Dont know what to make of that. £7 mill for a player that can't make our 18 sounds good, but a talented young English winger tends to go for more than that these days.

He's Welsh.

Vardy is in great form.... but he is 31 this season.

He will be out of our team befire we fans have sorted out the nembetship scheme.

I know it is frustrating. But we have to do the succession planning

Cannot get into a match day squad so if £7 million is on the table take it and chuck in a buy back clause or sell on % fee. He needs to be playing on a regular basis so lets send him down the road and keep an eye out on how he does

The squad needs thinning out a bit. £7 million for a player with 1 year left on his contract and unlikely to be a regular seems sensible.

Would rather he stayed. Mahrez likely to leave and playing like a nob, leaving only Gray and Albrighton as our wingers, and despite having a squad with loads of midfielders, very few of them offer much in a creative sense.

Shakespeare didn't want to sell, we originally turned the offer down.

Lawrence has been waiting to see how the transfer window is panning out, knowing that Musa was the one we were looking to offload, and Mahrez possibly going too.

With no movement on either front, and Derby leaving their offer on the table, he's now told us he wants the move.

That's changed the situation somewhat, as it's made it perfectly clear there is absolutely no chance of him signing a new contract, so he would definitely be gone for nothing next year.

We've reluctantly decided to cash in, and let him have his move.

On the plus side, we're now pushing forward in our pursuit of adding another winger, hence why we're the rumour mill is starting to churn again!

It's really annoying to watch a team like Spurs who have the capacity to bring in youth players into their team and then have them grow... I just don't think they way we play is particularly enabling for our young/inexperienced players to come into the team.

The style we play requires high levels of discipline and ridiculous concentration. It's a real shame as we have a few gems who just aren't going to get time on the pitch to express themselves unless we change the way we play (Gray and Lawrence are both victims to this, imho).

Is it just young players though or any player? We've had the same team for the past 2/3 seasons apart from Kante and Ndidi, and both played the same position. Our goalkeeper defence and attack are all 30+ now

Hopefully a sell on fee and promotion payment if they're so keen to get the player.

Derby inserting a promotion payment is like inserting a fee for every time Bernie takes a bath.

I wouldn't sell him, personally. He had a fantastic spell on loan at Ipswich last season.  Have you seen his goals from last season? Some absolute crackers.

Oooooooo ooooooo oooooo ooooo nah nah nah nah nah nah nah BEN MARSHALL.

He's out of contract in the summer.

Sky Sports saying he's having his medical this afternoon

DERBY CLOSE ON LAWRENCE

We understand Leicester's Tom Lawrence will undergo a medical atDerby this afternoon, as the two clubs edge closer to a £7m deal.

There are a number of contractual issues still to address, but Lawrence is keen on the move as he wants to play regular first-team football.

Gary Rowett is desperate to strengthen his squad, after taking just one point from Derby's opening two Championship games
