What does he do other than prance around and flick his hair anyway after a useless stepover? We'd rather have Steve Guppy back any day, a proper man's winger. Right Lads? ****ing love Steve Guppy

Yes... but I think everyone needs to accept that this happens all the time. 2 minutes ago, Bozman said: Liverpool just got took to task doing that.. Liverpool got done for flying the player to meet Klopp and the manager constantly texting him to try and get him to come. There are limits!!
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 What a dull place to play football Riyad. The Emirates is like a morgue and far from the bouncing King Power. If you go there you best pull your finger out as you'll barely hear a chant. You need to score a trick to wake the comatose gunners up. I'm not sure it's the best move career wise. He'd be much better going to Chelski. Ngolo would sort him out.

CosbehFox Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 If he goes Arsenal, I'll be annoyed due to not being CL football. Oddly, he completely fits into their squad but is completely what Arsenal don't need.
Brizzlfox Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 The rules apply equally to agents. Neither player nor agent can discuss personal terms with a prospective buying club unless or until a transfer fee has been agreed with the club that holds the player's registration and to which the player is contracted to. If Arsenal have discussed personal terms with either Mahrez or his agent - without first agreeing a fee with Leicester City and being granted permission by Leicester City to discuss personal terms - that would constitute an illegal approach under current rules.

Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 Agents speak to clubs before bids go in all the time. All the time.

Quite correct but people in glass houses etc

Are they strict enough to make a club think twice about an illegal approach? If not, why not? Lot of questions here I know!
Ted Maul Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 Fully expecting us to stand our ground on the fee. We played it well with Mahrez last summer, and I think we will again- I don't think the owners will want to be seen as a soft touch, and they are very astute businessmen. They will know what his value is in today's market.

The fact it goes on so easily I would imagine the penalties are not very severe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and this is pure assumption with no substance to back it up, but aren't most deals agreed with the player first these days? Or at least whilst a fee is being negotiated. It just seems to be that most are clever enough not to get into trouble, Liverpool aside.

The problem we have is that Mahrez took the step of going public with his desire to leave. Can we risk him having another season like last season? If we do we can absolutely forget ever getting more than the current 26m we have been offered, whilst paying him 100k a week to underachieve again. my guess is we will probably get about 35 million.
HankMarvin Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 Says Arsenal closing in on 30m lemar, is this to force our hand??

Brizzlfox Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 Impossible to police? Not if the evidence of their misdemeanours is being advertised in the media it's not...

Maybe Mahrez might realise that he needs to do more to get the biggest clubs sniffing around again, and we could see a different player if we keep him. We shouldn't be selling for less than £40m, that's for certain.

jayfox26 Posted 28 June 2017 Posted 28 June 2017 I dont care what agreement the owners and Mahrez had in place about him leaving, if we don't get the right money he ain't going anywhere. Minimum £35m in my opinion
