cc_star Posted 29 July 2017 Posted 29 July 2017 We've got a good bunch of players who won the league title by TEN POINTS not that long ago, but it looks like our 442 or its 4411 variation is extremely flat & highly predictable for the opposition. Obviously it's about minutes in the tank at this stage before the season but I still can't help worrying if we're going to be battling for 17th in the coming season, or that Arsenal are going to get a cricket score on the opening day & we're not going to have a single attempts at goal We seem to have players to play a variety of different ways, so I'm disappointed not to have seen it from Shakey in these 4 games 4231 - With Ndidi & Mendy or James in front of defence and Mahrez, Iborra & Albrighton behind Vardy up front 433 352 If I see Drinkwater just hoofing aimless balls in the hope Vardy can muscle past a defender & score time, time & time again.... I'll, errm... I don't know, but it's not only predictable for the opposition to defend with ease, it's getting pretty boring to defend, defend, defend and then hit & hope

I suspect not because we don't have enough players with the football brain and football skills to do it. We don't even do something as basic as a defence splitting pass to a player running through or any such variations of that.

I think the latter. we only have 3 players who play penatrating ,forward passes. Fuchs , Drinwater and marhez. Only one of those three turns and takes players on. Its no coincidence that, all three had a poor year. All was pressed and pressured on the ball as teams were aware of our threats. When we won the league. Kante could and would break from deep. Turning and taking players on.We still turnover quite a lot of balls but only have one outlet.Vardy? All of our players want to face goal they all run off, thus having to play a through ball ? Until we get midfielders who can turn and run with the ball,break lines . Hoof it is 4411 is dead. IF vardy doesn't take one of his few chances. A bit of Magic from Marhez. We don't look like scoring, never mind winning for a while. Hope am wrong could be a long season.
Sir Shep Posted 29 July 2017 Posted 29 July 2017 Well there's hoofing it to Vardy for him to run in behind the defence and bang in one of what I hope is many goals or there's hoofing it to Vardy for the opposition defence to laugh in our faces and clear the ball with more ease than a lubbed up, er ball. Anyway let's just hope Newcastle, Brighton and Udders aren't clued up and we get 18 points from them at least!!

I'm struggling to find our plan this season so far, except have 11 players who are contemplating the idea of buyer's remorse mill around for 90 minutes. Come on Shakey. Punting it to Vardy will probably get us relegated.

Infact hes worse. He comes short picks it from the centre backs them lays it back to them or trys a 1 touch ball over the top and most find no one. Piss poor.

Just assuming we don't sign anyone else, or lose Mahrez - I think there's far more we could do in a 4231, 352, 433 where the players can express themselves on the ball more than they are doing with better movement that the players could make & tighter passing Obviously it's about a system to win a league or cup game and not much else matters but I'm disappointed we're not using preseason as a way to have a look

Even if it was all down to Kante, we should have splashed an absolute shit ton of money on a player who'd allow us to continue with the winning formula. Instead we spent a load of cash on several ****ing duds and we've gone so far backwards we've disappeared into our own arsehole and beyond. It's truly baffling. Absolutely mind blowing bullshit.
