Hopefully Mahrez didn't either.  If there is slim chance that he'll stay, something like that could impact his decision.  I don't see why people feel the need to do it.  He was below par last season, but most of the squad were.

I was one of his biggest critics last year, it was clear his heart was not in it.  But on the other hand he's one of the biggest talents we've ever had.  He came out at the end of last season and was honest about what he wanted.  Even as a massive Leicester fan for all my life, if there was the slightest chance of me ever playing for a side like Milan or Arsenal or even Barcelona (although I think Mahrez is stretching his own self belief with that one) then I'd have a decision to make.

I'm torn on what I want from Mahrez, if he's going to put in another season like the last then we're better off without him, if he's going to knuckle down and try and get his move again next summer then this could be a big year for us.  But while he's still a Leicester player you'll never hear a boo from me, maybe the odd "for **** sake, pass the bloody thing" or similar, but never a boo!  The guy had the season of his life 2 years ago and ended up player of the year, that should be remembered and the fact that he came out with honesty should be respected.  It wasn't nice to hear but he could have done a "delph" on us

I pretty much agree with your post bud although personally I think it was the worst advice ever (if his agent advised him to say he wanted to leave?) as he could of kept quiet and privately tried to ask for a move etc

i hope Mahrez knuckles down this season and proves his worth as to get a replacement would cost more that the £30 to £40 million we would get for him

i just don't think he has done himself any favours making it public

I think the main shocker from tonight is balti pies no longer being available. I mean a cheeseburger just isn't the same.

I had the Butter chicken and Singha which was pretty much the same curry flavour. The crust was more flaky and not having a tinfoil dish made a bit of a mess.

There was a much better vegetarian pie too, which quickly sold out.

We didn't look absolute dogshit against a decent side.

Encouraging.

MG were much better first half, holding possession well and attacking well down the wings. By 60 minutes nearly their entire outfield had been substituted, so lost all shape and coherence. Our better second half was in large part due to that.

I was encouraged by the passing and movement, James for me is every bit as good as if not better than Drinky, they have the same weapon in the through ball to Vardy so that’s good!

Still a little too patient with the defensive build up bit we’ll get there, I bloody love watching Maguire!

I was worried by Fuchs and Simpson, poor games for them and torn apart by BMG triangle passing.

Most of the booing for Mahrez only a small bit came from the West stand towards where the Kop is although it wasn't loud just a few morons. I am not defending Mahrez here but who at the club decided last summer's transfer window he could leave this summer someone at the club must have given him this idea.

Anyway, let's get back to the game:

Positives

  • Maguire good, especially with the ball.  Looks commanding too
  • Ndidi - he's getting better and better isn't he - way more box to box than I expected
  • Jamo getting back to it zlowly zlowly, great ball for the equalizer
  • Vardy looks sharp
  • Riyad showed his class
  • Nacho slotted in nicely
  • Albrighton seems to have take flack from some but thought he whipped in some good ball and looked very sharp
  • Shinji stayed on his feet a lot more!

Opportunities (I don't like negatives)

  • Kasper beaten by ANOTHER long range goal. What is it with him and letting in all these worldies?
  • Wes still needs to sharpen up
  • Gray's decision making needs to improve and I think it will
  • We need a plan if Mahrez stays to take a work load off him a little, especially defensively
  • Set pieces need to improve - we had a lot but not a lot came from them
  • Fuchs needs to get back to being simple - sometimes he is over confident, and therefore a little sloppy - that header for example
  • Concentration! We need to concentrate more. Conceding in first 20 seconds is not good. Sometimes we switch off at the back, leading to spectacular looking blocks that could be avoided with positioning

Overall, happy with the win and a good fun final friendly

Good summary, what kind of plan? I already thought having one of the most defensive full backs in the prem behind him was the plan?

Personally I found the first half as dull as anything. Second half was much better from us and Maguire looks an absolute bargain at £17m. Was also impressed with the brief partnership of Vardy and Kelechi. I've always defended Okazaki but I think I've finally realised that he's not the man to take us forward, he simply doesn't score enough goals and spends too much time on the floor. It's incredibly frustrating to watch.

- Iheanacho really impressed me with the assist. Thought he showed a very cool head by passing rather than shooting - given the adulation he was getting from the crowd and the position he was in, it would've been very easy to have just gone for it, but he made a better decision and basically guaranteed a goal. Good attitude.

I asked a man city fan for their opinion on him and he said the most impressive thing was his decision making in the box rather than his goalscoring record. Think this is a great example. Pretty meaningless friendly and your first appearance in lcfc colour but makes the right decision and lays it on a plate for Vardy.

Anyone notice the fancy little dance routines the German subs were doing on touch line?

proper choreography…. Twinkle toes work out  ?

You mean U Boats? Careful, don't mention the war. Someone mentioned it once but I think they got away with it.

The 10 bombers fools were likely the same ones singing it at Wolves, along with "Champions of England, you'll never sing that" to Wolverhampton Wanderers.  I'm not offended, just embarrassed. The same people who sang "F the Pope" when Ulloa came on against WBA last season. Deeply, deeply embarrassed, just as I'm embarrassed by people who boo Mahrez,  I don't join in, I step away.  One guy started with some anti-semitic nonsense at Spurs last season, people moved away from him til he was standing with three feet of empty space in all directions and he shut up.  If people don't know they're stupid, others have to let them know, without getting punched.

I did boo the "cheerleaders" though, a disgrace that the club needs to stop immediately.

Roughly 12 Maguire's or one Neymar. Football has gone from mad to insane.

Good result for us. We were dogshite pre season the year of the league win. On current form then a top 6 finish is in the offing.

Oh right.

In that case, 'WHY ARE YOU SO SHIT CITEH???!!!'

Only real disappointment was the small crowd. Leicester should have given points for future game tickets.

None of the pies are the equal of PUKKA!! A local firm and supplier ditched for inferior quality, what's it all about?

Yeah, I prefer pukka pies too. A better vegetarian option is welcome though.

Good summary, what kind of plan? I already thought having one of the most defensive full backs in the prem behind him was the plan?

Think I've said it in the Riyad thread but it's not just having Simpson sit back, but also more active cover from the CMs (like Kante did), but in a more proactive way than last season, where it was "oh shit, we've a gap", and then legging it. I think Ndidi will help with this, but he also seems a lot more box to box, than Kante was, which means that th other CM has to watch him too. Jamo and Iborra seem more naturally defensive than Drinky and I think will help with that. Not saying Drinky can't do it, he's actually good at that too but he needs to think about it, where as Jamo and Iborra are more instinctive, if that makes sense?

In my workload comment, it was also more general with an emphasis on defence as that the obvious part. He also needs the attacking workload taken off him too, especially how the players, and coaches will compensate when he is triple teamed. Last season, we didn't exploit that enough by using other options to relieve the pressure and utilise the space, and still kept giving it to him, with the mindset that he would still do something. I think Iheanacho, will help with that but also the CMs have a lot of responsibility on that too. I also like that Simpson seems to have been instructed to attack a bit more. It will also open up space for RM (or just the RM if he goes!)

Hope that helps expand on my thoughts. Probably too much! lol

I've probably missed this elsewhere on the board...but how Nacho's injury? If there is one.

Anything to report?

Shakey said it's nothing, physios weren't worried, but would be better assessed this morning

So hopefully it's fine, but Shakey has been known to lie re: injuries to not give the opposition an advantage, so until we see him in training pictures next week, we don't know for sure
