st albans fox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Good business by the club to have a keeper lined up to come if kasper gets a late window offer from yanited. Problem is - will gent have their replacement in place etc etc .:...

Blaze of glory signing, then get's shunted down the sidings! Hope there's no truth in this atm, as it would suggest KS replacement rather than back-up...and we don't want Kasper going ! Personally I hope it is back up and maybe a statement that they are planning for the future - having him as a Number 2 learning from Kasper would be good and a quality back up is imperative (look at Zieler for evidence) - at some point KS will leave for a Top Top Club so this actually would make a lot of sense. Forget the fees as it is madness generally but a quality keeper is needed. Sadly, I fear that it is not as back up and that does really worry me as KS is our most important player by a long way!
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Maybe Kasper's pledged his future to us for another (final) year, and this guy is the long term replacement. Who knows, but let's not jump to conclusions.

Melbourne Fuchs Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Interesting ... Genk recently brought in Danny Vukovic. He was the best goalkeeper in the A-League last season (Aussie league) but pretty average by European standards I would say. Not sure if that's relevant to this transfer or not. But if Vukovic is meant to be the replacent for this guy, the standard of goalkeeping at Genk can't be too high.

Ric Flair Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Weren't we linked with him last summer and went for Zieler instead?

MPH Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Nice bit of casual racism in here. Because he has the same heritage as a player who didn't play well for us, we must steer clear...

Would you have paid £32m for Kante, as Chelsea did, or would refuse the opportunity as he was bought for only £5.5m a year earlier? That said it it does sound a lot of money.

He's an uninspired and uninspiring choice who won't be an advantage in attracting the kind of players we should be signing. Imo, of course.

Yes, because having an internationally renowned manager that had just won the Premier league had the greats of world football queuing up to join us last season didn't it? Who would you have appointed instead?
