ARM1968 Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 You're probably correct. Just wish they'd get on with it if so. We still need a couple of players at least without DD or RM departing.
CosbehFox Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 I honestly think clubs are waiting until the final week. The transfer fees have got silly, so they are trying to use time a shame a factor
st albans fox Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 I think Chelsea wanted to do this quickly but we weren't prepared to sell at the price they offered. (We probably stated he isn't for sale) i imgaine they will take take their time now in case other options become available as the market loosens up through august If drinky wants to stay here then it isn't an issue but if he is interested in going there then a final week move is on the cards.
foxfanazer Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 Don't see the sense in letting Matic go and signing Drinky for near enough the same money. Strange going ons at Chelsea this summer
ARM1968 Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 Magic is sh!te - so they improve their squad for little cost.

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 On song, he's much more creative than Matic. However 'on-song' are the operative words. End of last season he was doing a good crab impression of Matic.

st albans fox Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 Has he changed his profile pic on Instagram? If so, what was it?

When playing well he is one of our most consistent players i.e. every game. But he did suffer an almighty slump Oct/Nov onwards. Not sure that makes him inconsistent, just massively off form. He could be blinding again this season.
Samilktray Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 Chelsea fans as you can expect aren't exactly excited by this transfer

Seems to have a great season followed by an average one every other season since he's been here
Kitchandro Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 1 hour ago, Ian Nacho said: In all honesty, I can see this happening if the reports are true that Conte regards Drinky highly and Drinkwater is keen on the move. Why I think we would let this happen is that we have so many central midfield players, £30m+ would be hard to refuse. We've got James, N'didi, Iborra, King, Amartey, Mendy (when fit) and we've also got young lads who will be hoping to push into the first team such as Choudhury and Thomas. Yes but half of those players aren't anywhere near good enough. The ones that are or might be (James, Ndidi & Iborra) haven't proved they are an upgrade on Drinkwater or that they're even the same kind of player. If we're letting Drinkwater go we need a direct replacement - a creative, passing midfielder who's also physical and hardworking enough to play in the centre of a 4-4-2. Even if we got an attacking number 10 type player rather than a box to box (which I think we should be in for regardless), we'd have to make sure there was a proper holding midfeilder in the side as well or we'd be very vulnerable down the middle. Basically, despite us having a lot of central midfielders, we're not prepared for the sale of Drinkwater. This, unfortunately, is what happens when you have a load of bodies in the squad rather than players who offer a specific strength and play a very definite role in your system.
foxinsocks Posted 8 August 2017 Posted 8 August 2017 I would rather have drinky than 50m.... money wont help when injury and form means we are being drubbed in midfield

If you want to win titles and Cups and play in europe, it's not about value for money, it's about getting the best. Ulloa could be said to be value for money but if he starts we're going down.

If we had no money then say 40m would he great ... but if the owners are already minted the incremental utility of 40m may be small. A bit like the value of your 40th cup of tea of the day v your first. We don't need money we need players who can give top six quality...

Chelsea have almost unlimited resources... and they don't seem to think they can find better in the current market. £50m is obviously silly, but if they are bidding £30m + for him, then are we positive our scouts are going to be able to find better for the same money?

Chelsea need home grown players we don't, if they didn't I'm sure they wouldn't be looking at Drinkwater
