Amartey

Personally I thought he was just starting to settle into the team and looking fairly decent in CM before he went away to the AFCON. When he got back Ndidi had taken his place and then Ranieri left with Shakey seemingly not overly keen on him. I'd keep him if he wants to stay but not overly bothered if we get a good offer.

A lot of people seem to rate him but don't actually say why.

I think he's underrated on the ball, far better than people give him credit for. He's has all the physical attributes you'd want from a modern player. His footballing brain is the issue, constantly caught in two minds and often does neither. Never seems to trust himself... they are things that can come with game time and confidence.

Let's hope you're right. I've by no means given up hope.

I'm not sure what he offers in midfield. He is not a goal threat, that's fine. But defensively people run off him and his concentration is poor. I'd say his passing is average, all i remember him doing was passing to Drinkwater all the time. Yes he runs about and wins headers but I'm sure what else he offers?

Didn't he have a really good AFCON? Apparently he's a better centre back, and we've not given him a chance there, I'd like us to give him a chance. But I could understand why he'd want to leave if he does.

But if we sign two CBs + wes and Huth, he will be 5th choice CB? He will never play. The fact shakey played Fuchs and Yohan instead of him should say he's not that good.

Great half and half tash, 10/10 voice but a bizarre footballer.

You gave me an entry into my top 5 limbs moments but wouldn't be disappointed to see you go.

I get that. It would seem Shakey don't rate him, when Wes and Huth were injured and banned he couldn't get in. We should look to loan him out though, as he has the potential to be good.

Anyone slagging off Amartey after the passion he shown for his Stoke equaliser needs their head checking.

He's not exactly a blood and guts player, but he's clearly a good character and good player who hasn't found a place in our team.

It boils down to whether Shakey thinks he can use him in the team and playing style he is hoping to achieve. If he doesn't fit and we invite bids it doesn't make him shit.

He's more the 2017 Patrick Gerrbrand.  Shit at RB and CB.

Really want him gone.

He's shagging your bird isn't he?

If Amartey doesn't play CB in at least one friendly I'll be disappointed.

He probably walked into the room, hesitated about whether to or not then fell down the stairs.

Didn't attend a match last season but watched every game via a stream and really saw nothing from Amartey that says don't sell him. When he joined there were videos of him carrying the ball up the field and smashing in long range shots etc., but he looks so pedestrian when he plays for us. When he loses the ball he jogs slowly back into position while the attacking team sprint past him. He seems to have poor control, poor vision, and poor passing, his tackling isn't brilliant.

Ndidi is everything I hoped Amartey would be and more. I just don't see what Amartey gives us in any position, he's no more use than Andy King.

This thread reminds me of the Harry Kane / Jesse Lindgard / insert young developing player's name threads of the past.  I think we should keep him at least another season, maybe look at loaning him out, if there are no opportunities or game time for him, in the January window (after playing him in the 3rd round of the FA Cup).

Some folks on this thread want a squad of 22+ starting XI players.  Never going to happen.

Let's judge him on his second season in England before writing him off.  Same goes for Mendy, Slimani, Kaputska etc...
