Gylfi has played 106 times for Swansea City scoring 27 goals .

Iborra has played 113 times for Sevilla scoring 24 goals .

Iborra is 2 years older but more experienced and cheaper it seems .

Sevilla captain, you say?

I hope we don't sell Mendy. We could have former captains from Nice and Sevilla in the midfield, which would be interesting to say the least.

Would he play in Shinji's position though or compete with Drinkwater & Ndidi?

The info on where is plays he pretty sketchy... which is somewhat worrying.

He can play CM, CDM and CB.

played mostly as a defensive midfielder but may be suited as a ball playing CB if we play with 3 at the back, if we do get him I can see us getting a lot of joy from Fuch's long throws next season with Iborra and Maguire in the box we just need to sign someone who can take a decent corner.

When I've seen him play for Sevilla he is one of their least technical players (though still not bad). More of an old fashioned midfield powerhouse with lungs to burn and not afraid to mix it. Whilst I do feel we need a technical player in the team (especially if Riyad leaves), this guy would fit really well into our team. We could rotate between him, Ndidi and Drinkwater or just play all three against the bigger teams (and our start features many of those). He also scores a lot of goals by arriving late or tapping the ball in so would add another threat, especially given our direct style. So he might even be an Okazaki replacement too given how deep he plays.

At the end of the day the price being banded about for the captain of Sevilla is peanuts when you think they basically want the same price we sold Jeff Schlupp for.

Decent stats in a rubbish league. Wouldn't get anywhere near that over here. No thanks.

Are you taking the piss?

Maybe we are planning to play something like this:

Schmeichel

Maguire - Gibson - Fuchs

Albighton - Drinky - Iborra - Ndidi - Chilwell

Vardy - Slimani

Looks about the least creative team in the world every game would be 0-0

Guy on Reddit says to my "what's he like then" question:

"Big, strong, decent with his feet and will get goals if allowed to play in the hole, but has played a bit deeper as well. Can pretty much do any job from CB to CF and has at points for Sevilla. Great in the air. A competitor and will be a hit for either club."

I do get Inler vibes, but he could also Cambiasso-esque in his incredibleness. Would rather we get someone bit younger in though if poss.

We've been looking like we want to play 3-5-2 for quite some time. Would make sense. I think if Mendy hadn't gotten hurt, we might have seen it more often under Claudio.
