Drinkwater

Last night showed why we need to keep Drinkwater. Imagine if we would have brought on either him or James, last night with 20 to go. Or started with Drinky and James and brought Wilf on.

We need proper cover in that central mid area. Selling him would be madness.

Why would we drop Wilf when he's been our best midfielder since he signed

No, the point I'm making is if we could have brought on a GOOD central midfielder last night when we needed to. Strength in depth.

DD should be insulted at that. If that's what Chelsea value him at then he's not getting any game time there. Offensive!

Seems very unlikely he'll be off then. They're hardly going to double their offer.

If true then they only value him as a squad player, possibly warming the bench on occasion.

Surely we don't even need to look at the offer to realise that. He's not going to keep Kante  Willian or Fabregas out is he.

Thought he'd go at first but with a 15M bid there not really taking it seriously. The lad is apparently mad about playing in every game where as there he would be only playing 20 or so imo. Yes he might win a couple of trophies but as a bit part player.

Totally agree, and DD must also see that his appearances would be limited by the quality that they still have in midfield. If he seriously wants to be considered for England, then he needs to be playing week in and week out with us and performing as he did in the title winning season, not warming the bench for most of the season.

Forgot to mention Bakayoko. DD would be way down in the pecking order, and would they pay him 100k a week to spend most of the time sitting on the bench,I don't think so.

They almost stitched themselves up getting 40m for Matic. If drinky is the replacement and is younger and English surely he is worth similar.

Matic was a starter almost every game, Drinky wouldn't be. He's no replacement imo. Can't see them offering anymore than 20m for a bench warmer.

selling him for 30 and keeping James would be smart business

Not if it leaves Amartey and King as back up it won't.

Last night prooved that one or two injuries and we're short in the middle to hold the game up for a win.

We're short in defence as well. No rb back up and desperately need a replacement for Wes.

Can't agree that DD would have more chance of England caps with us. Past experience shows that you have more chance with a "big" club even if you get no games at all.

With spelling like that I guess Uni isn't going too well lol.

Chelsea might step up their interest after that calamity at the Bridge !!

If I were a Chelsea fan, I'd be wanting a real Stella signing to help offset that display. With respect to our Drinkwater, they should be shopping in a higher grade of market.
