Just finished rewatching the win against Sevilla focussing on Iborra. I'll get the negatives out of the way first. Obviously this is all based on one game and he had the unfortunate task of playing against the mighty Leicester City.

Negatives:

- He really didn't touch the ball much, in comparison to the rest of the Sevilla players. I can already see someone calling him Andros King after his first or second game for us as he did seem invisible at times (and you'd think with his height he'd stand out)

- He's not much of a ball-winner, I only saw him gain possession once however it was a fairly crucial tackle against Albrighton.

- He conceded the free-kick that resulted in Morgan's goal.

Positives:

- As far as I could see, he only misplaced one pass that wasn't a header or volley and that was because he slipped. He's unbelievably composed on the ball, in stark contrast to Morgan, Huth, Drinky and Simmo's approach (just to name a few) of if in doubt hoof it out.

- Won lots of headers.

- I've never seen a player direct his teammates as much as Iborra did, however I don't often just focus on one player.

- Very versatile, he started as a defensive mid. At half time he was an attacking mid. By 70 mins he was a striker.

- Him and Ndidi could compliment each other very well. Ndidi's (only) weakness seems to be his passing and this guy is clearly proficient at that.

- He wasn't as immobile as some are making out.

That's about all I could get from one game, obviously take this with a bucket full of salt.

Can you please stop posting these well observed balanced opinions, it goes against everything I've come to know FT transfer threads to be

Watching it now, how he dovetailed with N'Zonzi stood out to me in how he'd perhaps work with N'didi.

- He put in a dangerous (deflected?) cross that Simpson did very well to deal with.

-He drew a yellow card from Ndidi, although even I know how to get elbowed in the face lol

Agree with that so far other than him being immobile, he does like a bit plodding so far. I'd worry about him being in a two and being asked to get forward and back quickly.

Probably not so friendly after we beat them lol. They do seem to have some quality fans.

Yeah, he probably wouldn't work best in a two but with the way some were going on about him I was expecting Robert Huth in midfield!

Watching re-runs of last season?? Is it raining  there?

can confirm when we put the offer in to Sevilla for Iborra, part of it was to have the offer as 'Private' like on Football Manager. This is why ITKs didn't know about it

I'm just watching the home game against them and it's not hard to see why his passing stats are ok, I've not seen him pass the ball forwards more than once. He seems fairly calm, but every ball is collect it and pass it back to the centre backs almost without fail. He's pretty lumbering and on what I've seen so far there is no way I'd want this fella playing in a 4-4-2. Granted, it's 45 minutes in a game where they didn't play particularly well as a team.  If his other performances reflect this, then we certainly need to change formation and we need two CB's comfortable on the ball, because they will see the ball a lot.

Seems to be somewhere between N'didi and Drinks for passing forward. Sometimes going back isn't a bad thing as it retains the ball bait like you said, it would require better ball playing CB's than we've had but we do seem to be trying to add that to the team.

I think this guy will be a good signing. Especially since we're not breaking the bank for him.

Sevilla must have negotiated the offer and changed it to public, hence the announcement on their side.

All makes sense now as to why the fountains of knowledge came out after the story broke!

I think he might be - you never know.......

Has Drinkwater returned to training after his hip op?

you have to change those stats to 'per 90' metrics instead of totals surely, otherwise drinky's stats will be falsely inflated

He looked to be a full participant in yesterday's session.

I'm sure a shit hip beard will be grown to compensate.

Will accompany the standard bell-end standard hair style when it grows back I would assume.

As someone who generally supports your views i find it hard to understand your belief in Inler.

Every time i watched him he seemed much more suited to warm-weather football than the pace and pressure of Premiership games.

He needed more time on the ball than Diane Abbott might need on a maths paper and his indiscreet/inaccurate longer-range passing so nearly cost us goals on several occasions.

Also Inler never suggested he might score or make the goals that Iborra promises. We so badly need someone who's genuinely creative and Iborra might be well turn out a positive for various reasons.

I understand concerns about passing accuracy but incisive defence-splitting passes aren't anything like as easy as retention passes - nor ever will be. What matters is how many he and we can make count.

I'm not. I wasn't impressed with Inler at all, but the point I was making was the man made 5 appearances for us. Reason being was the form of Drinkwater and Kante, he wasn't needed in any way. King got a few appearances here and there but it just didn't happen for Inler. If Iborra only gets 5 games for us then we've either had a blinder of a season and he can't get a sniff, he gets injured or he is absolutely revolting right from the off, which would be unusual.

Inler was also 32 and being reported by Napoli fans as well on the decline(if not finished), was it Napoli? Whichever team he came from lol

Yep really do at arsenal we should play 3 in midfield keep it tight

Mendy moving on now this is happening? Doubt we'll recover the cost of Mendy, but should keep us in balance cost wise with  Iborra
