You'd bloody hope not wouldn't you!!!

Can't imagine the player would be too chuffed either ... Blaze of glory signing, then get's shunted down the sidings!

Hope there's no truth in this atm, as it would suggest KS replacement rather than back-up...and we don't want Kasper going !

Personally I hope it is back up and maybe a statement that they are planning for the future - having him as a Number 2 learning from Kasper would be good and a quality back up is imperative (look at Zieler for evidence) - at some point KS will leave for a Top Top Club so this actually would make a lot of sense. Forget the fees as it is madness generally but a quality keeper is needed.

Sadly, I fear that it is not as back up and that does really worry me as KS is our most important player by a long way!

Interesting ...

Genk recently brought in Danny Vukovic. He was the best goalkeeper in the A-League last season (Aussie league) but pretty average by European standards I would say. Not sure if that's relevant to this transfer or not.

But if Vukovic is meant to be the replacent for this guy, the standard of goalkeeping at Genk can't be too high.

If we buy a player for £25m that went for £3m in January, the person in charge of that needs lining up against a wall and shooting.

Could be an excellent signing then........

you are mistaking Genk for Gent: 2 different teams in the belgian league

Nice bit of casual racism in here. Because he has the same heritage as a player who  didn't play well for us, we must steer clear...

Would you have paid £32m for Kante, as Chelsea did, or would refuse the opportunity as he was bought for only  £5.5m a year earlier?

That said it it does sound a lot of money.

Tbf. I've read every post here, can't find anything remotely racist. Must be missing something obviously

No surprise, really.

We settled for comfortable, mid-table mediocrity the minute we installed Shakespeare as manager.

Why did we?

I think you're reading a bit too much into light-hearted references to Spider Kalac.

50 odd years old, career assistant manager, did little better than Claudio had been doing (once the new manager bounce had expired) - steadying the ship is not the same as taking us to the next level that we aspire to. He's an uninspired and uninspiring choice who won't be an advantage in attracting the kind of players we should be signing.

Imo, of course.

Yes, because having an internationally renowned manager that had just won the Premier league had the greats of world football queuing up to join us last season didn't it?

Who would you have appointed instead?
