand off.

People are deluded that think he didn't care last season. He cared, it's hard not to care ..... however, have you never worked with inferior work mates that you end up carrying the can for as you get lumbered with all their shite?!? He was doubled up and no one else had the ability to step up. You stop Mahrez, you stopped Leicester. We all view the situation with Blue Timorese spectacles , look at it from Riyads point of view.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool Man City, Man Utd, none of them are that far behind Chelsea realistically. He'd get in all of those teams and you can't double up on him them as it leaves space for other players who are also dangerous. Cliché I know but we should have signed an option to carry the weight. One man doesn't make a team? No. He can however be integral to its operation.

I don't begrudge him the move, he can go where ever he believes he'll flourish. He was part of a dream team and like Kanté before him, I'll always remember him fondly.

Stop Mahrez you stop Leicester? Vardy, Albrighton, Ndidi etc seemed to do pretty well after Ranieri went didn't they?

Who's levels didn't improve?

Personally, he was outstanding in 2015/16 and I can't be bitter about a player who wants to leave but played such a huge part in us winning our one and only top flight title.

However, he wants to leave, so we should honour that and get as much from Arsenal as we can.  There's no point in him staying if he will not give his all. Put Gray as starting winger, bring Lawrence back into the first team fold, and we will be ok.

Come off it.  If they wanted him - player of the year - they would have gone all out to get him.  Lots of clubs are told that players are not for sale but don't take no for an answer.

Whatever  did or didn't happen behind the scenes the fact remains that we have never had a bid for him.

They're steady players.

They however, aren't players that can win you a game from nothing. Mahrez has the potential to be one of the best in the world. You'd never put any other player from our current squad in that bracket.

If we do sell him (which I hope we don't - yes, I am still holding out til it's a done deal), I hope we make him wait until Aug 13.  If he goes to Arsenal, the least we can do is not let him play against us on the first game of the season.

Those 'inferior work mates' consistently put in superior performances to him last season. And stop with all this 'he was doubled up on' nonsense- there were countless occasions where he had acres and still couldn't/wouldn't pick a pass.

He's a legend for 2015/16, but we won't miss what we got out of him last season.

Take yourself back to last August. Arsenal fans were spitting feathers at their transfer policy and vardy had already kicked them in the bollocks. They wanted Riyad but we told them he was not for sale for less than 55m - end of. Remember vichai's Instagram posts with his hands on Riyad's ears.

They didn't pursue him cos they knew we wouldn't capitulate below that price and they weren't prepared to pay that.

As far as I know, the info that we never received a bid comes solely from Rob Tanner, who likely got it direct from the club. Whether you think the club would tell the truth about it, knowing full well it would be published in the Mercury, is another matter. Apparently a few 'ITKs' here have said we did receive bids.

Who knows. I wouldn't consider either side as 'fact', the truth is we don't know who's right.

I wouldn't suggest he wasn't trying but his heart was no longer in it.  In his mind he was on his way and his levels dropped accordingly.  This happens all the time in football and I don't think it's a conscious thing.

I think you're being harsh on his team mates there.  A good player will stand out in a poor team, especially if  the rest of them are so 'inferior'.

Good Arsenal source - Lemar joining next week to AFC, left footed winger - Monaco. They'll try and get Mbappe resolved before thinking about an official bid for Mahrez.

Long way to go and Wenger is unlikely to start bids at the asking price of £40m.

He can move to a better team than Arsenal but if they are the only club interested and he wants to leave, where else can he go?

"Alright? Any decent players on the horizon? We might need a winger, you know"

"Well, there is this one bloke. He's scored over 20 goals this season. He's torn the best in the Premier League apart. He was a major reason his team won the premier league. And he's just won PFA player of the year."

"Dunno, mate. Sounds shit. Let's give it a miss."

Not the only one; there's a few comments and replies that seem to have been deleted from this thread?

Yes he can.

Vardy can have the ball from the halfway line and in the net in a flash.
