Kante didn't sign a lucrative new contact, throw his toys out and go running to the media, knowingly lowering our likely price in the process... lost respect for the way he's gone about it, not him wanting to leave.

Not sure about lowering the price: if a player wants out, public or otherwise, a club is unlikely to keep them anyway. His agent would have been touting him around regardless.

We've been in a relatively strong position - he announced it ages ago, giving us plenty of time to work out what to demand, and has a lengthy contract here. It's not like it was last minute with a week left off the window and meant we had to accept lower than market value.

The problem is that nobody but Arsenal really wants him. That in itself will likely lower any fee.

Wow ...    First we know he's gone to  Arsenal, now we know the fee ....   :)

You can't beat a good bit of guesswork! lol

If you don't ask, you don't get....

Our price is our price. In my opinion this is irrespective of the player saying he wants to go. If he had said nothing, arsenal would have been given encouragement behind the scenes by his agent and still have come forward with an offer of what they are prepared to pay. Infact, his public declaration means we save a loyalty payment to him which means a 35m fee is probably closer to 38m nett from our perspective.

I know others see see it differently

Mahrez is a quality player, you can see with his first touch and how much quicker he is mentally then every else in the Leicester side. He sees thing others don't and his left foot is up there with the best in the world. In a decent side he will get 15 + league goals and a bunch of assists. Sissoko wanted to leave and Newcastle received £30m for him. Anything less than £50m is an embarrassment as a player with Riyads qualities is well worth it.

£37m is a ridiculous price, if barkley is valued at £50m with a year left on his contract and deeney valued at £32m.... we are getting royally shafted.

how much was sissoko and he's terrible.

I can't remember Bert getting one wrong, so this is a bit of a shock.

I imagine they'll be a lot of haggling over the fee.

Massively disappointed in Mahrez. Arsenal aren't even in the champions league. Tarnished his record big time in the last 12 months.

Without his performance in the euros, they wouldn't have got 20m for him

last summer we were offered 35 m and refused it. he hasn't had a good season. Arsenal can argue that he is a risk. In six months we will know what he is worth but I trust the club to do the best they can (we got 32m for NG with a release clause of 20m)

Last season? No, you really can't.

I accept that, on his day, he is a class above. But let's not make out his failings last year were about anything other than himself. It's embarrassing to arse lick him when he's clearly just been shit, arguably because he's been less than commited.

If it's about him being in a decent side how come he got no better from March onwards when almost everyone else's form improved dramatically to the extent that we went from relegation certainties to safety in a matter of weeks?

Really, explain that to me.

at the end of the day when we signed him for £400k if you'd of said we would be selling him for £35m after winning the premier league I think we'd of all took it. Think some of us need to get some perspective

Arsenal isn't really a good move for him in the scheme of things.

He would have been better off not 'doing us a favour' by staying an extra year and playing shit!

Imagine talking about being ambitious and then you go to a team on a downward spiral who aren't in the Champions League lol

So he should stay put and stagnate? Really, it sounds like he doesn't have many other options given that Arsenal are the only ones who want him seriously.

Champions League or otherwise, they're still a big step up. And a potential stepping stone to the club he really wants in Barcelona...

It's a dick move going to Arsenal when hes said he wants Champions League but why be so bitter?

Hes up there with the greatest ever Leicester players so wishing him anything other than the best comes across as very bitter.

Why do we have to bargain? He has 3 years left on his contract.

And he only cost 400 grand. It's up to his agent to get 50 million out of arsenal to get his move. We can afford to stick him in the development squad if we want. Why give arsenal a top player for peanuts.

No he should have either:

A) Left whilst his stock was high

or

B) Put the effort in last season to put himself in the shop window.

It makes him look a bit foolish saying 'come and get me', he probably thought a Champions League team would come in for him and instead he's left with Arsenal. A step up yes but I don't that's what he was aiming for.

He needs to put in a transfer request to lose his loyalty bonus, an indirect statement through the press isn't that.

If him making the statement was going to have no affect it wouldn't have been made.

Part of me is pissed off he's staying in the Prem, part of me thinks they deserve eachother. When their players are being attacked by the fans for not turning up, caring, out of form, do they think Riyad is going to be any different? Can see him involved in a few locker room selfies.

They won't do anything of note next season. They never learn.

Don't agree - I'm pretty sure that his statement to the press is tantamount to a transfer request

I can see your point, and I think you might be right. Terrible move.

lol

The mahrez "critics" will have a field day next season lol.

If he plays bad he is a fraud and if he tares fuchs to shreds he is a snake and a traitor. Just hope he gets a ℅ of the love kantè got when he came back.

Mahrez is special, that assists to vardy vs man city and the nutmeg assist vs stoke, no one in the team can think about doing it let alone pulling it off.
