I assume he meant because Walsh is the DOF rather than him identifying the targets which clearly he is involved in

Correct.

Salary, the club, the other players and the manager are the reason a player joins a club not just because he fancies the DOF.

All that without the need to resort to childish name calling too.  School hols have started early this year.

You forgot Matty James

Nope, what actually happened is that you failed to read a post properly again and went off on your high horse telling people how it is in the informed world of Mokskyland.

You mean like this post on page 17 where this started and I made the point that if they wanted him they would have to pay 12 as Swansea bid 10.5... so we err paid the extra having learnt our lessons from last year?

FFS.

I give up with you, I havent got time to keep going back on posts. They have made a hash of the last 3 windows excluding Ndidi, (this one included so far) even the dragged on appointment of Shakey, therefore they are proving imcompetent. I also refer to who they have signed, who they have missed out on, and what they sold Kante for, and what they are missing out on currently. £12m on our 7th CM on a squad player , because Swansea went in at £10.5m, is hardly justifying the decision to bring him here. Wake up and look at the bigger picture.

£10m , we got £12m for Schlupp in Jan.

Ok Michel Keane has now become and England International and just signed for Everton for a deal up to £30m.

Every man and his dog was screaming for him, he wanted to come.

I rest my case on this one.

This time last year, £20m would have seemed very expensive for Keane.

I don't think you see the bigger implications of paying well over the odds for a player then. How do you think other clubs would see us if we paid that much for Keane?Every club would then expect us to pay over the odds for their players, it's a bad habit to get into.

I don't see why people think we are signing a substitute. Just because he's a sub for Sevilla doesn't mean he will for us.

Yes we beat Sevilla but don't fool yourself, they are better than us. We were class on the night and it was enough but overall a top 4 Spanish side would be head and shoulders above most of the Premier League.

He sounds like a great player to have in the squad but I can't see why we would sign him if the intention was for him to be a sub.

Andy King must be getting more and more nervous by the day..

This talk of him being a sub or on the bench is short sighted. What is clear is that the top European teams use a squad.

With Nzonzi and Nasri performing well in MF Iborra may have spent time as a sub but what if one of those was injured? What of tactical changes,he started at the KP in the away leg for Sevilla.

City had the chance to strengthen and add to the depth of the squad last summer but didn't, now we have to catch up on experienced, quality recruitment. I suggested in an earlier post that Iborra is likely to be an alternative to Silva, I doubt Silva will join, that boat sailed last summer. We still will need to add creativity, particularly ifMahrez goes .

I didn't say it was solely because of Walsh, I said he and money were the main factors in their signings.

Take Keane as one example: Walsh wanted him last summer, we would not pay the price.

He leaves for Everton, Keane follows as he has been scouted by Walsh previously, who recommmeds his purchase.

How has Walsh not been a primary factor in him going to Everton?

And further, how is Everton paying the £25m fee not another primary factor in him being transferred?

I found it difficult to understand your retort of 'absolute rubbish' to my previous post stating Walsh and money are the two reasons for players currently signing for Everton.

Yours,

a baffled NTML

But it wouldn't have been paying over the odds - his stock has risen to £30m in the last twelve months, so it would actually have been an investment.

Bad habit of missing out on quality , £10m is your valuation. Every club is maximising what they can get including the players agent.

you can't sneak in and get a cheeky accepted and expect to have realistic chance , that only happens when we sell ................

In your eyes. His age is on his side.

Just out of interest if you had the Choice, Iborra or Chalobah?

Anyone that just signs on the dotted line, at this moment in time.

Andy Brassel, "European expert" just said on Talksport- he's a cupboard with technique. Rates him highly and sees a very good fit with Ndidi.

Having posted this you may wish to reflect on decrying me for saying money was a main factor, and then contradicting yourself by including it as a reason players move yourself.

In pretty much everyone on the forum's mind i'd have said. Hindsight...

Most people I know think were mad for not signing him last season for at £20m. In fact at one stage £17m would have got his signature

Including Walsh...............

At the time Keane was worth no where near £20 million so of course it would've been paying over the odds.

Where does it end though? You can't just pay double what you think a player is worth. There has to be a cut off point.

That's good to know. We definitely need more cupboards in the team.

The players age warranted it. Stones was £50m. Anyway sadly the club went with your opinion, and valuation he wasnt worth it,  hes now at Everton with Walsh
