It would be our luck that he matures into a world class defender in 5 years time...

It would be a miracle, to be fair...

Why has he not been given a fair crack? hes played loads!

Compared to 'others' that under-performed week in week out over a period of months, 'I' do not consider he was afforded the same game time opportunities as these individuals were. That is my point.

Just feel we are missing something here. Especially as we haven't seen him a CB. Could be Kramaric Mark 2 but have to respect Shakeys judgement on this one if we get a decent fee.

Amartey has played 1767 minutes of Premier League football which is just shy of twenty 90 minutes. Hardly loads.

And he's barely played at centre half in that time.

**** me that's about 3 times as much as Gray - a player who has shown he has potential in his cameo appearances.

Amartey on the other hand has proven nothing other than he simply is not good enough.

Gray has played 1210 minutes. Which is about 13 and a half 90 minutes.

Amartey hasn't proven anything, nor has Gray.

They're both kids playing bit part roles. Amartey hasn't even played in his supposed preferred position for us.

He has appeared to have made the same positional and poor passing mistakes throughout his playing stint thus far.

Either he'll focus on these strongly during pre-season and more prepared for when the season starts, or he can leave now - I'm beginning to feel the latter is the better decision, despite any possible losses, as he seems to be a player that doesn't learn from his errors.

Keep. When Amartey first arrived here he had to try to make an impression in a team that was winning the league. Then he had to replace the irreplaceable. After that he's had to play in a team totally devoid of confidence and enthusiasm. Since Shakey's got here he has hardly had any playing time. Throughout all of this he has mostly been played out of position. Give him another season, I reckon he's got something to him.

A loan or a buy-back clause to somewhere he'll get playing time could also be a solution if Shakey doesn't feel he's ready yet.

Tough one. I'm all for developing him, but play him in his correct position or let him go somewhere else and play at centre back with another club.

Seems there's a quite a split on here between people who'd rather have ready made players and people who'd like to see young players developed. I think I'll always like to see a player grow with the club rather than sacking them off early doors because they're not quite good enough.

Kinda feels like we bought him based on that run that he made in Sweden lol

I hope we won't be saying the same about Maguire's run in Manchester

Completely and utterly out of his depth. Every time I have seen him play he's been a liability to the rest of the team. Not Premiership standard now and never will be , get rid asp.

Versatile but not good enough in midfield or full back and curiously never plays in his favoured position of CB.

Loan him out for the season, bring him back if he impresses.

I think Amartey will be fine but i'll agree with whatever Shakey thinks as well

people saying they would let him go are mad in my opinion he's young, athletic and has been decent in patches and can play CM, CB and RB.

He's not very good at right back or central midfield and we will have 4 CBs ahead of him?
