Can't believe I'm saying this but I don't think we should sign Fabregas even if we could. He slows play down a lot in possession and it just doesn't suit our style. We win the ball and play at 100mph to attack and get as far forward as possible as quickly as possible. He doesn't fit that at all.

I have no idea what our recruitment team looks like now, but the signings this summer have been far better than the last 2 windows, despite not having Walsh for the last 3 windows. I wonder if the manager has more of an influence on signings than we think

I think our style will change with less reliance on Vardy being the only outlet. He'll still be an outlet but we have the ability to mix it up some more. Also, if there's anyone that can pick a pass it's Cesc. My comment was more about keeping DD too!

And you are probably right Neymars transfer will probably just make it worse. Barca will pay 100+ m for Coutinho. Liverpool will have to panic and buy someone over the odds. The selling team will need to replace and so on. Liverpool really made a good deal, by PL price standards, that is. The guy is quality and I'm looking forward to watch him this season. 37M for DD reeks of panic buy.

He doesn't fit that at all. He's perfectly able to pick a pass over an already regrouped defense or find the gap between two defenders. We saw last year how hard it was to play against deep lying teams and a guy like Cesc is exactly what you'd need in this case. That said, can't see him coming here.

I wonder if the manager has more of an influence on signings than we think I guess I mean the ones this season aren't exactly rabbits out of the hat... they're well known good young players. I'd be more confident of signing 4 or 5 with that money if we were still unearthing Gems for sub ten million
Gerard Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 20 minutes ago, ZeGuy said: I think he's worth 30M at best and this just because of the inflated market. Unless you can somewhere unearth a gem like Ndidi I can't see any quality midfielder coming in the PL for less than 50M. Neymar's transfer will contribute to skyrocket the prices even more. I think it would be crazy for us to turn down £37m for a good solid PL player. You may say "inflated market" but £37m still buys you almost anyone. Yourri Tielmanns who has been tipped as a future world class player for years went to Monaco for £21m this summer. 22 year old Bernado Silva went to Monaco to Man City for only £6m more. If we refused £37m for Drinkwater then that smacks of panic that we have no idea how to replace him.

Ian Nacho Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 I know Drinky would be quite easily replaceable but with the new season starting in a few days it's something that I wouldn't see happening.
Harry S Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 Its just the transfers have gone abit quiet so sky needed to create something to get people interested and who better than leicester and chelsea fan ?

We've seen time and time again that football supporters, especially armed with keyboards, are complete c**ts.

Guest Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 He wouldn't be number 4 at Chelsea. Don't sell. Until November last season DD was a one man army, our only good player. He picked up an injury, played through it but lost his form. If we can get him back on song he's quality and a shoe in for the next world cup.

woznotwos Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 Fingers crossed he's staying , he will be hard to replace IMO.
4everfox Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 I don't think the fact that he has dressed his son in a Leicester shirt means sod all when it comes to him staying or going. The blokes on 80 grand a week, a football shirt costs 50-70 quid. That means that he could sign for Chelsea on the same wages, buy a Chelsea shirt for his little one and still have about 45 grand left after tax to last him until next Friday.
AyewJoking Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 chelsea think they can take a key player on the cheap just to add to their home grown squad contingent
