Guest Col city fan Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Last night showed why we need to keep Drinkwater. Imagine if we would have brought on either him or James, last night with 20 to go. Or started with Drinky and James and brought Wilf on. We need proper cover in that central mid area. Selling him would be madness.

sdb Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 DD should be insulted at that. If that's what Chelsea value him at then he's not getting any game time there. Offensive! Seems very unlikely he'll be off then. They're hardly going to double their offer.
Clever Fox Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 15 million for an International player is a joke. they surely can't be serious. He's better off here where he should get regular game time.
ithuriel Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 If true then they only value him as a squad player, possibly warming the bench on occasion.

dannythefox Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Thought he'd go at first but with a 15M bid there not really taking it seriously. The lad is apparently mad about playing in every game where as there he would be only playing 20 or so imo. Yes he might win a couple of trophies but as a bit part player.
LCFCFOX6190 Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/12/chelsea-will-launch-second-bid-danny-drinkwater-look-make-three/ Chelsea are preparing a second offer that is likely to be worth over £25m for the 27-year-old.
ithuriel Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 They can make a second bid but they've already shown how much they value him, not very highly.
sdb Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Play hard ball. They've just got £40 mill so can give us the vast majority of that.

If he seriously wants to be considered for England, then he needs to be playing week in and week out with us and performing as he did in the title winning season, not warming the bench for most of the season. Forgot to mention Bakayoko. DD would be way down in the pecking order, and would they pay him 100k a week to spend most of the time sitting on the bench,I don't think so.
whoareyaaa Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 25m + 25m add on bonus for selling them Kante so cheap
Fox 4 Life Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 They almost stitched themselves up getting 40m for Matic. If drinky is the replacement and is younger and English surely he is worth similar.

Can't see them offering anymore than 20m for a bench warmer.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 selling him for 30 and keeping James would be smart business

Can't agree that DD would have more chance of England caps with us. Past experience shows that you have more chance with a "big" club even if you get no games at all.

RODNEY FERNIO Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Chelsea might step up their interest after that calamity at the Bridge !!

If I were a Chelsea fan, I'd be wanting a real Stella signing to help offset that display. With respect to our Drinkwater, they should be shopping in a higher grade of market.
