Bang on.

We're signing a player who was touted to Sunderland last season. It's easy buying players who aren't particularly valued by their clubs but a lot harder when you're trying to sign a club's best player like Gibson, Keane, Sigurdsson, etc.

It wouldn't take a lot of effort for a club to come here and prise King, Benalouane, Ulloa, etc away but try coming here for Schmeichel, Ndidi, Vardy, etc.

I'm of the opinion that if a player isn't good enough for Sevilla then he isn't good enough for us. We're a wealthier club and pay higher salaries and when it comes down to it money is 90% of the attraction. However it's very kind of us to take one of Sevilla's cast offs at a generous price.

Our whole transfer policy infuriates me, we should always be trying to sign the best players in the world out there that aren't at the biggest clubs. It all smacks a bit of FM2017 when you sign the best out there that's been offered to you rather than quality scouting being the key.

I agree, but Maguire, Musa, Slimani were all the best players and highly prized at their respective clubs. They weren't offered to us. We scouted them, decided we wanted them, and got them with ease. They fit the bill of 'best players not at biggest clubs' - their clubs were decent. Can't put much blame when/if they turn out to be not so great here.

Still don't think we will pull it off...it's happened too quickly...and isn't particularly inspiring the fact they're happy to let him go.....

On that basis you wouldn't have signed Mahrez, or Morgan, or Huth, or Vardy, or Kasper.

Still, you would have signed Musa, though!

Nobody is going to Everton because of Walsh. What nonsense.

"Bill Kenwright has got a great relationship with my representatives and he was a major factor in me coming here, and Steve Walsh as well. I know him from my days at Leicester, so I felt really wanted by everyone at the club and I just can't wait to get going now."

On Sevilla's forums and Google Translate has thrown up some interesting responses.

Here's a better translation for you:

El alma de un vestuario jamás tiene precio, pero como bien han dicho arriba, nuestro capitán se ha ganado a pulso lo que le salga de la chorra hacer, porque haga lo que haga, estará bien.

Honor a futbolistas como él.

The spirit in a dressing room cannot be measured in money, but as the higher-ups have said, our captain has earned the right to leave on his own terms through his years of graft. Whatever he decides to do next, he'll be fine.

Footballers like him are to be revered.

It looks a great deal for the figure being touted.

Let's not put too much pressure on him though and give him time to adapt, he could end up being another Inler.

We were operating at a different level when we signed "Mahrez, or Morgan, or Huth, or Vardy, or Kasper".

I don't mind the Musa type blueprint signing but I had reservations when we appeared to sign him just because he was an ex Walsh target but was worried when I read a lot of Russians and Nigerians had him down as a player who was a one trick pony and very hit and miss.

I just get the feeling that we have no long term plan on our transfer deals and we're very passive and happy to get someone who is okay and available. I look at our transfer dealings and look at what Everton have done this summer and cringe. We were a bigger draw than Everton a year a go and that could have been us and now they're a dot on the horizon.

They're willing to let him go because they've brought in Banega who is a better player. Iborra is decent though, solid with reasonable technique.

Are the Sevilla fans of the opinion he's good?

Just been on their forum and their opinion is that he's a loss on the pitch because he gives them 100% commitment and graft rather than technical quality.

They also think he's a great leader and character to have around and are more sad to leave him for that reason.

Cant see many negative comments on there

I'd love for him to come in and prove everyone wrong. Everyone who isn't a Leicester fan seems impressed with the signing so why aren't we?

Because he's probably an average PL player at best that doesn't improve our first XI and at 29 and £25m invested in him in the next four years will prove to be a bad deal for us financially.

Well, there are comments that he didn't work as a CM in a Sampoali team from what I can gather due to his passing but was better when played further forward in the system so that's promising on a level. Bear in mind Sevilla have much higher expectations of technical ability than we do!!!

That's very true, fingers crossed. I'm just happy that we're already close to signing our second new player, moving quickly at the very least.

Not sure if already been mentioned but The added increase to the transfer fee compared to Sunderland's accepted bid could be down to the fact he signed a new contract after that deal fell though

he had 18 months left when Sunderland bidded

he has 3 years left on his current contract when we bidded

Also a bid was rejected of 10.5m

TBF a number of Italian football 'experts' predicted Inler to be a very good signing for us.

I hope Iborra is a good signing I genuinely do but I have my reservations as a few others have aswell

Most fans complained about the lack of effort we displayed last season so he's a grafter who will give 100% every game he plays, maybe he's an average premier league player but in reality we're an average premier league side!

Also true, we'd be kidding ourselves to say anything other than that really :)

I felt like that at first, then I realised the signings Everton have been making are fairly similar to what we did last season (but with a bit more spending). A couple of expensive players who 'on paper' should do really well (Slimani, Musa), and a couple of cheaper relative unknowns who are potential gems (Hernandez, Kapustka). I'll judge Everton's transfer window once we actually find out if the players are any good. They probably will be, because it's Walsh, but they also might not be. If our signings (whether that turns out to be 2 or 5 players) turn out to be better, we could have had a better summer window than Everton.

People keep saying he could be another Inler, but what they fail to consider is Inler was partly a failure here because Kante and Drinkwater and the team as a whole were so relentless and we won the league. Had we finished 12th in 15-16 then Inler may well have been called upon more and he may have settled in and done ok. It's all conjecture but Iborra comes with the sorts of attributes that could fit in.

We need to strip down our central midfield though. King/Mendy/James/Amartey 2 of those need moving on. We also need a creative player in either the number 10 role or out wide. If we lose Mahrez and don't get in someone to unlock teams then we'll be on a level with West Brom for turgid football. At least they have players who can deliver set pieces for their brutes, we're a disgrace.

I dont see us playing Drinkwater, Ndidi and Iborra as a 3 either and if we did, we'd badly need our full backs to push on and be able to attack. Simpson is muck at this.

We we might be in the stages of transition, we need new options but I worry we'll fail to do it properly.

We always fail to do it properly lol

I wouldnt be surprised to see us try 3 in Midfield and we have some players than can give us options here:

Defensive role: Ndidi, James, Iborra, Amartey, Mendy

Box-to-box: Drinky, James, Ndidi, Iborra, Mendy

Attacking: Lawrence, Iborra, Okazaki
