Max Power Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 A few times I've seen him he's been the most advanced midfielder. Physical but with a nice touch, could be a good fit for us.

Something about this just screams stinker like Inler. I was waiting for someone to say this, it was my over-riding feeling after the initial excitement. On paper he's class and a proven player, will he suits our scruffy football? Fcuk it, get him in.
Ric Flair Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Rudkin apparently met his entourage in Gran Canaria at the weekend. GEW ON JON!

He's 6ft 3, and if was able to play further forward, balls into the box etc or if we want to go long it could be effective.

urban.spaceman Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 25+ games a season in La Liga for a team knocking on the door of the top 5. 10+ games a season in the Europa League, winning it 3 times in a row. 7 games in the Champions League only to be knocked out by the mighty Leicester City. "Sunderland class" Jamie Vardy was once "Fleetwood Town class". Not even good enough for Sheffield Wednesday. Wes Morgan was once "Nottingham Forest class". This guy would be a fantastic addition to the squad.
Innovindil Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 Considering we consistently got slapped at set pieces last season, having a midfielder that likes winning a header could do us a lot of good.

Seems like a more realistic Sigurdsson / Silva hybrid. Now you've got us dreaming! Let's hope if we get him he doesn't turn out to be an Inler / Mendy hybrid ??

Happy Fox Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/leicester-city-transfer-news-vicente-iborra-sevilla-riyad-mahrez-arsenal-a7821116.html Leicester City want to sign Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra and are willing to nearly double his wages to seal a deal. The 29-year-old midfielder played against the Foxes in the Champions League last season and recruitment chiefs at the King Power felt the tall midfielder was perfectly built to succeed in the Premier League. A fee of £12m is understood to be enough to convince the Andalucian club to sell the player they signed for Levante for less than a quarter of that. Sunderland made efforts to sign the versatile Spaniard in January, after he spent much of the season being used in central midfield or as an auxiliary centre-forward. READ MORE Swansea lead Leicester and Newcastle in race for Coventry starlet Iborra's height and barrel-chested physique make him an ideal target for aerial attacks and set pieces. West Ham United are also understood to be interested in the three-time Europa League winner. While Iborra could arrive in England this week, should Sevilla finalise a deal with the Foxes, Riyad Mahrez is expected to leave the club. The Algerian winger is attracting the strongest interest from Arsenal but, contrary to reports overseas, there is no agreement over a transfer for the 2015/16 Premier League winner.
chadlcfc Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 I spoke to Rudkin last night. He said he should have a new player very soon.

lcfcsnow Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 How many club captains have we signed over the past few years though, it seems to be the number 1 priority when signing a player

Alf Bentley Posted 3 July 2017 Posted 3 July 2017 21 minutes ago, Buce said: I don't play Football Manager (or whatever) but don't those stats say he's not a defensive midfielder? Can we have an accurate translation, please, @Alf Bentley? 16 minutes ago, Liamlcfc1 said: http://www.marca.com/futbol/sevilla/2017/07/03/595a3cca46163f60088b45e2.html "The Sevilla captain, Vicente Iborra, is very close to leaving the Nervión* club after Leicester raised their initial bid to 14 million Euros. From the outset Leicester, Sevilla's rivals in the Champions League last season, was the club that really went for the Valencia-born player. MARCA [major Spanish sports paper] revealed the bid last Thursday and the deal could be sealed in the coming hours. The player does not intend to force the issue, but has the prospect of the last big contract of his career at the age of 29. The club knows this and values all that Iborra has given to Sevilla over his four years fighting for the team's cause. The club knows that it is a major loss, both on the pitch and in the dressing-room, and talk at the club is more about the personal loss than about the suitability of the deal - for more than twice what the player cost four years ago (6 million Euros)" (* Nervión - district of Seville where the club is based, apparently) According to Wiki, he's played attacking midfield a lot in recent seasons - scoring 9, 9 & 8 goals for Sevilla last 3 seasons (mainly in La Liga, a few in Europe). It also says that he's 6ft 3 tall. If this story is true (and Marca should be a good source, in theory), I wonder if he's being brought in as an attacking midfielder/second striker, to play behind Vardy and get on the end of crosses from Albrighton & co? As @Babylon pointed out, those playing time stats suggest he's either being subbed on or off a lot....maybe he'll play half the game and Shinji the other half? The other stats suggest that he's achieving a lot while he's on the pitch - lots of creativity & key passes, winning lots of aerial battles & scoring goals. Can't say that I particularly noticed him against us, but wasn't really watching their players. He's not that young and he's not cheap, but I like the sound of him. Sounds like a very good, experienced player, strong in the air and a positive influence if he was captain and they're concerned about the loss of his influence in the dressing room.... I'll leave your invoice for translation services for collection behind the bar in Oadby Wetherspoon's, Buce!
