Amartey

We've never really tried him at centre back, which is where he plays for Ghana. So I don't think he's been given a fair crack of the whip. But then Shakeh clearly doesn't rate him as he  didn't play him when both Huth and Morgan were injured/suspended at the end of last season. If we can get £15m for him, it basically pays for Maguire. Sell.

Not given a fair crack. Keep.. We need to offload some of the more aged players.

I say keep but cant blame him if he wants off.

It would be our luck that he matures into a world class defender in 5 years time...

So sod anything to do with performances or team-mates wanting game time - just the focus on what he wants!

I've seen enough anyway.

He might not have played at centre-half for the first team but I bet Shaky's seen plenty of him playing in central defence on training days - and doubtless being left for lost by the trickier players on occasions.

My impression when watching him is that Amartey doesn't always see the runners, has a languid style as if "sometime/whenever" will do and, for a midfielder, so rarely takes responsibility by actually making something happen.

He doesn't get tight enough to the playmakers and looks nothing out of the ordinary at full-back either.

I don't say he can't improve but we're a football club not a bottle of Chateau Lafite.

He'd love it in Milan. Warm weather, time on the ball. laid-back lifestyle....at his age we've probably no right to deny him either his wants or his agent's.

Perhaps he will become the world's greatest defender. But he's shown no signs of it in his time here. Maybe Inter have a vacancy at centre-back - or centre-forward, or goalkeeper, wherever he thinks brings out the best in him.

As a footballer I'd liken him most to a  weekend yachtsman - tacking here and back there on the gentle breezes. Quite willing and steady in some ways but no Dame Ellen.

Athlete turned footballer just like Schlupp.  Get rid and stop pretending he is going to be any good.

If we keep him for another 6 years he might be blah blah blah.

After losing faith with him , I actually thought he looked alright at CB against Bournemouth, I would definitely keep for next season and see how much progress he makes.

Why has he not been given a fair crack? hes played loads!

A seasons loan to the Championship then assess him after. If he hasn't improved, that will be the time to sell him. Saying that, if they were to come in with say £15m, it would potentially be hard to turn down for someone who MIGHT end up being a decent player.

5th choice CB, 5th choice CM, 2nd choice RB, with a season without European football I can't see playing more than 5 games.

Agreed. I'm not sure what he offers to be honest, get rid if there's genuine interest.

He COULD develop into a great CB but players only develop when they get game time. Who you gonna drop for him?

Play him or sell him.

He couldn't even get ahead of Fuchs or Benalouane as a centre back and probably isn't good enough to be a midfielder.

In his defence he has some decent attributes and is still young but I'd sell for anything north of what we paid for him.

I love these suggestions - someone wanted to send Musa (another international player with a 18 million price tag ) out to the championship too . That won't happen and more to the point never has- apart from anything else the player would almost certainly baulk  at being treated like a promising graduate from our U 20s squad

Amartey has played 1767 minutes of Premier League football which is just shy of twenty 90 minutes. Hardly loads.

And he's barely played at centre half in that time.
